  1. There is something a bit sad about the body language of the young lad in the foreground. 'Dad, can we go home now?'
  2. Can they make up their minds please, are they a massive club or plucky underdogs? Can't have it both ways.
  3. As an older person, I try hard to adapt to today's standards and as far as I know I manage to do that. It isn't easy though as there are many new initiatives and therefore pitfalls to avoid. As such it is pretty easy to make an innocent mistake and then have to learn from it which I am more than happy to do. So in this context, seeing as there is enough unintentional hurt going on, it does seem unacceptable to intentionally go out to pass on discriminative hate to someone. As others have pointed out, you don't know what their threshold is for accepting the abuse. An analogy would be, there will always be accidental collisions on the pitch with serious injuries, so to go out and deliberately hurt another player is not acceptable. My moral compass on this is a good friend and work colleague who is mixed race and incidentally hates forced box ticking, the like of which we see in business and to his view causes more problems than it solves.
  4. I am also long in the tooth and used to get a buzz as a youngster, stood towards the south end of the enclosure listening to the chants behind the goal. I can remember though when some moved to the Dolman and to me it just seemed to dilute the atmosphere as the singing element was then split between the 2 parts of the ground. Humble apologies for my ignorance in recent times but why were the singers moved to the corner after the redevelopment? It feels like somewhere you would place visiting fans.
  5. Fish puns should always be marked on a scale.
  6. Very thoughtful of them to have the face covering, there is still some COVID and flu going around.
  7. Waving bed sheets badly painted with protest messages? Not something I want to see. Not a good look, not helpful.
  8. Not a fan myself, there are some players who are not likeable for some reason. As for the stats, they look ok in isolation but he didn't do it all on his own and in some cases didn't play that much when his side won trophies.
  9. So if he ran very quickly back to his own box and was passed the ball, could it be a penalty for the offside 50 yards away? Sorry for being facetious, as said, a silly law.
  10. So does this mean the offside player, knowing they are offside, should run towards the oppos goal and receive a pass 40 yards offside so the free kick is deeper in their half?
  11. He was probably too busy grilling the players at HT. Sounds like he made a decent job of that at least.
  12. If we went back to the letter boards for half time scores we could do a match day Wordle at the same time.
  13. Clearly we don't have enough South American players in the team.
  14. I don't see enough City games to be sure but I see us passing to feet a lot with defenders close on our heels when I think the better coached teams play the ball into space, away from the marking defender so that the receiver can run onto it and possibly draw another defender out of position. Just a small detail, otherwise I agree our touch on the ball can be poor.
  15. Whoever gets it should be purely on merit, boxes should not need ticking as the studio pundits alongside the anchor give that opportunity if the BBC feel that is what they want to do. Good call with Alex Scott, knowledgable and easy going.
  16. Looks like it came off his toe on the BBC replay, just one of those things you don't expect to happen. Quite a cool finish to be fair, passing instead of lashing a shot which many would have in surprise at being gifted the ball.
  17. If we aren't going to get a penalty the club could save money by not marking the spot with whitewash. When one is eventually given the groundsman/woman could just nip onto the pitch and measure it out.
  18. As a boy I remember the half time scores elsewhere were on a board marked A to Z and you had to check your programme to see which game related to which letter. Or did I imagine that...? Very exciting.
  19. Yes, I agree with that though of course by the time the proper guy/gal has attended site, inspected the work, tested it and provided all the paperwork, the bill for the club (with a premium for the short term work) would mean they might as well have just paid them to do it all and build a proper business relationship. Maybe add some advertising for them to the stands etc. (Insert joke here ref stands.)
  20. If they employ qualified electricians who will work to the latest regulations then all should be good, whether paid or working as volunteers. Unfortunately the message sent out suggests a less than professional approach. There are some serious points here. In health and safety law there are clear lines of responsibility which can land the management of the work in trouble if something goes wrong, the lawyers won't stop at the person who did the work. Humour aside, having worked professionally alongside electricians and been regularly trained in electrical safety (as well as other disciplines they could come across at the Mem such as asbestos safety), I find the advert worrying.
  21. In the spirit of offering advice, I will just leave this here:- https://www.campingandcaravanningclub.co.uk/advice/equipment/electricity-campers-caravanners/
  22. I am not an electrician myself but I am pretty sure they need to work to the latest issue of the electrical regulations. Employing a retired electrician whose knowledge is out of date to actually do that trade might not end well. 'Keeping your hand in...' is not something you want to be doing when public safety is at risk. From the web:- If you don't have the 18th Edition, or don't know what the regulations include, your installations may not meet the current standard, which could mean that your installations are unsafe or inefficient.
  23. Not quite sure how the 'mid table' slur works when Exeter are above them in the table?
