Yes I totally agree, buts that’s what I mean about bringing in quality. I’m relatively encouraged by the way we’ve played the last two games, that if we get some quality in we can push on and win these types of games. In comparison to Pearson, I’m less sure he could’ve got us playing even better with more money. At the end of the day, johns “top 6 squad” comment has tarred the start of Mannings reign completely.

I take what Jon said about top six with less then a pinch of salt. Looking away from that, under Manning so far I’ve seen us be more aggressive, controlled games better and fewer (all be it still to many) silly mistakes. He came in after the Cardiff game where we were 4 points off play-offs and we are still currently 4 points off play offs. It’s clear to see the style of football he wants to implement will need us to bring in more quality if we want to play this way effectively, hopefully that will happen in January. Hopefully we go up to Blackburn and have some more fortune in front of goal, as we could’ve easily scored 2/3 more today. Take a point and move on. COYR

Will say to be fair, our high press possession style we are trying to adopt doesn’t have much to do with their goal. Was a break from a corner, not many sides play a low block in the first half when having one of those. Yes

Knight very much has the potential to be, feels a tad erratic at times atm but h will get there. Dickie I think was much better under Pearson when we played much more on the counter, when we play a possession based game and get caught on the counter he gets done for pace too often for me. Still firmly one of our better players though.

Sykes been immense once again, in our team I genuinely only see him and vyner as above midtable quality and it shows. As a standard our movement in the box and crossing is awful.

Personally I thought we did the basics a lot better in the Norwich game, still not perfect but better. And the movement and transitions were mostly more fluid and faster. We were blunt going forward but we haven’t been a free scoring side this season. Only 5 teams have scored less than us. But Manning stated numerous times leading up to last week they were working on the basics and play in transition, and I’ve seen a marked improvement already. Said today they’ve been working on forward play, the robins uncut videos highlighting that so hopefully there’s a marked improvement there as well. I believe (and expect us) to beat Huddersfield and then Blackburn is a tough test but hopefully after a decent win on Saturday will be one the teams up for. expecting 3 points, hoping for 4, would be delighted with 6.

Definitely becoming more rare, and when they have those attributes it’s usually sacrificed for their on the ball abilities e.g. Haaland is a world class striker but looks a bit like a headless chicken at times with the ball at his feet.

Cant conceive why we can’t go 90mins without kicking a 5 yard pass out of play at least 4 times, just doesn’t happen with other teams it feels like. Every week, either they are pearollers that dissuade any forward momentum or just go barrelling out of play 2 yards ahead of our wingers. It happened with Nige and now with manning, I just struggle to understand how professionals do that on such a consistent basis. They mostly happen in the second half so maybe fatigue factors in, but still feels like it happens way more then it should.

Put at tenner on a Sammie smodzic hat trick against us already, watch him do an adebayor and run to the away end as well. In an alternate universe somewhere, the board fully backed nige in the summer and January and we are 3rd at the moment.

I would argue we look more comfortable with the ball at our feet in our own half and the middle of the park so far under manning. But either way, we are utterly toothless going forward, I love both Belly and Conway but neither are good enough at the moment to start every week. Weimman is quite clearly past his best football for us. Has had some brilliant spells but in reality they are over now. As much as people will want to mob over Vyner, we would’ve conceded much earlier if not for his very good covering when Dickie got done for pace by Idah, and watching the goal back you can see the curve on the ball taking it out his path was very unfortunate. If we had utilised our possession more effectively it wouldn’t have mattered. TGH and Knight both shone again and I thought Dickie didn’t really do anything wrong either. Sykes shouldn’t play on the left. Personally think at the moment Tanner, Bell, Conway, Weimann and O’Leary all just aren’t good enough. The first three all very much have potential to be, but shouldn’t have to be relied upon consistently. That typical and quite frankly dull midtable performance is what you get when you sell your star quality without replacing them. Can’t tell if it’s arrogance of the board or just plain old lack of care. Do better. (That is towards the board not the players or LM)

Just realised Manning really hates a second half, 0 conceded in first 45s, but 5 in 2nd for us.

I think that’s what Matty James does though, just screens and protects, you don’t notice him as much because he rarely makes mistakes.

Can’t tell if we are overreacting with a lot of these missed fouls or the linesman has been poor.

Brilliant movement from Conway, just needs to start finding the net a bit more! Very good last 5mins
