What happens if you rely on a single striker for goals and he gets a bad injury or simply loses form? Mo Salah has had a bit of a bad scoring run by his standards but it's not a problem for Liverpool because their other forwards are scoring. Better to spread the goals around then. And that one striker at Fulham is reported to be on £100k+ a week. 30 goals a season strikers are vanishingly rare and way beyond our reach.

You can usually tell when a player has had their head turned. They usually say something along the lines of: "I'm flattered by the interest and I want to play at the highest level but I am under contract to Bristol City at the moment and I am focused on doing my best for the team." Which translates as "I've told my agent to fix up a move." If it's a Premier League player they say it's nothing to do with money, they want to play in the Champions League. Which translates as "I want to double my wages."?

I think some people mix up the overall losses with the FFP position. Unless Steve says he wants £xm paid off the losses we should not need to sell any of the crown jewels. To stay within FFP we need to make savings but nowhere near as much as people may think. Reducing the squad size and therefore the wage bill with sufficient fringe players leaving may be enough, especially if we make savings in non-football running costs as well.

Since owners aren't personally liable how do you sanction clubs without affecting fans? And fans aren't innocent bystanders if they take no interest in how their clubs are run while demanding their owners take financial risks to secure promotion. Any sympathy I have for Derby fans is tempered by the fact that they appeared mostly to back Morris as he ran their club into the ground.
