  1. Onwards & upwards; I'll be at Huddersfield next week (as I've already bought the train ticket).
  2. An amended version of UWE Stadium has been unveiled and the revised plan is perfect for the Rovers team & supporters.
  3. 6,423 paid to watch today; almost double the number of people who posted messages on this thread.
  4. Surprised no one else picked up on this. At the start of the week Cambridge Utd sacked their Manager. In the words of the Board "Losing at home to Bristol Rovers was the final straw". Obviously even teams in the same division as Rovers look down on them.
  5. Just out of curiosity after reading the full Ipswich squad listed in the programme. We knew about Gerken, Skuse & Pitman, but they also had; Emmanuel, Parr & Crowe. Just on the off chance, are any of them related to the former City players with those surnames?
  6. OK folks, voting time; Are City where they are in the table because; 1. not good enough or 2. just unlucky?
  7. When my son went to Huddersfield Uni, I had a sudden interest in rugby league as that uni sponsored Huddersfield and had their name on the shirts. I did wonder how much of my son's tuition fees were going to a professional sports club. I'm told the coaches would go to the uni and run PE sessions for the students. Warrington are currently sponsored by the University of Chester, so there are precedents for university's helping local professional sports clubs. That sponsorship money has to come from the university's own income.
  8. Sell and then rent it back makes sense if (and only if) they get a lump sum now and only pay rent when using the ground. That was they avoid routine maintenance and associated costs.
  9. But that's why we are putting out buckets at the first home game.
  10. The gas played their first game of one season at Bath and then moved to the Mem.
  11. What if no one buys now? Prospective buyers might wait in the belief that in six months, or a year's time, that ground will be available at a fraction of it's current value.
  12. On the radio they stated that one of the three spoilt ballot papers was England's. The commentator stated that's typical of the FA; rather than take a stand and vote against the man, they spoilt their paper instead. When Sepp found out (so much for a secret ballot) he said I will forgive England for this, but I'll never forget it.
  13. The Irish FA have announced they will be voting against Sepp on Friday. England, Spain, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Brazil & Argentina; come on and do the same. Announce your intention now so "lesser folk" may follow your lead.
  14. Not quite. A few doors away from me lives a Grimsby fan. We might yet share a joint promotion party.
  15. How come Sheff U started & finished the season with home games?
  16. Damn! Only the eight. One more goal today and we'd have scored 3,200 over the years at this level
  17. Yep! City had to fight and come from behind to rescue a point at home and they did! Well done City. Looking at other results, fourth is now the lowest City can finish this season. As so often over the years the Easter fixtures will settle many issues. In League 2, for some reason I don't mind Hartlepool climbing out of the bottom two, but I'm upset to see Cheltenham replace them. Tranmere, Carlisle & York; any of those two going out I'll be happy with.
  18. I know I've posted this before, but it's worth repeating. There isan anthology "my favourite year" in which fans of various clubs describe their club's best year. Matt Nation wrote a chapter aboput City, with the memorable line " A City away win was never complete unless it coincided wuth a Rovers home defeat". I must admit, I was worried yesterday. CRewe were struggling and we lost there. ColchesteR were struggling and we lost there, so when CRawley equalised, I feared the worst.
  19. Darren F on today's local radio; "It was disappointing to lose to two goals from set pieces, a corner and a throw in". The sports reporter stated "it was a comfortable win for Bristol City; Posh only had one shot all night". Several people have posted City are seven points ahead of third place. One stat that's slipped under the radar; City are 21 points ahead of 7th place. Three more obscure stats to give "nice round figures" and with 16 games to go, at least one should be achieved ; 30 more points for a 5,200 points since joining the League in 1901. 31 more goals for 6,350 goals since joining the League in 1901. 44 more goals for 3,200 in the third tier.
  20. Before the game in October Darren F said on the local radio "This game will define our season". This morning he told listeners "I think we can spring a surprise on Bristol City". At least he used our full & proper name, not just "Bristol".
  21. Being reflective; a case of "swings & roundabouts"? Six months ago, many members of this forum expected us to lose at Brammall Lane. As someone else posted, upwards & onwards.
