  1. I’d be more than happy with this approach if we get more of the likes of Tanner and Atkinson.
  2. I’m no marketing expert, but what is the view of: - is it better to have 20k SC holders at £250 vs - 12.5k at £400 (I know not all SC are sold at the same price, and some are free) Would be really good to see a breakdown of SC holders in each pay band in each part of the ground.
  3. Yes, I know someone who posts on here who would know for sure….and he agrees with you.
  4. No, sporadic goal tweets was our lot today.
  5. Korey picked up an ankle injury in 15/16 and like a warrior played through it, because he was (as you say) one of the players that adjusted to the Champ really quickly. He was vital to our season. 15/16 - 36 apps, missed final 2 because of a red card….missed a batch just after LJ joined as he tried to rest his ankle. 16/17 - 23 apps, missed a lot of games early season, came back, got injured again. Came back for the run-in as we got away from relegation. 17/18 - 45 apps, fantastic that season, all his injury woes behind him. 18/19 - 5 apps, out for a very long period, came back, 2nd game went into a tackle, slipped and did his foot / ankle. Probably lucky to not get a red card, but he did slip. Given an extended contract on same terms at Xmas that year to give him peace of mind and not rush his recovery. 19/20 - 22 apps, missed most of the first half of the season, contract expired. Best player technically without doubt. Sometimes felt like he was in a bit of a comfort zone, but not as inconsistent as people made out. Scored his goals / got his assists at a consistent rate. Letting Pack go was the right deal financially, but awful timing from a football side. It proved that succession planning was non-existent.
  6. 4-2 up after 65 mins. Benarous hatrick and Pearson after falling 2-1 behind just after h-t. Dennis Wise’s son playing for Watford. Pochetino’s son on the bench.
  7. 100%….let the crowd build the atmosphere not the music.
  8. The other tough one is extending contracts. In many respects, Nige has worked a bit of a miracle getting Weimann and Baker to sign deals on significantly lower wages than they were on. But they were OOC. How do you get Tomas Kalas to extend his current deal, say it’s £25k p.w, for another 2 years. You don’t want him going into his final year, but you can’t really afford to give him the same money either. Ideally you want to tie him down now, but he’s not gonna take a wage drop for a contract he has 22 months left on. Its these types of situation that are gonna be tough to accept if we have to sell him.
  9. Yep, and conversely we didn’t do the same back to them.
  10. The stats overall are saying generally that we are below mid-table, but not bottom 8. Our results are slightly outperforming the numbers. But we look far from a relegation battle team….so one step at a time.

    O’Dowda

Ta. Healthy debate. Can’t agree on all things. We Keep it civil(ish) though….I think The positives (there weren’t many) for me Saturday was in confirming the status of a couple of players. Bakinson - pretty much played himself out of contention Dasilva - showing he’s really getting back on form after injury issues last 2 seasons. A little ankle turn v QPR is gonna happen. Re Jay, that means we now have options down the left with Pring and O’Dowda, and even Baker at LB where horses for courses is required. I’d like Antoine back fit too, Saturday showed that we missed some power and pace, even if it’s a bit uncontrolled / raw. I still think he could be a threat starting down the middle, but with license to roam. Need to pair him with someone though. I think the last time he played there was v Reading away last season where him and Fam looked like they had no idea how to play together. Not sure it will happen, but I’d like to see it. Right midfield is more of a prob now Williams injured, but we should be able to get a tune out of Palmer or Scott there if required. Palmer could play that role narrow too. Think we will see Atkinson back tomorrow, if Massengo isn’t then I think Vyner will partner James. I can think of worse options. Would rest one of Weimann or Martin tomorrow night.
  12. I would say he’s much more effective centrally….he’s still capable wide, but not as effective. We have Weimann, Wells, O’Dowda, Pring with pace. Williams, Semenyo and Massengo when fit….but we did look pedestrian on Saturday. It’s clear Nige and Rennie know they need pace. Expect signings going forward to meet that criteria.
  13. I’m the same….I want every player to be great for us. He is a talented passer of the ball, but his mobility and desire to get about the pitch is questionable. I sense a bit heart to heart with Nige…..and he might end up going the “freeway” (sorry, awful pun for those of you old enough).
  14. That is fair, and he had a decent enough game until subbed on the hour. Not everyone criticises his every move, I try to be fair as possible. He’s got a fair bit of coverage this weekend on OTIB….several people pointing to the contract issues. I think there was also another thing around that time….Johnson calling him out for not wanting to play after his injury. I thought it was poor man-management by Johnson to go open to the media, but I would also say he’s not been the same player (in the main) since that injury at Hull. Dunno whether it got into his head, but I don’t think I’ve seen him make a committed block tackle since. I don’t expect him to go around clattering people but he presses to 2/3 yards rather than engage…unless he really has to.
  15. If you only judge him on a few things he did on the ball. If you include the other 43-44 minutes on the field when he didn’t have the ball, there were some quite horrible moments.
  16. Yes, agree….the back of shirts should contain a single colour panel with a contrasting colour number
  17. I think you can evaluate the signing in many ways. If you want to go black and white, has he been a success on the pitch in a season and a bit….it’s a no. Nobody can really argue that. But if you want to look at some mitigating circumstances it becomes much more grey doesn’t it. I don’t think there’s much doubt that if we can keep him fit (big if) then he looks like he’s a big improvement on what we’ve had. It must be so frustrating to have got through 90 v Peterborough, get an international break and then get injured early v Bournemouth. He probably thought it was really his time to kick on and put it all behind him.
  18. Maybe it’s an alphabetical order thing ??
  19. Agree. As someone who had their first Cartilage op at 19, a double hernia, a ruptured ACL and three more cartilage ops by the time I called it a day at 30/31, it would’ve been easy to label me injury prone / sick note / the Darren Anderton on local football, but some of those were caused because I wanted to play, often when not fully fit. Nobody wants to be injured. Some players might only feel right to play when 100%, some willing to play at 90%.
  20. In Basketball, we often see home and away vest, but I couldn’t work out why sometimes the Flyers wore their away vest at home….but then someone mentioned that they tend to work on the basis of a team having a light coloured and dark coloured vest. Found this re NBA:
  21. He’s used the same answer in the past.
  22. My forecasts show exactly that….21/22 season’s accounts (this season) will be the last set of accounts in the FFP 3 year cycle (4 yrs because of COVID) that we fall within the £39m. However, this might depend on how much we can exclude for Covid in 20/21’s accounts. This season and next do see significant wage and amortisation costs wiped off, and that will continue to be the trend, unless we sell some players. Re Kalas, I wonder whether we might entertain trying to sell him next summer. His wages and amortisation are £3m+ per year.
  23. I have a sneaky feeling Nige may try to move him on during January. Signed a 3+1 deal in summer 2019, before he’d broken through, so wages won’t be high, meaning he could be attractive to several clubs. I think it’s just Nige’s way of diffusing the question, nor speculating with the media on how bad an injury might be. He said they’d be in yesterday to evaluate. Not much more to say really. I think it’s easy to say he got it wrong, because we were so poor. We never imposed our game on them. Wells did come on up-front and Weimann went right, as we initially stuck with 442. But then he dropped Weimann into the hole and pushed Wells right in a 451-like formation. (The 352 second half got cut open even easier, but we did fashion a few chances ourselves) Up until Williams went off our two forwards were quite successful in stopping Cahill and Kelly playing into Billing and Kilkenny, and their keeper kicked long a few times. Wells coming on started to see that change, I’d have preferred Wells to chase the ball and Martin block the passing lanes. A bit like him and Alex Scott did v Blackpool. Less running for Martin too. Alas, that wasn’t the case. With Stacey being given the freedom to join in possession with give and go’s with Lowe or Christie, our CM2 of James and King got overloaded….and it also meant the quick switch to Zemura / Anthony started happening too regularly. Was surprised by Bakinson sub admittedly…..think Tyreeq dug his own grave with that 25 minute non-cameo. Although it’s likely Tyreeq would stand there and let someone dig it! ?
