Red_Mat
Couldn't help thinking about some of our defending recently when I saw this. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/8503280.stm A number of the goals we've conceded - especially those against Cardiff - were scored from counter attacks. We don't concede many spectacular goals or from set pieces. Instead, teams break away, cause a small amount of confusion down the channels and beat Orr/McAllister/Carey/McCombe for pace and a simple, effective run across one of the back four/five by one of the opposition causes panic in the ranks. Riaz
Bell's goal against us last week was a quality goal to be fair.
Red_Mat
Bell's goal against us last week was a quality goal to be fair. True, and to be fair you can't really account for the odd quality goal; they're quality for a reason. But ones you can do something about include counter attacks, which we have proved quite susceptible recently. Is it because Carey's lost his pace? Is it because Orr lets too many crosses in? Is it because McCombe has the turning circle of the Jahre Viking!? Who knows!
