The Official Preston North End V Bristol City Match Day Thread

Just on the way home now. Cracking game, Preston probably shaded the 1st half but we were excellent after half time and their goal came against the run of play. Could, maybe should have won it but would have taken a point beforehand.

Great atmosphere from both sets of fans, the Flint song is a surefire winner.

Nearly there!

Pretty sure its not remotely possible for them, but they just need to match 3 MK results from here on in.

Didn't see the game today but Agard sounded much more involved and ok he missed a few chances but at least he sounded a threat as he was against Swindon. watched too many home games where you would of never known he was playing. credit to him.

Like you agree with that.

What has worried me more recently is he simply does not seem to be getting chances. If he is now getting them, I am much happier.

Ah ok, gotta be pretty much a given they will be the other auto side...

Not necessarily but I would say so yeah. MK are 5 points behind them with a better goal difference and level games. That has more chance of being turned around than Preston catching us but neither are pretty likely imo.

If you had to pick from the run-ins for MK, Preston and Swindon you'd be made not to take Preston's every time.

Predicting 9 points from gillingha, vale and county ha ha Probably come back to haunt me now that ha ha

Wow. That's somewhat odd. Don't get me wrong, I want Preston to come second, but that is odd. Almost gentlemanly.

Utter gibberish, wasn't sang at all! One fans made no noise & added nothing to the atmosphere.

Preston OB very glad to get this one over with, on arriving back at station after incident I was told in a joking but serious fashion "you lot have taken the pi55 today, more bother than Millwall & Leeds put togetger", I think he was half joking but all in all, a good day out,

Gillingham are a tough bunch, but think 7 points from those and you'll be beyond MK.

Just be a case then as to who'll be following us, and I still fancy Rochdale to sneak in and surprise everyone...

You deserve it after being top for most of the season. Today was tight and could have gone either way. Hope to see you next season! Any tips about swindons weak spots?

For a start tell Garner to rein in his physical game, they will try to get him sent off, that is a given IMO, they are league 1's oscar winners their play acting is at a professional level.

They've definitely got a soft spot for Aden Flint.

Hopefully we'll have Huntingdon fit for then as he's 6 ft 6 and has 8 or 9 goals from centre half. Officially 2442 city fans there today.

We've had that before. Port vale tried it on and it cost them their centre half.

This is what they think about you lot.

No doubt tomorrow if they got what S****horpe got when they played Preston five players with 6 black eyes from elbows the City manager will have to cuddle them all on the way home.

Get behind the ball, let them have possession and counter attack.

MK and us did it and both beat them 3-0 :)

That would suit us to a tee!

Their fans and team have been on the beach since November when they played us with 10 men for 84 minutes and won 1-0 at their place to win the league title. No joke, they won the title that day.

If you haven't seen it here it is.....

Swindon's weaknesses:

-defence

-their budget

-passing gusts of wind

-their sisters

-roundabouts

-Aden Flint

-respect

That's a few to be getting on with

To be fair I went down there last year and listened to their players on the way back on the radio and you'd have thought we should stand aside and just let them score unopposed.

I'd settle for another 3-0 win against them which I think you guys would enjoy as well from the sounds of it. Given the lack of The Gas in the last few years, are these lot your rivals?

Good day out in Preston. Had a drink before the match in the Deep Dale Labour Club courtesy of a chap we met on the street.. lovely salt of the earth type. That got the day off to a nice positive start; mutual appreciation and all that. City deserved to win, we bossed it for many periods. Happy with a draw though; 1 point ahead of my prediction now :)

Next up Bradford.. think we can celebrate promotion on Tuesday night. :)

Dover are a bunch of ferries.

Genuine question.

Many years ago (I played at a reasonable {County League} level) it would be nothing when, following a 'hard' tackle, a player would say something akin to 'Get up you big girl's blouse' or 'Get up you f...ing poof'.

I repeat, genuine question, but would such language be allowed today?

I don't know the answer to your question and i suspect that those in the kick out homophobia campaigns would like to think you'd get sent off for the latter... but i think you'd struggle to find a ref who'd take any action.

In Preston and so far been started on by 4 different groups of their fans just for walking round with a city scarf on.

Not whinging about it, but come on, 4 times!

Safe to say they're fired up.

And yes I've put my scarf away...

Walked from Town centre and saw a couple of minor scuffles. Prestons "yoof" making a lot of noise then running from a larger, and much older group of City fans.

Genuine answer, i'm sure one day they will, because football has been sanitised to church hall levels. the first one is ok, the 2nd one would be offensive if the recipient was gay I suppose, but how would you know?, but I would hope if he is playing football at that level he would take as part as the rough and tumble of what used to be a contact sport.

The difference between real offence and genuine heat of the moment throwaway lines I would have thought is obvious. or else where would it end?, a list of banned words?, the list would end up as a book and most footballers don't read books.

There's a serious love in going on twitter between our fans and Preston with a little thanks to our aden and our new club anthem!

Both clubs should be proud of its support. Mutual respect and genuine praise being banded around.

By the sounds of it, aden said no no no will be coming to a ground near you if you happen to be playing Swindon over the coming weeks! !

Hope it sticks for a while. A Swindon win at Wembley might put the brakes on it.
