GrahamC
Pretty simple question really, before Nicky Maynard, who was the last person to score 20 league goals at this level for City? Ade Akinbiyi got 19 in our disastrous 98/99 relegation season, I'm certain no-one managed it in the Jordan/Lumsden/Smith/Osman eras before that, which takes us back to the Alan Dicks times, and I'm pretty sure neither Ritchie nor Cheesley did so in the promotion season, though that takes me right back to when I started watching City (circa 1973). Blimey, that's a long time ago, was it really Atyeo who did it last, then? Before anyone mentions them, Lita, Goater and Super Bob all got 20+ for us one level down from where we now play........... Guest
How many did Wayne Allison get in his times with us. I'm sure he had one decent season but that may have been third tier.

He got 15 Championship goals in the turgid Osman season (probably about 50% of the number we scored!) including a memorable hat trick at the Gate against Brum, when marked by that carthorse Richard Dryden, but he didn't get 20 in the league....... cider head
Based on that season of top scorer Maxwell 1905/06 div2 25 league goals John Atyeo 1955/56 div2 30 league goals 1956/57 div2 23 league goals 1957/58 div2 23 league goals 1958/59 div2 26 league goals John Galley 1971-72 div2, 22 league goals Tom ritchie came close with 18 in 1975/76 So it looks like galley was the last to hit 20+ goals at this level

Based on that season of top scorer Wayne Allison 1991/92 div2 scored 10 league goals 1993/94 div1 scored 15 league goals 1994/95 div1 scored 13 league goals Shaun goater 1996/97 div2 scored 23 league goals It all gets weird with the introduction of the premiership with division 2 became division 1 so i'm sure allison and goater may not count at this level? 22A
I know it was the third tier of football, but just for the record; 1989/90 season, Bob Taylor was to be the main marksman that season; in 46 appearances he scored 34 times. This was the best performance by a City player in over fifty years, but the title of Bristol's most prolific marksman remained with Alfie Biggs. He scored 37 times in 56 appearances for Rovers during the 1963/64 season.

Between 12-3-92 and 12-3-93 Soccerbase has Andy Cole having scored 20 league goals for us at second tier level...... admitted it's not over the course of regular season! ;-)
