  1. Not just Scunny's opponents; anyone else notice amongst yesterday's results Blackburn lost by conceding four and Donny lost letting in three. The connection being their "surname".
  2. Bobby Kellard. He wore 10 and the scorers were players 7-11, although they didn't score in numerical order.
  3. That Swindon Speedway new track saga is now sounding like a second UWE; "Now report in the local paper http://www.swindonad.../?ref=mrb&lp=15 The stadium should have been finished ages ago. Remember they still have issues re the parking numbers. It's one thing having a stadium that can be easily and quickly built, but you have to get the planning permission first. There's plenty of talk to say all is well and somehow construction is about to start, but when you actually look at the documentation you see a very different story. Anyone would think people were hoping that nobody had the ability to read and understand it".
  4. On this forum there are frequent jibs at the entire town of Swindon, not just it's football team. Their speedway team is trying to get a new track and the story has become a long drawn out saga, which is why I've posted in this thread. This comment below is from a speedway forum and sounds soooooo similar to the UWE ground for Rovers story. Certain people at the stadium also keep claiming that planning permission has been granted and that construction was just about to start. I have no idea where they get their information from. I have been hearing this for at least a year.
  5. Perhaps it's a cunning plan. DC can get a team into League 1 in consecutive seasons!
  6. A city win coupled with just draws for Forest, B'burn & Reading would lift us three more places to "mid table respectability". HT and Forest are drawing whilst BB & Reading are playing each other and is currently 2-1. Reading to equalise and a late winner for City please.
  7. Will the real Bristol City stand up please? Do the double over M'bro' but struggle against Rotherham then today's fluctuating game crops up
  8. How about Somerset Rebels speedway team moving North and reforming as Bristol Bulldogs?
  9. When Jeff Stelling went over to Sixfields after the equaliser, the reporter there said "The game isn't over, but Bristol Rovers fans have invaded the pitch and are letting off flares".
  10. Just found this question on a rail enthusiast's forum.... Most trains on the Bristol Weymouth line are 2 coach units. Saturday 16 Bristol rovers will play yeovil and hundreds of supporters will go by train so is there a limit on how many can be let on? Or will the guard let everyone on or will fgwr put taxis or busses the train will be overflowing by the time it leaves yeovil and Bristol on the way back
  11. Maybe, maybe not, what is the case is that the second world war started with Eastville being owned by the Greyhound company and finished with it belonging to the Rovers. I am sure the coincidence that there were many of the same directors on both boards had nothing to do with it. The Official History of City states "Harry Dolman had two season tickets at Eastville and was invited to become a Director there. At his first meeting the Board were discussing selling Eastville to the Greyhounds and renting it back. Harry considered that a backwards move as he believed a club should always own it's ground. He was told with thinking like that he would be better off at City", which is why thankfully he came to us. It has been posted elsewhere that following the sale, a lot of Rolls Royces appeared in the Eastville Directors carpark, but the team wasn't improved. Meanwhile reverting to our belief in gas heads being deluded; there's quite a few posts on gaschat about how their next game at Northampton is "quite winnable". Someone else started a thread about incorporating the names of deceased fans on bricks in their new stadium.
  12. It was interesting to read some posts on gaschat when they played Wycombe recently. Our fellow Bristolians were describing the opponents and their supporters as "inbred cheats".
  13. More delusion; http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/6521/nomads We have played at eastville, twerton and the mem and have probably acquired fans from all of these areas. With a move to uwe around the corner we will be moving to another area of the city and more than likely attracting fans from there. Also students who while studying at uwe I'm sure will be interested in watching a few games. Our fan base around the city and beyond will be growing all the time.
  14. Tomorrow Cambridge Utd play at the Mem. In tonight's preview on BBC Radio Cambs the presenter asked "What is the Memorial Stadium like"? The sports reporter replied.................... "It's an unusual stadium. The main stand looks like a cricket pavilion and the other stands look like they were air lifted in from other grounds around the country. The game is expected to be a sell out though with ten thousand there".
  15. Any other statto confirm this fact? I believe it is the first time ever that six different players have scored in a game for City. Even in that 11-0 win v Chichester there were only five scorers.
  16. Your post gave me a heart attack! I was reading this when my wife turned the TV on and called out the rugby score, "twenty seven nil".
  17. Funnier still was the 1999-2000 season. Going into the last game of the season Rovers were in the play off positions and home to already relegated Cardiff. Cardiff won 1-0 and Millwall replaced Rovers in the POs. That was the last time Rovers finished higher than City. The following season THEY thought promotion was nailed on, but 2000-01 ended in relegation. It seems when gasheads talk of promotion, the team muck it up.
  18. A few years ago Jason Crump was Speedway World Champion. In an interview he stated "I still have my Dad's Bristol Bulldogs bib. If they ever get speedway back in Bristol, I'd be proud to go and ride for them". I saw Jason riding at P'boro' a few years ago and Dad Phil was helping in the pits. Presumably one day someone, somewhere will fund and move Somerset Rebels from Oaktree into Bristol and rename them?
  19. They're trying to move on; http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/6392/forget-shamesburys
  20. Nothing more to be said; "The High Court confirmed this morning that Rovers' bid to force Sainsbury's into honouring a contract signed between the two parties over the sale of the Memorial Stadium site in 2011 had ended in failure on appeal". "Bristol Rovers suffer crushing defeat in their court battle with Sainsbury's"
  21. OK; a lot of players in both teams took part in the earlier fixture at AG which Fulham won easily. Was today's result due to different tactics or improved belief in the City players whilst Fulham now have self doubt following recent results?
  22. "The new owners brought good fortune with them as well as their personal fortune. Rovers beat Morecombe at the weekend" Clutching at straws already?
  23. Dagenham have sacked their manager today making it two teams this season who've seen fit to sack the manager after losing at home to Rovers.
