As much as I love him, time has caught up with Louis Carey and he's getting more inconsistent than ever. Wonder who else will be on their way out? Agree with Carey, also think the fringe players will be on their way out. B Wilson, McCombe, L Johnson, Akinde (Season Loan). Also think a few suprise players could be gone aswell. Maynard? foghornred Posted April 25, 2010 Share Posted April 25, 2010 As for Lee Johnson,when he came back from loan he said he wanted to remain at City and had 18 months to go on his contract and was settled in Bristol with his kid just starting school so I doubt if he will go. As for the others if they are still in contract someone has to buy them if you put them on the transfer list and they have to want to leave. This is odd because that doesn't tally with what Coppell was quoted as saying. "tinkering around the edges" suggests a few odd changes rather than sweeping ones. Likely: Orr Fontaine Maynard Skuse Hartley Haynes JCR Maybe: Carey (age allowing) Elliott (if he continues to slowly regain form) Ribeiro (if he's as good as his few performances this season) Clarkson (if he gets fit and gets a run) The rest? Not for me. I know a few of them have before in our first season but that season was an anomaly in terms of how weak the competition was and how much momentum we had. We played very tight football and edged almost every game we won, not a feat likely to be repeated. I'd think opportunities to replace any of the other players with better ought to be fairly easy to come by and should be taken though obviously SC won't want to make that many changes in one go and much will depend on contracts. Players who've played little this season or don't fit the preferred system (comments on wingers would would seem to mean 442) will probably be likely to go so that would mean Collis, B Wilson, McCombe, Trundle, Williams and LJ possibly most likely with loan players obviously gone too. Haynes will be on most City fans 'retain' list I'm sure, and he only joined last summer so I'd have thought it unlikely he'll be going anywhere. Speroni and ambrose. agree with most but hope hartley stays. Speroni is class and would give us a great foundation to build from. I was praying we we went in for ambrose when charlton got relegated (I'm sure he was on a free transfer aswell). Other possible targets for the attacking/goal scoring/creative option IMO could/should be somthing like jordie gomez(sensational for swansea last season but not worked out this year in the prem), Robert koren(fell out of favour around the jan transfer window and probably out of reach but thought I'd give him a mention as to me coppell was out of reach), Adel taarabt and Hugo collace. As far as the center half goes ingamarson seems to keep coming given his conections with coppellO and the fact he's out of contract in the summer so could be a possibility. Other center halfs I have come up with who I think could fit the bill in terms of getAbility are mawenny from Preston, de merrit from Watford, shittu from Bolton and loovens from Celtic(although I think loovens is left footed so not sure if he would fit ,as at the moment we have got lewin and fonts), and of course we have James Wilson who I hope gets his chance next year. As for the target man not many are springing to mind that I would like to see here or think we could get. Maybe hulse,iwelumo or even a cheeky bid for adebola. I know kitson has been mentioned a lot but think he may be to exspensive. Any ideas who else is out there? I see the talk of a 'real' left winger have gone fairly quiet and I belive we need and will go after one. There dosent seem to be many of these around either these but damarcus beasly is out of contract from Glasgow rangers in the summer. Is left footed has Premier League expieriance and would bring that balance we so much need with jcr moving over to the right. Other names mentioned have been James harper and liam lawrence. I would welcome both these players with open arms by the way. As for the players leaving I think something along the lines of collis b.wilson boom Johnson Williams sno angry man jamie mac possibly depends wat happens with sawer All IMO but if were really going to move to the next level then I believe we do need a shake up similar to the above, then again I suppose that why I'm not a manager.
