  1. Got pace, athleticism, gets his head up. Good signs. Settled pretty quickly. Hopefully have Williams in front of him today, they started to link well first 15-20 mins of second half, getting Tanner on the outside.
  2. Rather than predict poor performances from certain players before the game even starts, why don’t we actually just watch how they play. Its a good eleven. There is no reason for it to not perform based on one or two player’s selections.
  3. Glad to see King back alongside James….they know each other’s game well, and know when to go, when to sit. King really good at offering passing angles to the full-backs too. I’m assuming 442, Williams and O’Dowda wide.
  4. Awful mistake by Ream for their equaliser, then Cov all over them.
  5. It’s the three games a week that does him. ???
  6. Imagine whoever was the announcer falling for it ?
  7. Martin is not an aerial target man, he’s 5’10” not 6’3”….but is a target chest down where he can use his frame (big arse) to hold his marker off. Martin is at his best when he gets runners around him. Clever touches, layoffs. We didn’t do that on Wednesday, too often our attacks were from too far away from Martin and Weimann. That is an area to improve. Both Williams and James are players that like to get close, Scott too. Sometimes a player can play poorly themselves, sometimes it’s because of what’s happening around him. Wednesday was a bit of both imho. Hes been a bit in and out the last few games. I suspect there might be some interesting reactions on OTIB at 2pm when the teamsheet is announced.
  8. Is it just me that has no idea what that means?
  9. Jon. I think he was a decent enough Championship striker, certainly not denying that….just think he was capable of a lot more, mainly for the team. That was my biggest frustration. When he seemed in the mood, he was great, just didn’t happen enough for me.
  10. Arsenal owed £8m by Derby for Krystian Bielik as club step up search for new owner Derby signed midfielder Bielik for a club record fee worth up to £10m in 2019 with only a small fee paid up front By John Percy 1 October 2021 • 6:35pm Krystian Bielik joined Derby in August 2019 Arsenal are still owed £8 million by Derby County for former midfielder Krystian Bielik, as the Championship club step up their search for a new owner. Prospective buyers for Derby will have to take on liabilities worth “tens of millions of pounds” and it is understood that one of Derby’s main creditors is Arsenal, after agreeing the Bielik sale two years ago. Derby signed Bielik for a club record fee worth up to £10 million in August 2019, when Phillip Cocu was in charge, and the structure of payments enabled them to pay a small fee up front. With only around £2 million paid in instalments so far, it means that any interested parties will have to accept inheriting the transfer fee for the Poland international. Earlier this month Derby were late paying an instalment to Arsenal, with the Football League briefly adding another charge to their transfer embargo before the situation was resolved. It is understood that Arsenal have been assured they will receive the money, with Derby’s administrators including the bill in financial discussions with possible buyers. Bielik, 23, is currently recovering from a serious knee injury - his second since signing for Derby. There is also money owed to Polish club Lech Poznan for winger Kamil Jozwiak, which takes the overall ‘debt’ on transfer instalments over the £10 million mark. Kamil Jozwiak's fee is also yet to be paid Jozwiak, another Polish international, was signed for £4 million in September 2020. Derby’s financial problems also include the £26 million owed to HM Revenue and Customs but Cocu, who was dismissed by Derby in November, will not receive the £5 million owed in compensation after the club went into administration last week. Administrators Quantuma have sent out a formal marketing document to interested parties this week as they seek to sell the club. Quantuma, the business advisory firm, remain confident of a sale and have received approaches from more than six separate parties over a potential takeover. Working with the club’s chief executive Stephen Pearce, Quantuma have put together a document including basic details over the club's position, with a demand for guarantee of funds before parties can view the finances in more detail. Around a dozen staff members lost their jobs this week, but it is understood that current staff and players were paid their monthly wages in full on Thursday morning. Quantuma are also in discussions with the Football League over the additional nine-point deduction for historical financial breaches and are hopeful of negotiating a lesser punishment, though it is thought unlikely the EFL will accept it. Derby also moved onto one point after the 1-0 victory over Reading on Wednesday night and remain unbeaten at home this season. Wayne Rooney, the manager, said: “It is a very difficult moment we are in but the players are giving absolutely everything, so all we can do is keep working, keep trying to pick up points. “I think they deserve a lot of praise, a lot of credit. Looking at the table now we are back into positive points. “It is never nice when you are on minus points, to turn that around so quickly they deserve a lot of praise for that."
  11. Think injuries forced Fleming’s hand. All 3 subs influenced by injuries.
  12. Scott was fit for the 18 on Wednesday so hoping he’ll be ok. Gonna be an interesting announcement tomorrow at 2pm. Williams is a real dilemma and risk…especially with a 2 week break after this match. Short term around works against him though from Wednesday. In your line-up I’d go Scott RW, Palmer LW and Weimann and Wells up top….but as you say no idea who is fit.
  13. Thanks. So a number of us can’t have a different opinion then? Come on? ?? Aggressive? Occasionally, usually against Birmingham! ? he rarely battered his CB opponent, allowed himself to be knocked off the ball far too often. If I was a Championship CB I wouldn’t be worried about the physical battle with Fam I can tell you. Didn’t use his size. As per my other posts I don’t he really fitted the target man profile, just that he was big. Better drifting into the left-half and facing up his man that back to goal. Have we lost set-piece goals at the near post when he’s not played in the past or this season? He did a good job there but I don’t think Martin has done any worse, but it doesn’t get picked up on. He was a match winner on occasion, granted. Overall he disappointed me, not just the last 3-4 months, capable of more imho.
  14. I think you’ve just made me choose my Q. ”when Gary Weaver broadcast on Sky that the Bristol City CEO had told him that owner wouldn’t sell Diedhiou because we’d see our value on the pitch - did you actually say that, and do you think you did get value”
  15. Would love to see your workings!
  16. Obviously I was a bit young back then, but I didn’t know they weren’t the same person. Ta.
  17. Martin really needs to be a “play 2 rest 1” type of player….needs to be sharp…and that’s different from being fit, which he is this season. Personally I wouldn’t have played a back 3 the other night, because bar our spell second half, we couldn’t get our midfield close to CM and AW to pick up loose balls. It wasn’t the back 3 that was the problem per se, but playing a flat 3 in midfield. I think James has been at his best with King or Massengo alongside him, where he can join up when it’s his turn. Bakinson left side of a three didn’t really work because he wants to do his work with the play in front of him. Williams was decent though. I just think we are better structured in a 442/4411, especially with narrow wide midfielders….that in theory should allow Tanner and Dasilva to overlap without us feeling exposed.
  18. Showed how good he was playing CM top-flight for Norwich. Was a key player for them in their euro glory days. Always reminded me of Desperate Dan with his chin.
  19. I remember a quiz question about Jack and Bobby Charlton managing against each other in the FA Cup (PNE v Wednesday) and that it next happened when Alan and Brian Little faced each other (York v Villa).
  20. He is in no way a villain, just misguided in who he trusts to run and make decisions about the football club, which includes himself. Financial prudence, playing by the rules is great, but there is another way too….as fans wouldn’t we have liked a bit of glory alongside a bit of mis-management, e.g. Tan at Cardiff. I’m a bit mixed on him. He hasn’t given the money to us….I still see it as an overall investment (with the Bristol Sport, land, housing, etc). Others love him, some don’t.
  21. We can agree to disagree….Wells imho still put a shift in playing out of position. Still ended up as our top scorer too, despite playing 40%+ on the left wing. But Wells doesn’t smile, nor does he beat his chest in front of the South Stand, nor come from Knowle! ?
  22. No, your not the only person, just that several of us, me included have different opinions. My opinion was that after his first season, he pretty much had spells where it looked like LJ had to give him a “rocket up the arse” to get him playing. When he came back from 6 game ban he was good, then drifted back into being a bit complacent. He lost his place a couple of times, but came back resurgent, then dropped off again. My view was he got his profile up, was looking for the next big move, and coasted a bit. I’m not saying he didn’t try, but he wasn’t putting it all in either. I also don’t think we played to his strengths either, but that’s another story. His final months here were a disgrace imho.
  23. By all accounts? You were there! ??? I honestly thought before pre-season he would move on. But he had a good pre-season and surprised me a bit. But, not enough to think he’ll be good enough for us as a wide player. He’d be better down the middle, he’s a finisher. He’s got the knack. Would at least like to see him central before writing him off. Nige not impressed with his off the ball stuff v FGR.
