Cider red
Looking to move stadium, bit of a joke really seeing as it was built for them. What are they going to use it for now? what a waste....just goes to show a new stadium doesn't always bring success, although it does help if you don't have a ridiculous rent agreement you cant fulfil! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22581748
BS15_RED
Sounds to me that they're trying to get some leverage with the landlords, after all if they move out of the Ricoh, then the stadium will become a White Elephant for the owners as they will have no income from it, what other sports club in the Coventry area is going to use it. SWRed
They'll end up back there. What else will that stadium be used for? Clever move my Coventry - they really hold the power here and good for them for having the balls for playing their cards.

Bristol Rob
I heard a consortium were looking to by them as well as a 50% stake in the stadium. It was on TalkSport last week.

I thought there was a casino there which bought in far more than the football club. Maybe I'm thinking about a different ground Edit Just checked. The ricoh arena is so much more than a football stadium. I doubt they care that much if the football club stay or go.

Edit If they do ground share at Walsall then that's another nice short journey to look forward to, not that the Ricoh was a hard trip!

cheese
Hinckley has been mentioned. Think less than 6500 capacity. Ooh, I hope so - that's only 3 miles from me, would make our trip there so easy to see! Coventry threatening to leave the Ricoh is like Eve threatening to leave Adam. There's no one else for either of them to hook up with. Umh, apart from the Casino, a number of concerts, the hotel. Quite a bit of non-football actually. The casino is packed most nights. screech
Nibor you've confirmed what he said was right-Steve Lansdown holds the whole lot. Bristol City own NOTHING and have nothing other than a man who was willing to fork out millions to try to bring you success. Someone who whilst he has said he will not recall the debt has never wrote those debts to the football club off despite people on here who seem to expect him to do so. Why would any sane man write off the debt- if he did that he would leave himself in a position where he cleared the debt one day and was sacked the next. Why would he write it off? What benefit would it have to him if he wrote his own debt off? Explain?
Peter O Hanraha-hanrahan
Why would he write it off? What benefit would it have to him if he wrote his own debt off? Explain? If he wanted out, However, it doesn't appear that he does want to cut ties with the club especially as he has put his own son on the board (whether everyone thinks JL is doing a good job is another debate). The fact we still have Lansdown who is prepared to stump up the cash for an AG redevelopment if AV falls through, pisses off Gasheads immensely. The day he writes off the debt is the day I think he's going.

The point I was trying to make is that if SL did sell the club, but retained ownership of Ashton Gate, the clubs prized asset, then it would in my opinion be very worrying. He said that Lansdown owns the stadium and not BCFC. It's not really true. The football club and stadium are owned by the holding company which is the only company that shares are traded in. Lansdown owns the club and stadium in the same way every previous owner has, the same way the shareholders of your pisspot club do too. The two are tied together. Every football club has owners... what do you perceive as the problem here? The mind boggles. There's nothing unusual, or different, no reason to be wary for us thanks. We have a billionaire fan owning our club, it's a nice position to be in thanks. On the debts, you have no idea what you're talking about. SL has MANY times written off debts by converting them to shares and this is being arranged at the moment for the current debt. Wait and see. And how exactly would anybody sack the majority shareholder? Don't be ridiculous. For information - your shareholders and a number of other less friendly creditors are owed significant debt by your club and have never actually written any off. Nor has any been paid off. These people are far less wealthy and able to suck it up than SL. If I were you I would concern myself with that is likely to happen at your own club. We're in far, far better hands than your sorry lot.
