September 2010 : Return To Huish Park Again? That's Super, Gav! Further to our earlier news, Yeovil Town have now confirmed the signing of Gavin Williams on loan from Bristol City. The midfield playmaker returns to Huish Park for a third time, following a highly influential loan spell last season. The 30 year old has an association with the club dating back to the summer of 2002 when he joined the club from Hereford United. His two and a half year stay grabbed him a £250,000 move to West Ham United in December 2004, and also played for Ipswich Town before Gary Johnson grabbed him back to the West Country whilst he was Bristol City manager.

Gavin's second spell with the club came in March 2010, when he arrived back at Huish Park on loan. His first game was certainly a mixed one. A goal, an 'assist' that forced the opposition Hartlepool United to score an own goal ... and a red card. However, upon his return from suspension, he became the team's linchpin. Across the eight games he played, whilst he was on the pitch he was involved in all of the goals Yeovil Town scored in open play, with only two Gavin Tomlin penalties scored without his influence. Gavin contributed five of those goals, with the remainder being created by him, transforming the team's fortunes almost single-handedly and setting up a strong partnership with Dean Bowditch, who he knew from his Ipswich Town days.

Gavin arrives back at the club looking to add to the 26 goals and 118 appearances that he has made so far. He has signed a one month loan at this stage. Football League rules allow that to be extended out by up to 93 days if all parties agree.

Reading that it really does make you wonder why he wasn't given a run of games with us in his favoured position, or why Johnson bothered to bring him here in the first place. I always felt he did well when played in a more attacking central midfield role.

Gavin Williams off to Yeovil surely means someone is coming in before sat ?

It might do, but let's face it we have an obscene number of players in our squad at the moment, and any or all of the following might go out on loan without anyone coming in: Henderson, Edwards, Jackson, Ball, Lennox, Hoban, Keohane.

BTW, I notice that Styvar's name is not listed on player profiles on the official site. I thought he had a squad number? Have I missed something?
