You've got me lusting even more for Cleopatra and I was born 2,000+ years too late to be able to meet and greet her. I can but dream of a Goblin in my Grotto from Cleo. I can but dream :tounge:

cleopatra.jpg

According to the Daily Mail (So it must be true..)

Far from the glamorous Hollywood image cut by Elizabeth Taylor in 1963 the last Pharoah had a shallow forehead, pointed chin, thin lips and a witch-like nose.

Much better sticking with Liz.

Err......getting this back on topic ...

Daily Mirror (I know) are reporting that the payment terms for the Meteb transfer have been finalized......and the Tyson offer might be increased to 1Mill.

There's method to my replies, we need Meteb to sign for us and Cleopatra is the bait. Just look at these Cleopatra links as supplied by 'hero of the hour' CiderJar :winner_third_h4h: ......

My interpretation is:

1- BCFC only faxed an offer for the player and Al Ahly want a BCFC headed letter signed by SL or GJ.

2- Agent was waiting for another offer from a top european side but has given up on that now.

3- Player happy to join BCFC but we must meet his terms.

4- Terms were again faxed (not written) and they want it in writing.

5- The player will be in Bristol for a medical on July 12th but he could still change his mind if another offer comes in.

6- Agent says nothing will be rushed as it is the players long term furture he is sorting out.

BCAGFC

Just looked at Meteb's official forum for fans and its got this picture on it - A headed fax?

Does anyone find this disturbing? I am now starting to worry if the agent is using us to find another deal. There seems to have been no discrete dealing, everything has been out in the open for all to see.

All I want is something to appear on the OS confirming we've made these signings, its making the F5 key on my keyboard wear out!

How dare you!

Sorry if this has already been answered but will we get clearance on Metab baring in mind he's non eu, or is it not an issue? I don't know how these things work.

I think he would have to appear in 75% of his countries international games over a period of time (barring injuries). Shouldn't be a problem.

I don't know how people keep seeing players out, I've hardly seen any.

Last time I was in Nandos, the only interesting person I saw was a waitress who looked like Jess out of the real hustle. Good times. But the frozen yogurt machine was broken. Bad times.

See what I mean. No city players what so ever.

Some more news translated from Egypt, this make more sense as the date of July 12th was worring because he would have played 1 maybe 2 more games before coming here. So sounds like he's on a plane Monday.

El-Ahly.com aware that Emad Meteb player first team football club Al-Ahli set later traveling to England early next week for a medical examination in the club Bristol City, one first-class league clubs before officially joining the ranks of his team's new starting next season . The Committee on the ball had agreed to sell the player for the club Bristol to 5 t 1 million pounds sterling.

It is noteworthy that the Commission on the ball they wish to stay with the team player to participate in the two summits in the African Championship and Super Egypt before completing the deal final. It was tired and had agreed to his transfer to play in the English League first-class particularly since the Commission on the ball and put the resolution in his hand.

Unlike some of the idiots on this forum I haven't just come home from a Restaurant and made that up.

LJ was a gent and players often talk about potential targets... I remember talking to Louis Carey about Adebola before he signed.

Your opinion though.

I have met LJ (he comes into my workplace) and he is a really nice bloke.

I can see him telling you this as he was willing to discuss what was happening down the gate last season, i personally would not put onto this forum what we talked about but that is my choice.

Link to comment

But to say a player has said that on a Public Forum is pretty stupid in my opinion, as basically you've said a player at a tight lipped club has revealed all our targets to you.

Personally regardless of his father being manager I doubt anyone bar GJ and SL know who the bids are for, whose close and whose a no go.

Get over it, s hit happens. It only confirms what we all practically know so you have to come on here and have a pop!?!?!?!

Mr Goblin it is time for your evening medication....

We all know that the smart money is on the song being "Scores like an Egyptian" (which works equally well if he scores no goals at all!)

"Walks like an Egyptian" was sung in the mid-eighties by The Bangles, Red Goblin and I were both young red-blooded men back then and the very mention of the Bangles would have us "standing up" in every conceivable sense of the phrase. So just for nostalgia's sake, indulge us middle aged men a while while we relax, sit back and reminisce about those days when the last thing we ever did was sit back and relax, and the memories were things we tried to avoid the morning after the night before.......

"mmmmmm The Bangles"

Not too sure of that making sense personally !

If I'm reading it correctly, they wanted him to play in the next couple of games for them before he leaves ?

But he's chosen not to do that and he's coming here to complete a medical early next week and to complete the deal ?

So July 12th is the completion date ?

:noexpression:

July 12th was the previous date in the press over there but now they saying early next week, so with July 12th Al-Ahly have two (maybe one) games before, so it seemed strange to me that he could have been playing games before coming here.

If that makes sense.

All the press in Egypt is saying the same thing :

"Al-Ahly management and coach agreed on the transfer of Emad Meteb for 1.5 mil to Bristol City. The player is making travel arrangements and is going to take medical tests before signing the contracts. "

I think you got the deal, congrats.

This is true, by the "press" I am talking about newspapers and Egyptian soccer sites and forums. Also, there is something like an agreement by the fans themselves that he is determined to leave. We have about 6 strikers that needs to play, so he has to move. I hope he is welcomed at the club when he will be taking his medical tests, it will only encourage him further to complete the deal.

Medicals take place behind closed doors over here. The first we will now about him signing will be when it is announced by the club. The first City fans will see him will be either training or the build up/match. By the positive way we are talking about him I'm sure he will receive a very warm welcome from us!

Egypt Today is a monthly publication and therefore unlikely to have the most up to date news ...... http://www.egypttoday.com/Aboutet.aspx

Yes I don't think that's it, the translation is Egypt Today which is probably a paper in Arabic.

Anyway this news has just come in, was just reading and it appeared.

That a Saudi Club is about to offer 1 million euros for Meteb on a one year loan. Well that's how it reads to me, hope this one is bull

ن AhlyNews.com learned from its own sources that the club intends to Jeddah, Saudi progress formal offer for the club Al-Ahli in order to obtain the services of attacking the young man Emad Meteb on loan for one year compared to one million euros for the club Al-Ahli.

Trust me he HAS been mentioned. Many of the newspapers and magazines are reluctant when it comes to posting the same news in English let alone posting it over the web at all.

About the Bristol supporters club, I think that's too soon to say. However, when Mido (Ahmed Hossam) was up & running in Tottenham, ALOT of Spurs shirts were sold in Egypt and many Egyptians supported Spurs at that time. Hopefully it will be the same for Meteb.

As for his English, I don't know but I *think* its okay since Egyptians are bilingual and English is widely used. It really depends on where in Egypt did he grow as educational quality tends to be less as you move to the South.

Don't shoot me down just reporting what i saw today, could be coincedince.....

I went into the club shop today around 1630, the only other people in the shop we're two men (one perhaps in his 50's, the other mid 30's) with how can i say it? Arabic colouring. They were jabbering away to each other in a foriegn language about which City shirts to buy, when i left the older guy had a home and away one plus a kids home shirt, the other guy had at least two shirts.

I wanted to hang around to see if they were getting a name printed on them, but i must at this point started to look suspcious in the shop so long with out buying anything.

Like i said, in this day of a multi culturall society it may mean nothing, or maybe, just maybe we might hear something exciting tomorrow morning!

(and before anyone else, says it no i don't mean shirt sales are on the up!!!!)

Do you think they made Emad buy his own shirt? - No, I know you don't, but I wonder if Puma can print shirts with Arabic text? If the Carle experience is anything to go by, watch also for the absence of a club badge, it could mean he'll be off in six months.

A good point, but if us on here who have been following this saga for over a month now still don't know if he's going to sign, would some local egypitians be spending cash in the hope he does? (assuming they were buying it with emad in mind)

Too much of a coincidence.

Multi cultural society it may be, but there's not a great deal of evidence of it in the AG crowd to date.

This may change now and these in-the-know local Egyptians may be in the vanguard of a fez festooned multitude of new Egyptian City fans flocking to AG and buying the colours.
