  1. Don’t think Louis has been part of the pre-season 1st team training squad….so I don’t know if he went through the same regime or not. Nige has mentioned he wouldn’t be able to handle the intensity of first team training. I hope Louis takes it all on board.
  2. Have you noticed the slightly sinister smile / half-chuckle when he mentions how hard training is. Love it! ?
  3. We lost Williams, Watkins and Baker pre-season (Walsh was injured pre-Covid return). We barely saw them all season, a few apps each. We lost Mawson long term v Middlesbrough (game 6). He returned (game 23) but then crocked again (game 28). We lost Sessegnon and Weimann long term v Swansea (Game 7), Kalas returned from collarbone that game having been injured in cup v Northampton. Nagy, Dasilva and O’Dowda started to return at this point. Paterson was then struggling by game 13. Dasilva season over by game 16 and Brunt by game 19, subsequently calling time on his career. O’Dowda had a Boxing Day (game 21) to forget. Chris Martin got to Derby (game 26) before his season over.
  4. Nor me. My gut feel is that we are being really cautious when players do get injuries. I wasn’t all-in on Rolls being negligent like some, although I do subscribe to the view that they got pre-season wrong last summer. Orme admitted as such, and that caused lots of probs. You are always gonna get injuries, contact and muscle, it’s the nature of the game. For me the proof will be two things: - length of time out - re-occurrence or not Its easy to look at O’Dowda (contact injury on opening day) and see 7 league games missed (not in 18), but we’ve also been told that he didn’t make the 18 despite being available according to Nige, so it’s more like 5 games. With Williams they’ve taken it steady after FGR where he suffered a set-back, but they look like they’ve got it right getting him through 25+ mins off the bench v Fulham, 65+ v Millwall where he cramped up to 90+ v Peterborough all within a week. So, early days, but encouraging signs.
  5. Towler, Low and Buse all starting tonight (Grimsby, Eastleigh and Taunton respectively). Tommy Backwell (young pro) has also scored for Hallen.
  6. Big Jon Lansdown enforcing the Corporate Font!!
  7. Done. With Fevs Treatment on it.
  8. On her Majesty’s Buffet Service
  9. Pretty disappointing that you can’t click on the dots to see which player is which!!! ??? Was only recently I mentioned box plots and whiskers and here they are! Comic Sans is unforgivable though.
  10. Pembo…..for a short while???
  11. He isn’t a RB at all imho. He’s good on the ball, but he’s not nimble enough to play there these days. His body shape is quite top-heavy now (it wasn’t in 16/17 when he signed) and he’s built to be a CB.
  12. Different era, but remember “Offside-Kodjia”? Didn’t run offside when Tomlin came here on loan. That ability to spot a pass and execute a pass quickly made such a difference to Kodjia. I saw Jacki twice. I played Saturdays so in a rainy winter I got to go to Leicester and Forest cup games. He was a massively talented player. Whether he did or didn’t do it week in week out I don’t know, but at Filbert Street he was from another planet.
  13. I hope so too. I’m as critical of him as most, albeit I’d never say he’s crap (he’s not). He just needs to be more effective. Saturday he was fine, not brill….but as it was his first start back he’s gonna take a little while to get going. I’d like to see him off the right too at times If anyone is gonna get him firing it’s Nige imho..
  14. What you’ll find is they are massively “up the Lg1 promoted clubs”, a sense of needing them to do well because they’ve invested heavily in analysing Lg1, George is an Oxford fan, not sure about Ali. I like them both to be fair, but they are very bullish about the promoted clubs, but they have fantastic broad knowledge of the EFL. They won’t be as knowledgeable as a dedicated fan though. On FBC Ian made the point about how Posh played nice football, whereas Lezz nailed it, they can’t both attack and defend. They went defensive and got a point v Bournemouth, fair play. Ferguson set up to attack us and left himself exposed at the back. And we punished them. We created chances pretty consistently throughout the game. In xG terms, Peterborough didn’t have a big chance all game. Still scored two and that’s what counts, but we fashioned 4-5 better chances than their best. we don’t even get any xG for the own goal, that Atkinson would’ve scored from had Thompson not headed into his own net.
  15. Spot on RR. A few of us this season have proved (in our own heads anyway!!) that sometimes it depends of where you sit in the ground. The Vyner debate v Luton (I think) pretty much saw the Dolman’ers view it a poor 1st half performance whereas the Landown’ers (me) thought he was ok, but we were further away (cue Father Ted cow sketch). That’s the beauty of it. On Saturday you’ve got the added dynamic of “being there” v “Robinstv”. Whether you happen to agree with Rob or whoever, he certainly paints a great picture of the game and atmosphere for those who weren’t able to travel. I like the edge he gives too, and on OSIB. One of these days I’d love to have a pint with him. There’s quite a few others I’d like to too. On an aside the other week I found out I sit two seats away from someone who we both spend a lot of time tweeting each other. It was one of those moments where someone says something, and all of a sudden you think - you’re “so and so” on twitter aren’t you? it’s what brings me back here every day.
