  1. A few thoughts - 1. Early subs worked out well. 2. Defended well. 3. TV coverage very good, no patronising of us, accurate comments about City in the league and how VAR could have changed the result.
  2. Feisty isn't it? Not entirely sure we need to do this.
  3. Benrahma knew he was in trouble so stayed down. NOTE! We need to play it cool now and not let the ref even it up. Play smart City
  4. I hope the neutrals appreciate his knowledge too, this isn't a one off, he is so well prepared for any game.
  5. JP getting a mention in for a state school in Bath (re Vyner). Just brilliant. (Beechen Cliff School BTW)
  6. I agree, we have passed much better than this and we have been lucky to not concede. A bit of composure, maybe as the pressing players tire and we could improve.
  7. I like the quick ball over the top, we haven't passed it accurately but we have Tommy to run onto it and presumably Bell later on. Keep trying it please. Better than losing it in our own half. It only needs to work once.
  8. Can't believe it will stay this score. Jonathon P is MoM so far.
  9. Sounds like digital errors to me, something at the broadcast end.
  10. Takes me back to flared jeans and rising damp on a rainy day.
  11. I guess because it would be too hot in the summer and would clash with baseball.
  12. Here's a question. If you were an overseas investor, or UK based and fancied investing in a football club, would you choose Rovers or Swindon? Swindon has a bigger ground footprint (I think) to develop from, big ish population, no bigger near neighbour, no rugby, potential commercial sponsors around town. I don't know anything about them, maybe there is some reason they are where they are. ??
  13. My analogy gets worse in these cases as I see a player bringing down an opponent as a crime of passion, a spur of the moment thing. Breaking FFP rules is something that happens in slow time, it is a consequence of meetings that look at costs and finances, considers the rules and then breaks them even though they know it is wrong. That is probably why I have very little sympathy.
  14. I can't help but see an analogy here. A footballer hacks down an opponent, the ref blows his whistle and the culprit looks horrified, throws his hands in the air and screams innocence at the ref. Similarly, a club flouts the rules, gets caught, they throw their hands in the air and scream innocence through their lawyers. Both a form of cheating.
  15. For me this is personal. My sister's long term ex partner was a Forest fanatic. He went off with another woman just because she could offer money to subsidise his failing crappy business that my sister had subsidised for 10 years before. I think this should be taken into consideration and Forest should drop into the national league.
  16. Maybe my juvenile sense of humour but that sounds a mouth watering meal. Masala with rice, salad on the side and a nice bottle from Chateau De Brunye.
  17. If there was a poll or survey to be done it would be really interesting to know the age demographic of the 2 clubs. Whilst I think it unhealthy for clubs to have a boom and bust approach, in the absence of anything above L1 for them for so long, the risk is that the attending fans just get older without any next generation. Anecdotes on here suggest that this is already the case. We can all see how much more Championship football gets exposure on TV.
  18. I agree, AG needs a re think. The opposite, for the oldies, was TV at Highbury. The camera angle was very shallow which made the midfield look very crowded. Had a nice view of Cheesley's winner v Arsenal though .
  19. I would think this was all distressing for those involved in trying to save the person and the right decision was made as their role at the game was not possible to fulfil afterwards. Re the photo, if I was the deceased persons family, I think I would be touched by the number of people who attended to try to help.
  20. From what I have seen we play straight into feet too much which forces pressure on the 1st touch being good and makes turning difficult. Play into space and the marking defender has a much harder job. It doesn't need to be acres of space, just the side furthest from the defender. Key point - the run is made 1st and the ball passed 2nd, that is what catches out defenders.
  21. Many years ago, my wife and I were on holiday in north Italy. She wanted to go to the opera in Verona, an open air Coliseum place. Not my type of thing but hey, when in Rome, or in this case, when in Verona. Anyway, heading into town by taxi it was still 36degC in early evening, this was July. Whilst queueing to go in I noticed a long line of ambulances parked up, thought it a bit strange. Inside, it was roasting despite being open air. The posh guests were in posh gear, men in suits, some attending as part of corporate hostility. Basically all day the sun had cooked the stone that made up the Coliseum and that heat was still radiating under the seats. As the show went on, a steady number of guests were passing out and were rescued from the audience by ambulance crews with stretchers who, judging by the number parked outside knew exactly what was going to happen. The show went on, 10 mins later someone else would pass out and so it continued. It was a bizarre experience and I sometimes wonder if they just fainted or if some had something a lot more serious. Anyway, I hope what happened today has a good outcome and you all stay well through the season. I would recommend attending a 1st aid course if you are thinking how you would cope with such an incident. It might just give you some confidence to help out. I did it through work and it was very good. Sorry for the long post!
