"we May Have To Sell Jet" - Sod

Red Ferret

Recommended Posts

Have had problems with some of SODs comments in the past but this time I see it as being quite shrewd if we want to sell. The question is how bad will we fall if we do lose him. For what price do we think the new claiming poverty bcfc would sell?

you mean we are not failing with him? and almost any

And just where exactly did SOD play him for the entire second half? Stuck out on the wing.

If you read jets interview in the post, and their managers, that looks like jets choice

Bizarre. Why say this? I've been incredibly disappointed with pretty much every aspect of SOD's reign so far. His relationship with the fans is very poor. As for today, a 3 - 0 win against Dagenham was nice, but the tactics employed were still very questionable.

Very seasonal - this news has pissed right on my bonfire.

If we're still hovering around the relegation zone come January selling JET could be a huge gamble. Why not wait until the summer?

Because waiting till the summer will most likely loose a fair whack of his saleable value, IMO if he continues in his current vein of form his value will most likely peak in January, unless the board can get him to sign a contract extension.

Season ticket holder for 8 years in a row now, I hate everything about this club now and watch the results through sky sports news with a season ticket in my wallet!!! This club is the laughing stock of the football league!!!

No were are not.

We are the same as every other club outside of the top 6/8 in the prem......................................welcome to the wonderful world of BCFC :P

Yeah, your soooo right, he should have employed different tactics so we could have lost 3-0.

I just want to point out that "may" is not the same as "will".

correct its just managers talk, boardroom talk imo is will, when any offer comes.

Jets goals have saved SoD's neck right now so he would be better off issuing a 'hands off' warning to other clubs, even if he knows deep down he is likely to sell. This would get fans onside, and he could do with that, and send out a message to the board we need to keep our best asset. I can't think SoD wants to sell, he would only have to find another goal scorer, and we haven't got another here at the moment. This in turn just heaps the pressure back on himself if goals dry up and so do points.

No, you must learn some comprehension, the article seems bullshit to me.

Whats with the childish nickname ? Bit pathetic for a grown bloke.

You must learn also to state what your comment refers to, and the nickname is easy to spell.

Apologies for being a 60year old "bit pathetic" grown bloke, Iaugh and a joke bypass have you?

I got your joke, unfortunately it's the sort of joke you'd expect from a child not an adult.

Still they say you regress as you get older, some obviously quicker than others!

Since when has mocking someone in every post about / related to them a joke ? If it was a joke you would have used it maybe once or twice.. You continue to use it, so it's not joke, it's derision.

3 million? What did we get for Maynard and Albert?

Not sure what we got for Albert nor Maynard for that matter. All undisclosed fees, which always leans towards sold at a loss. Or bought for more than we publicly wanted to pay for him. But we did officially buy Maynard for 2.2 million (club record). We certainly did not get that for him when we sold him on.

Ha what team is that they lost to? Cant see us falling quite that far if he goes thank god.

They lost 4-1 today to Oxford City (The poor sister of glamour side Oxford United) in the Skrill North League.

Sad times for a proper football club which got into difficulties. They were still getting the odd 10,000 attendance in the conference.

No surprise at all, been saying this for weeks; any championship club could take him with any sort of bid; the problem with our new plan is; find any one decent and they are gone. So its back to square 1 and then again and again; Also resulting the fact that, most of any money made will not be going into the transfer kitty shall we say.

Out of all drearys signings and money down the drain loans he`s the only money making signing dreary has made, so we will cash in for sure.

This results in us going no-where and debts being called in by stealth.

My god Glos, you're talking some awful bollux tonight!

So, "Dreary's" signings have no value?  Are you telling me that the vastly improving Derek Williams, signed for NOTHING, is not worth more now than he was 5 months ago?

Are you telling me that Bryan & Reid, both of whom were pretty much going nowhere under previous managers, do not have a significantly higher market value than they did 5 months ago?

Parrish - signed for nothing.  Worth something now don't you think?

As for "money down the drain loans".  Who are these then?  O'Connor came in on loan, did ok and then got injured.  Dunk the same.  McLaughlin was brought in as a good cover option for a position where we lacked depth.  None of these will have cost very much.  Who are these "money down the drain" loans you speak of?

To be honest, I'm not even sure why I've bitten on this post, but sadly, some folks will actually listen to what you have to say Glos, and I'd like to point out what a whole heap of bullcrap it is!

missing a little point in all this, JET is under contract, that works both ways, sod could agree to sell, the board accept an offer but JET has to agree terms and want to go too.

if this happens,he isnt a city asset any more towards our team,he could even turn the team over by seeing out his contract and going on a free

Blimey.  What a ridiculous discussion.

Why on earth is anyone getting annoyed about our manager simply acknowledging reality?  As Harry has said it's blindingly obvious that JET is too good for us and this division.  The only decision that matters is the price we agree to sell at in January.   He has  been covering us as an attacking force.  When the team shows signs of functioning properly on a consistent basis, I think we should sell.  If this happens by January then sell then as we can buy a decent League 1 striker with the money from the transfer and the saved wages.  He will be worth less next summer that's for sure.

they lied sorry, as did shanks with the "some people think football is a matter of life and death... its more important than that" or something like that comment; absolute no where nearly or  remotely right, just words.

That article is a load of bollux IMO.

I don't think you are far wrong re him having a little spat with the club - just as he seemed to be getting a bit professional, he reverts to type.

What you have to remember with Shithausen is that he may get on ok with SOD but other than that he has zilch contacts at the club and doesn't get on with Steve Lansdown.

Indeed it is.  Quantify your opinion then?

i'll do it for you Harry, Glos Old Boy has been over the years on this forum a quite vociferous 'happy clapper' if you like, in fact I called him the King of the happy clappers and win, lose or draw would come on here week after week and to lighten the mood and tell us perhaps things were not as bad as many of thought they were and I would say with about 10 games to go last season I noticed even his faith was slipping somewhat and I made comment about it.

and this season and I maybe wrong here but I think he feels as though he has had the shit kicked out of him by the club that he loves and I don't know about you but I genuinely find that really sad and as I said before if this club has managed that with this guy then I also genuinely believe that there is something seriously wrong at the moment with this club.

Will dreary get "the money" is the 64,000 dollar question? and if he did would he get anyone as good?, is another. Reality check is; we have just beaten 2 virtual/near recent non league teams, we have a long way to go yet.

Er Dag and Red are one point off L 2 play offs and Crawley 13th L1. Not "virtual/near non league" c'mon...

Bristol Rovers...now they ARE virtual/near non league...

Makes good business sense, any money will be profit. Baldock and Taylor can do a job. Baldock will be a different player with jet gone. Burnsy can step up to the plate too.

Make no mistake about it mind if sod goes begging to lansdown to keep him he'll fund it but I genuinely think we don't need him I think going forward we can be a threat without jet. As much as I'll miss him. Spend the money on Osbourne if he plays like he did Tues every game.

We get a mil+ that would tick all the boxes for me

He is far too good to be hanging around in D3 and we cant possibly expect him to turn down the chance to play in the Championship again or even back in the Prem. If he is to go in January, by thenhis performances/goals will hopefully have gone a long way to securing our safety and even giving us the momentum for a top 10 push. Good luck to the lad.

I have, since he arrived at city, (though not so much recently) been on regular talking terms with Jet, and he told me direct that one of the main reasons he came here was because he was assured he was going to be allowed to play 'his' football and it wasn't because of money, or because of SOD.

He told me how much being stuck out on the wing has stalled his career and both Ipswich and Cardiff did that to him.

He also said that tracking back etc was just not part of his game and it was more or less agreed in principle that it wouldn't be expected, confirming this free role.

He also said he is fit, has been since he arrived, and is the quickest at the club, just doesn't have the role of motoring about.

If he's going anywhere they will know how much of a luxury he is, and a talent, but in a competitive league like the champ, not many teams can afford that luxury, he didn't even get it in cardiffs playoff season.

I for one hope he stays forever! But as someone said earlier in this thread, here at Bristol City he will always be a big fish in a small pond, he's not a team player so will struggle again at a higher level.

Cash in if its big imo.

SOD has said that JETs role is nearly free, you can build a team around him. He also says that JET is a team player and knows he has to track back and knows what is expected of him.

Hmmmmmm

Agree. SL is a City supporter and Im sure he dont expect cash back from City at the moment.

Roman Abramovic was looking to buy Tottenham as he could see they had the potential to break into the "top 4" clubs in England. As he was being flown over London to White Hart Lane  he looked down at Stamford Bridge and said "I want that one"

SL is as much a City supporter as Alan Sugar

Bobby Reid !! Sell sell sell!!! He has not yet had a season of first team football!!

You can already see that Bob has a natural instinct. I think he'll be a fabulous player in 2-3 years. Even now, he holds his place on merit.

I doubt we'll get offers in Jan, so this discussion is hypothetical, but this lad could be central to City's squad in a few years.
