I’ve no idea whether they signed “player-type” contracts for a fixed length or whether they are salaried like a normal employee. Would be strange to bring Holden in on a 12 month (rolling) contract, but then appoint his assistants on three year deals imho. In terms of manager contracts, there is no standard contract (source: LMA).

Do you know what, I don’t think Korey was either. Korey was a “rat”, sniffing out trouble anywhere in midfield, tended to play higher than Pack who screened (under Johnson) the CBs. In his last season here when he returned from injury he did play what we all call DM though. I agree, a Korey type would be useful.

Will depend on the terms. Quite conceivable that Martin’s one year option has that. Ashley Williams allegedly had that in his short term deal, although I think City would’ve exercised it regardless.

King isn’t a DM….he’s always been a midfielder who likes to get up and around the attackers, contribute goals etc. Bakinson is a deep midfielder rather than a defensive midfielder, likes to have to play in front of his, but does not have defensive awareness. James defensive skills are based on reading the game / anticipation and then intensity in closing down the “problem”.

Was he the one out of the players in Revolution at the end of the season claiming to have a £20k p.w contract sorted at Stoke (?). Rumour was he might’ve been the one, if the rumour had any substance to it. I suspect he was on decent money based on the contract he signed in July 2018 off the back of that season, albeit nothing like £20k p.w.. Obviously, no idea whether he’d have taken a reduced wage contract. But I reckon that if a couple of other players had been OOC, Pato would’ve been the one Nige kept. Unfortunately budgets dictated. I hope Nige can shift a couple in January.

I’ve been in the dressing room pre-match when Joe was mascot (Swindon (h) - what a night), and he is a real energy. Having said that the players are hugely pampered - “Scotty, can you cut me a pair of ankle socks”, “I can’t find my shin pad, can you find it Scotty”, etc, and he does whatever they ask. Me too.

Surely he’s on more than £28k. You’ve got me feeling all sorry for him now ??? Got to say he is such a top bloke, I know we all know it, but he is. I think we are lucky to have him.

Think it was me that posted that Luke Williams’s job was being advertised at that salary. As for Simmo and Keith I doubt they’re on over £100k p.a. But nothing would surprise me when Ashton is agreeing contracts, but how many signings were what we fans would say were a “snip”. I suspect somewhere between £50k and £100k towards the £50k end imho. If over £100k, then I would imagine it’s their best ever gig!! FA role wasn’t really full-time, so wouldn’t have been high salary, although per hour it might’ve been more (if that makes sense). Im not sure it is Scotty, but if it was, I suspect it’s because his role is more than kitman in reality. He’s an ambassador of the club too, whether official or unofficial and does lots of other stuff too, beyond washing and laying out the kit.

Their timelines don’t seem to cross at any point, although with Ashton living in that area and contacts in football in that area they could’ve known each other. The problem with your posts is that they all route back to it being Pearson’s fault. You don’t want him here do you? Your points get lost by your agenda. You could’ve just left it at “they’re experienced coaches”, you don’t have to then go on to say “if he can’t even communicate the formation….”. That just makes you post look petty and cheap, and agenda-based. FWIW, I doubt they are bad coaches too, just like I doubt Andy Rolls was Dr Death….but they might not be a good fit for City / Pearson right now, or in Rolls case made a mistake last pre-season. They have longevity in football, they don’t strike me as blaggers. Just think Nige wants different personnel. Again FWIW, it would not surprise me if there were plans earlier this season to replace, but Simmo’s illness might’ve put them on hold. I can only assume he’s made a full recovery (fingers crossed) and City / Pearson stood by him whilst he returned to good health….but now it’s time to implement the plan….just it’s a bit delayed. As footballers I really liked Simmo, apart from his hat-trick, I know someone who played in Man City’s youth team with him and he says he was an unbelievable talent. But I liked Keith’s interviews, I liked his enthusiasm. I wish them all the best. Ever worked for someone where it wasn’t a match made in heaven? In football that happens all the time.
