    In the 1950's City signed Sid Thomas from Fulham. After just a few games though, Sid retired due to Tuberculosis! Harry Dolman accepted the situation and paid the full transfer fee, but suggested Fulham give a reserve team player to City as compensation. Fulham refused though.
  4. OK, have I got this right? Twice come from behind to get away draw, but still drop down two league places?
  5. Hang on folks, it's true everyone does (or at least did) like Rovers. When Rovers finished bottom of the league in 1938-39, they had to apply for re-election to the League. (For you young 'uns, no auto promotion & relegation then). Gasp shock horror, they were voted back unanimously! http://www.nonleaguematters.co.uk/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=3506; Hartlepools FL 38 re-elected to Division Three (North) Accrington Stanley FL 29 re-elected to Division Three (North) South Liverpool LC 5 Scunthorpe & L Utd ML 4 Burton Town ML 0 Wigan Athletic CL 0 Bristol Rovers FL 45 re-elected to Division Three (South) Walsall FL 36 re-elected to Division Three (South) Gillingham SL 15 Chelmsford City SL 1 Colchester United SL 1 Interesting to note that the Northern clubs receiving no votes then, subsequently gained automatic promotion to the league and both are currently, above Rovers.
  6. I smiled at the end of the Sky Sports round up today. Geoff Stelling announced "Bristol Rovers are now in 13th position, but only two points out of the relegation places. Our producer hopes things will be this tight on the last day of the season." Could it be written in the stars; 13th at 3.00pm, 21st at 5.00pm?
  7. Think how annoying it will be for them if they remain unbeaten for the remainder of the season. Only to find those above them have as well so that Rovers are relegated with a record number of points!
  8. These are in Poland, but are the right size for the travelling gas heads.
  9. To be fair, go back four months and this forum was the same regarding LJ.
  10. http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/13889/jester-official-sunderland-matchday-thread?page=10 Reality is striking. It feels already like we’re down so if we stay up that’s a positive otherwise we’ve got a good vote for next season. The game on Tuesday was a real battle and imo the players looked exhausted at the end - perhaps that is some of the reason for today? What is worrying is that we have Sat/Tues matches all through March so the players are going to be tested
  11. A new ground idea for accommodating the gas hordes; Should they ever climb higher than their current status;
  12. This big screen TV; can it be seen from outside the ground? If so, more people avoiding admittance fee. ?
  13. The first page of their forum has no posts from before 2015, so obviously, that is when they started. This forum is nearly 4,000 pages long, going back to 2003 when OTIB started in a new format.
  14. If Rovers do make it to Wembley, sorry "Wembly",
  15. Wow; reality has struck home with several of them! (But delusions still shine hrough). http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/13798/sold-river Sorry, just how I feel at the mo. New owners, no ambition, no new ground, no new training ground - no money. Really feel cheated after 60 years of following. Completely agree! I for the first time in a long time will not be buying a season ticket next season. I can't wait until the owners leave! On the other hand I'm a bath lad and bath city are really doing a lot more marketing than they have historically, plus have plans to redevelop whilst adding to the community in which I live and I must admit they are sucking me in a bit at the moment. Never in a million years thought I would ever feel like that as I'm blue through and through! Just feel so helpless and pissed off with everything connected to rovers - we are just so tinpot for our crowd sizes and we are being mugged off! It's fairly evident now that the progress we made over the last few years was in spite of the Al Qadis rather than because of them. Yep, and two years after that we were back in League 1, which I always felt was our rightful place. A decent league 1 team chasing championship football. Over the last 15 or so years we have become a team who struggle to stay in League 1 and this has not changed despite different owners. How has that happened with our large fan base?
  16. Tehy are still going on about Wycombe! http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/13767/ring-any-bells Agree with Adams views 100% - haven't seen an anti-football team like Wycombe for quite a few years. This isn't sour grapes for losing but did anyone else also feel that the Wycombe players also (probably under instruction) hoofed more balls over the stands than in an average rugby game ?! Yeah, Wycombe were appalling. I'd rather finish 20th then have to watch them every week. They played like a poor Conference side - sadly, we played just as bad- but at least we didn't stall the game with playacting, time wasting and although we did do a bit of 'hoof' ball it was nowhere near as much as what they did. Their RB could only do one thing, hoof it as far as he could- usually directly upwards! We were appalling that day but at least we know we are capable of a better standard normally. I suspect that is how Wycombe play every week.
  17. http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/13738/sunderland-bury-portsmouth-semi-final?page=7 Sunderland home We might get 4,000 for this one Then at the foot of page 8 - Can't see anywhere near 25,000 going. We only took 26,000 in 2015 for a far bigger game. I still think plenty would boycott actually.

  19. Wow; I found this; https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Bristol+Rovers+Humour&FORM=IRBPRS&=0
  20. DeLoitte have announced their list of the World's wealthiest football clubs today. 1 - Real Madrid, 2 - Barcelona, 3 - Man U. There are six English Prem clubs in the top 20, but for some reason they have omitted Rovers. How can this be; they've assured us they are the sixth wealthiest club in Britain.
  21. Have Rovers contravened the Trade Descriptions Act? http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/13736/young-gas-heads-half-term Bristol Rovers Community Trust will be hosting our school holiday 'Fun Days'
  22. Then again; when an elderly lady rattles her tea cup against the saucer, then you KNOW you're disapproved of.
