22A
Apparantly it takes 2 years to produce a season's fixture list! The 2004/05 list is currently being produced. Full details on this site. http://www.football-league.premiumtv.co.uk...,,10794,00.html Have they planned for City to be in the Prem by then? CiderEagle
I was at college with a girl whose Dad's job was actually to draw up the footy fixtures every year, which he did on his own - this was way before the advent of computers. Interesting to read that teams of both people and computers are now required - progress, eh? She reckoned that if you asked him REALLY nicely he'd give your team a particular fixture on a particular day (say, your birthday).
Rule The Waves
That must be one of the most annoying frustrating jobs in the world if you had to do it all yourself without a computer :Rage:
Guest pogue mahone
you'd have thought that they could avoid sending torquay to carlisle on boxing day like they did a couple of years ago considering the amount of planning involved
Lita For Congo
I Always thought this, but why dont they use what Championship Manager do? In our divison you would play the 23 teams then you would play them in that order but the venue reversed. Good piece of fact though that is it must be said. Club requirements. I could go on.....

I could go on..... Yeh you are right but all you would need to do is alter some of the fixtures around. Change a few dates ect. As they do this anyway, they release the fixtures to Chairmen apparently about 2 weeks before then release the final one ot the fans.
Guest spanish fly
once upon a time football fixtures were worked out by PEOPLE and incredibly, a team used to play at home one week and then - great surprise - away the following week and this used to happen throughout the season and then just to add spice, on bank holidays there used to be local derbies or as near as possible - then children, the big bad all knowing computers were used and whatever ###### programmed them arranged for us to have only 2 league home games in about 2 months - well thats progress folks. RedM
It must take some working out but there has been some really long (unnecessary) journeys for some fans over Xmas / Easter etc. No doubt the fixtures are calculated and then Sky, and the various cup games then come along and get them rearranged. Is this what the club secretary sorts out?

If you read the article, you will notice a computer isn't used and that it is infact done manually.
