Cup draw after the game tonight too. Many Championship sides have fallen so you're looking at a League 2/League 1 dunker (on paper at least...) or a Prem team. Ideal scenario is a win tonight then a shit L2 team from the hat.

It's a major trophy. I appreciate it's no Champions League but it's still a major. We have 0 of them in our history, so I'd certainly take a League Cup!

Yes that certainly sounds like Towler and Kadji in the cup. In an ideal world we'd have 3 or 4 points and tomorrow would be viewed as a free hit, it's got a bit of importance now given the form table reads LL. But we still have to rotate and it's good to see the next gen of prospects on the grass.

I've been a staunch fighter in team 'we won't be relegated this season' and I still am. But with our defense starting the season so in line with last seasons showings (2.5 goals per game, nervous when we lead, 1 90+ goal already), I just have this horror scenario in my head of a points deduction in L1 and where that would put us. It won't come to that - I know it won't - but it's nagging me.

We should sell Scott or Semenyo, much as it pains me. We have the 4th highest xG in the league (understood it's a small sample size, but it's consistent with last season really), we can afford to lose one or the other. It'd be so nice to only have the league table to worry about, not the finances too! Plus a significant windfall would allow us to strengthen where we actually need to, defense. Dream scenario is we make the money from Han-Noah or Kalas or maybe Bentley, but those offers ain't coming.

They have had the most embarrassing catastrophe of a summer I can recall from any club. The level of short-term-ism is daft beyond belief. I hope they don't manage to worm their way out of it and are unable to register these players, the fallout would be hilarious but more importantly - deserved. Plus their fans online are insufferable. The club could release footage of the players clubbing seals and their fans would talk about how it's a masterstroke in team building.

The concerning thing for me is we make conceding look so easy. If you watch a City game, you’d think teams should be scoring three minimum every week. 95% of the rest of the football league show this is not the case. A quick fix is needed, or I don’t think calling for Pearson’s head would be unfair. Clean sheet against Wigan next Saturday is a must (sod the League Cup, we’re never winning that this year anyway).

I don’t know man. Sunderland battered us from 40 mins onwards, and looked well worth their win (especially when you factor in two big Bentley saves). They (mostly) nullified us in attack from that 40 minute mark onward, and had our defence on toast. Nige needs to sort shit this month or it’s time to go. We’ve plenty enough to stay in this division, but if we haemorrhage goals like last season that may not be a given.
