  1. More defensive praise for JET....
  2. Mate just ignore the bloke its easy!...You only get to read his drivle when someone quotes it then....Know what I mean!! Anyway we played well Bryan Baldock look dangerous and JET is defending as well as looking dangerous....So far very nice....Fingers crossed for the next 45....More Tea Mrs!
  3. Even Andy Townsend has noticed JET's defending!!!!!
  4. He won everything in our area from throw ins....
  5. Intimidation is all they have so far!!
  6. We are doing ok! Both CB's have been booked already which is bound to tell a little later....Bryan looks neat as does Baldock!!
  7. I tend to agree with BS34 here. Yes as has been stated between 76 and 80 we rarely attracted crowds of over 30,000 I know I was in most of them as was NTB, however that was not a particularly golden age when it came to football support. In 2013 football (I dont mean to offend anyone here) has become the replacement religion of the country. Millions are glued to any number of games on TV/Sat, where as the 70's boasted two football shows post 5:00pm on a Saturday. The appetite for football is now completely different. I agree about the growth of the City. Clearly if any city grows it is on the basis of new people coming to the area, however I have personal experience of new people coming to the City and becoming City fans. It is really not that much of a stretch. The problem is City have served up far to much third rate/tier football in the last 33 years and this is the main issue when attracting new youngsters/old'uns to the ground. This has been under pinned by players simply not wishing to come here and the club having to pay, Super premium wages to get anyone half decent to come and ply their trade at tired old AG. Yes a revamp of the Gate is a decent enough second best, but I am tired of second best and so are many at the club and in the City. AV will attract visitors and eventually new fans as the transients become part of the vibrant infrastructure of the City. This will impact on players to support the current and first class policy of development from within. We as a club have an opportunity! We may never have a benefactor that is prepared to put so much of his personal wealth on the line again. So I stand firm that AV is the best option and hope the club push for this option until there is no place further to go!!
  8. Hi! NTB. I will respond to your post just give me a day or two!
  9. Being a supporter of 'Long Standing' This is my two penneth! AG holds many memories for most of us and it will be a huge wrench to move to a new ground if that is the case. Nevertheless a brand new stadium at AV is by far and away the best option for the club, the board, shareholders and its supporters. Much of the funding would come from the sale of the current ground, supported by other sources, which I will assume some of which the Landsdowne family will underpin. AG is largely an outdated relic of a bygone age, under pinned by the Dolman Stand and Atyeo Stand, both of which have there own limitations. A new stadium for The West of England is long overdue. Bristol is one of the biggest and fastest growing City's in the country and it has been stated many times that it is one of the best City's to live in the UK. Yet Bristol remains a backwater in the minds of the many outside of the area and rarely figures in the same terms as other regional powerhouses. A new stadium will give us and the town something to be proud of and I would suggest would help our team as well. Perhaps the next time you see a Man U/Liverpool shirt worn by a local kid, perhaps we should think about what it is about our City and our clubs that those kids can not identify with...?
  10. Yes a lot of positives....It seems strange to be disappointed we didnt win!! Two great games coming up at AG! second top and second bottom!....
  11. Whether you agree or disagree about the way things have gone down and the severity of the clubs action, you cant escape the fact that the club has taken a stance and is sending the stongest message possible. This message will now have to be consistant moving forward as we all know what the punishments are...
  12. Pretty much it! Portsmouth FC are serial defaulters...Good god how could they do it all again, I believe three times in the last few years definately twice. Portsmouth's best way forward is to reform and try and get in the best league they can. If Aldershot can come back so can Portsmouth!
  13. The bloke is a to55er but you should expect nothing less from going to places like these from the home manager. We are Bristol City, if you are a Hammers fan you should be beating us 10-0 every week, look at the last 30 years of history. The trick is to think about it and then make it what drives the fans and the players on, like GJ did for a while ****il he lost the plot) and Wimbledon did for 10 years. Fat Sam knows he has one shot at it and if he doesn't make it someone else will be in there next August. From a personal perspective I hope they get beaten in the Play Off Final 1-0 to a 94th minute Own Goal after the opposition were reduced to 8 men and no goalkeeper.....And I also hope its US
  14. <br /><br /><br /> And may no one ever say source to you ever again! I'm feeling a bit emotional right now...my old man would have loved this Cmon City
  15. Someone just a minute ago posted how many could be on the gate tomorrow?....Good Question...I'm as nervous now as I was before the play off final...God this better have at least a tinge of truth to it!
  16. Yeah it made me smile when you posted that. I think it says it all, when it comes to the calibre of the player and the man....
  17. Although I may not have put it exactly the same way....I agree with your first sentence 100% Secondly I agree further on a free he would probably be looking for a signing on fee...This could be up to and over 1M sterling, however the potential season ticket and merchanise sales could be huge if you market the thing properly. Thirdly yep you are probably right their too! Still we can dream a little cant we?
  18. I'm getting goose bumps thinking about this now! Blimey what coup if we can pull it off...Altogether Now...England Engalnd's Number One England's Number One Still be amazed if it happens though!
  19. David James in Goal for the City would be massive. Mr Gerkin and Mr Henderson would have the opportunity to work with a guy who has set the record for premier League appearances and make no mistake that figure is not an accident. The confidence of having a player of that stature playing behind you will work wonders for the back four and will permiate throughout the team. If we even have half a chance of signing the fellow we have got to give it a go...Mind I'll be bloody amazed if he does come here!
  20. The exact point I made on the Evening Post website. The fact is whether he ,<Rayner> is an odius man that has tried to help line the pockets of those who's pocket he is in OR a politician that has made a very por judgement of what should have been the simple decision to recuse himself at this point do not matter. He is a tainted politician and the whole council is now in disrepute because of it... Enjoy the march tomorrow and dont forget who not to vote for in the next election!!
