  1. If MK win, they are one point ahead of City, but we have a game in hand. A draw maintains the status quo. A win for City, not only increases our lead to five points with a GIH, but every goal we score adds to our GD and diminishes theirs. It's MK who'll be thinking "Vital not to lose".
  2. Has anyone notified the Gillingham management and fans yet? Every team City have played in the JPT (and it's predecessors) Area Final has been relegated to the Conference a few years later. Hereford, Aldershot, Exeter, Cambridge and Rovers.
  3. Yes we did beat Yeovil; meanwhile:- Crewe won again today. Perhaps we played them just as they turned a corner in their performance.
  4. It used to be a popular quiz question; "Name all five football league teams with a X in their name". The answer was Halifax, Oxford, Exeter, Wrexham and Crewe. Crewe are the only one not to have dropped into the Conference yet. For those without tickets, no need to POTD. Turn left on leaving the railway station and near the junction of Nantwich Road and Gresty Lane there is a set of railings where you can stand on the pavement and look through and see about 85% of the pitch.
  5. I've lost count; is that 5 of the last 6 or 6 wins out of the last 7 visits to London Road?
  6. PUFC have history in this. League Cup at AG, Ribiero was taken out early in the game. new year's day league fixture; they had to lend us Craig Ireland after one of our players was taken out ---------- in the tunnel at half time! Two season's ago up here; three of our players were stretchered off which weakened us enough to result in relegation. Last season, Assombalonga suddenly dropped to the ground and got El Abd sent off. Mind you they also attack themselves. During a game at AG the then Manager, Barry Fry had an argument with Coach Bobby Gould, so sacked him at half time and left Bobby to make his own way home.
  7. Today's game passed two milestones. 1. it was City's 4,400th League game and 2. our 1,700th League win. Score four more League goals and that will be 6,300 since the 1901-02 season. 58 more points (currently that's mathematically feasible) to have racked up 5,200.
  8. Icing on the cake for me? On BBC Radio Cambs, it was announced P'boro had lost to three of the bottom four teams and today faced the bottom club. Fergusson assured listeners, Posh wouldn't wobble like they did a year ago. Well done Mark Robins for leading Scunny to a win at London Road. Also well done Rovers. Three nil down home to Lincoln, but Forest Green fought back to draw 3-3.
  9. City's match v Oldham: 1 - will be City's 4,400th League game. 2 - and a win will be our 1,700th all time League victory and our 860th at this level 3- hit five goals and City will have scored 6.300 in 103 seasons
  10. I fear the remainder of the season's home games will be like today. Defence minded oppos who'll try kicking us off the park.
  11. Reading the text commentary, it appears Scunny are trying to kick City off the pitch. Presumably every team in this division will do that as the only way of stopping us?
  12. Wolves in their Old Gold? Northampton in that cross between dark red & purple? I didn't think any team played in brown, but so many fans round the country will occasionally utter "I think we looked like a load of s##t today"!
  13. Bohemia on June 13th 1908, the match was played in Prague and England won 4-0. Rather odd that as in 1867 Bohemia had become part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In 1918 it became part of the new state of Czechoslovakia.
  14. Trivia? 1. Grimsby Town don't play in Grimsby, but in Cleethorpes.. 2. Robert Fleck scored more goals at Stamford Bridge for Norwich (4) than he did for Chelsea.(3). 3. There have been five teams in the League with X in their name; Wrexham, Oxford, Exeter, Halifax and Crewe. 4. The fastest goal in a League game was scored by Jim Fryatt of Oldham after just four seconds! 5. The smallest League attendance ever was thirteen. Stockport's ground was closed and they had to play at....Old Trafford! 6. The biggest away win in League football is 9-1. Barnsley and P'boro' have both done it. 7. The two closest grounds are those in Nottingham. 8. Ashton Gate is nearer Griffin Park than Home Park but the London based media insist on referring to City v Plymouth as a derby fixture..
  15. Final thoughts on Tuesday night. Bradford and Crawley lost which helped us. Elsewhere, Adomah, Kilkenny and Fagan (all former City players scored for their teams and none were on the losing side.
  16. I commented to a Steward (one of 50 inside the ground with more outside) there was no Police inside or outside the ground. He replied "They're not needed". That's a financial saving for the club. How come we can't all do that?
  17. My son, a P'boro' ST holder reckons he'jj get there at 7.30 and walk straight in. That suggests not too many Posh fans. Therefore; c'mon all City fans tonight. Let's make some noise! For those of you en route by car; I'll be cycling along Oundle Road about 7.90 - 7.15ish. Please don't drive in the cycle lane!
  18. That win at Orient was a great result for City. My one moan is that Tuesday night SSN suggested the goals might be shown about 11.30pm whilst there was almost live coverage of the Championship goals. Then on Wednesday evening, I tuned in to Points West and the game wasn't even mentioned.
  19. There was much moaning on here after the draw at Oldham and now there's jubilation following the wain at Orient. Would the feel good factor be higher if City had won at Oldham and then drawn with Orient?
  20. BBC Radio Cambs this evening. P'boro' state they need more forwards. They hope to sign a centre forward from Rochdale and a winger from Kidderminster but cannot agree personal terms with either player.
  21. Live match player showed 86 mins 0-0 now it's jumped to 87 minutes and 2-0, but the League position is still 23rd. On a different note, City have scored twice since Crawley's share of possession increased! 60% to City and it was 0-0, We drop to just 53% possession and we score twice.
  22. Good job we've this thread and SSN. City's live match centre is showing 83 minutes played and it's still 0-0.
