The whole area, I went up to Manchester the next day for the Utd v Everton game, was much drier than the south west.

Looking from the train the fields were dry, the rivers were low. As soon as you get back from south Gloucestershire onwards the fields still have ponds and puddles and the rivers are high.

Plus of course, Stoke don’t have a rugby team and international women’s football being played on it

Firstly, I believe that some of our support should apologise to our ground staff for recent criticism.

Secondly NTTDS, what no pictures of Britain's decrepit railways?

Var giving Grealish the benefit of the doubt over possible offside goal.

We get given offside without var when the official isn't in line with the play.

And our Championship opponents are always allowed to play on when frequently offside, by the blind and never up with the play, line person. Especially the one on Lansdown side/South Stand end in each match.

Thoughts come from a few places.

Firstly, would Pearson want to extend? He's older, he's done his job well, he may want to sail off into the sunset knowing he did want was asked and he did it well. I don't know.

Secondly, I'd quite like us to try changing managers when the club's in a good place, and there's a positive reason for it. We see so often in football that change is reactive, and clubs wait for a crisis to change. Why not try a proactive, positive change?

Finally, Pearson may have promotion on his CV, but that doesn't in anyway guarantee it happening again.

I wonder if Euell is being groomed to take over a la Liverpool Boot Room did with great success.

Throughout this season, I have maintained my prediction of us finishing between 12th and 14th. Friends and Family in our 'Robins Mad WhatsApp Group' were panicking especially around November and December with some questioning whether Nige should be 'terminated' and a few of the lads had nicknamed him 1 Point Pearson.

I continued to support Nige. We now sit in 13th position and are safe from relegation. Nige is at 1.3 points per game as it stands.

Boro Monday...Interestingly, they have only lost 1 less game than us and sit pretty in 4th place.... And Blackburn in 6th have lost 2 more games than us. Even ex premiership Norwich in 7th place have lost the same amount of games as us, so had we turned 4 of our draws into wins, we would be in and around the play offs...

I predict 8th to 10th position next season and 24/25 could be our promotion year if Pearson is given the time to complete the rebuild?

    Thoughts? Am I deluded? ?

No you aren't deluded because I posted similar thoughts a couple of days ago. ( Not accusing you of pinching as many posts are missed )

I believe that we could finish 23-24 season anywhere between 5th and 12th because it will be a team building and consolidation year. A year when we are giving Academy graduates opportunities to improve and prove themselves as ready.

So 2024/25 could prove to be a very good year with a real chance of emulating the 1975/6 home developed team. Am I dreaming? Yes but based on what has happened under a quality Manager and coaching staff, I have good reason to.

    COYREDS!!!

I was just starting to get frustrated with Bell early second half when he then had a few good moments culminating in a cracking cross for the goal. Reassuring that he played himself back into the game after looking a bit flaky.

    Edit - wrong thread! Duh....

The thing that I'm noticing with the good youngsters in our squad is that their heads don't drop because of a mistake. They have either had that sort of reaction from birth or is implanted by the coaching staff by encouraging them to leave the past where it is and look to their future.

On the subject of swearing, had a right moron sat behind me on Saturday - I sit in the children’s section and luckily my 6 year old didn’t fancy it this week. This guy spent the whole match swearing at the top of his voice and then complaining that he was getting looks - guy obviously had no awareness of who he was surrounded by. I was expecting a drunken teen but when I looked around he must of been in his 60’s

We can all let loose with a swear word as a way of letting off steam. Many children know and use it so nowadays it's not as serious as in my childhood. But the continual use every other word is repulsive and should be reported.

WSM bigger than Burnley, well that surprised me, which makes their success even more amazing and only makes me sad that we cannot seem to emulate it.

Surprised me too. Burnley is a proper football town tho, sure I read that about 20 percent of the population regularly attend the football.

Sorry I was going on old figures. Current is Burnley at circa 94,000 and WSM at 84,000.

Burnley had about 20K increase over last 20 years as I remember it same as Shrewsbury at circa 76,000. WSM expected to be over 100K by 2030.

I think we have slightly more potential than them since Bristol is quite a lot bigger than Plymouth and our surrounding population is much higher but they like us have failed to realise their true potential for far too long.

The size of a city or town had only a minor relationship with the standard of football from the club before Prem arrived. So today's football is dominated by the big city clubs who have accumulated mega millionaires to buy their glory.

As for the rest of us, it's how the football club is run that determines the success. Clearly the south west of England is lacking in determiniion to succeed. Clubs from Southampton, Brighton, Bournemouth, Norwich, Ipswich, Nottingham, Sunderland, Birmingham, Stoke, Sheffield, Portsmouth and others have all been much more successful than City, Rovers and Plymouth.

I leave the best example till last. Burnley is smaller than Weston Super Mare yet they have spent more time in the top tier than a helluva lot of other bigger towns/cities. Admittedly there is a lot less to do in a total dump like Burnley than Weston, Bristol and Plymouth!

  9. The few signings that Pearson has made, all remind me of those unknowns that he signed for Leicester in the couple/three years before they won the Premier title.

So for Mehmeti, what was Mahrez like in his first three months? Quick but not like a Varney. Decent ball control but using only one foot and thus as a wide left player, tending to cut in with his strong foot rather than using the weaker foot and going by defenders on the outside.

I wonder how good, or poor, Mahrez was when he arrived at being a team player? I also remember the Semenyo of two/three years ago. Tremendous pace but iffy ball control and not much football brain.

So at the moment, I'll not criticise Anis too much even though it's very frustrating to watch him. Let's give him some time to get accustomed to the quality of Championship defenders, learn from coaches "when to do" and more importantly "when not to".

And when to go for a shot and when a pass will be the best option.

Just arrived Looks ok to me, seems in better state than last home game.

Considering that a rugby match was played on Friday evening and that we've had heavy rain overnight, I thought the pitch looked and played quite well.

May not be in perfect condition but considerably better in April than pitches twenty and more years ago.

Many years ago I walked over the pitch after last game of season when City were relegated, the pitch had a couple of square metres at each corner flag with the rest of the pitch a sand and mud heap. So not perfect but not as bad as some are claiming.

Yes I know, I was there in the shed, it was a night game obviously, everyone was crammed in and you could barely breathe. I think there was around 35,000 there, it was actually 28th December 1965 see on here  https://www.footballprogrammes.net/bristol-city-fc-c-97_104_158/bristol-city-v-wolves-1965-grand-floodlight-opening-p-37380.html

I went to Wolves the day before whe we got a 1-1 thanks to Big John. Their crowd was 32,526 and ours 36,183 when Danny Bartley made his debut. Wolves sneaked a winner.

  12. Some very good memories from those pictures. Thanks to whoever compiled it.

My first match was at Ashton Gate up against the front railings behind the Covered End goal. Only the Cowshed, nothing on other two sides as main stand had all been demolished after Uncle Adolf had it removed thinking it was the BAC at Filton. One toilet block for up to 20,000 men. The few women after 1953 was at end of Williams.

So what became the Williams opened in 1952/3, Dolman in 1970, and Atyeo in early 1990's.

And now the almost complete rebuild giving us quality seating, toilets and refreshments.

Only similarity with the old days is that we are still not a fixture in the Top League! Oh well, one cannot get everything one wants for Christmas.

He's been hooked at half time 3 times in the last month...

He was ill, although if that explains the drop in standards and intensity for the entirety of the recent run then he's had the longest cold in human history!

He's been quite passive defensively recently, which is frustrating as his main defensive strength is his aggression and intensity.

He's been reluctant to go forwards having made significant strides to improve that side of his game.

He's a very good player who is, quite clearly for a number of reasons, not at the top of his game currently. He's played a lot of football this season and has earned his contract extension and pay rise.

Do you think his standard of performance have been at his peak recently?

You really are sad. He was taken off to allow a tactical change to three at the back. I doubt very much that Pearson would agree with any of your comments.

Stop and think before you write crap!

Tanner has been below par for a little while (illness and arguably a dip in form).

I'd like to see him get a few games, we know exactly what we have with Tanner, a ballsy, competitive right back. Wilson could add another dimension going forward that we've lost since being forced to play Pring CB, neither Dasilva or Tanner are your typical attacking fullbacks.

Tanner below par? How do you work that out?

What evidence, please tell us what he isn't doing?

I hope we try some stuff over these coming games - use the remainder of this season as an extension of pre-season before a big promotion push next season.

I'm sure that Nigel will be using the last eight games firstly to get as many points as possible. Yet as preparation for next season.
