Basso U-turn?

We'll soon have Frank Doberman posting on here "Oi Basso NO!!!"

Whilst Basso is with us, and drawing a wage, why pay an extra keeper - Might 'teach him a lesson', but economic madness.

Similarly, if we 'teach him a lesson' and have no cover on the bench, we'll look stupid if Gerken gets injured.

None of us know what is going on, suspicion is that financial realities are hitting home (Or being hammered home by SL), and an uneasy truce will be the end result. We're not some massive Club that can just waste money on wages because somebody has fallen foul of the Manger.

As for team morale, don't forget that he will have friends in the dressing room, and they won't suddenly ostracise him for this. Finally, lots of carp about 'loyalty', how many of you Bassos critics would be watching City home and away if things went horribly wrong (As in 1982) and we hit the basement? It could happen.....

No not a massive club, but this is how Johnson operates, just ask lee trundle who is on far more money than Basso is on currently.

It's proving to be a very good recipe for the gaffer, who has a superb CV to date.

No not at all piggy.

Mr Basso has made his intentions clear, we picked him up from the scrapheap that is non league, and gave him a new lease of life that is well documented.

He was offered superb money to stay with us, and turned it down flat.

Next please.........................

Next indeed.

So every player we get from a lower league club is from the scrapheap and they owe their very soul to us? And to support this blind faith theory you quote that bastion of balanced journalism The Sun?

He was offered an undisclosed sum, quoted by the club as very good, quoted by the player as...well not at all. And he turned it down. He's allowed to. He's a professional.

And has behaved in a professional manner by handing in a written transfer request and not whining in general. And believe me there is more than one pair of ears around here that would lap it up.

We got a bargain, he's had a row the way many footballers do because they think they are worth more money, generally because they are thick, and if he plays against Preston and plays a blinder I will still back him.

If for any reason his attitude is in doubt then the final decision is out of his hands.

The same way that chip was against Wolves.

So that's somewhere in the region of £12-£15K a week being wasted. It might be how GJ operates, but spending more than we earn is not how SL operates! Even when he fell out with Phillips, he put him on the bench as we had no other choice.
