The Official Champions V Brentford Match Day Thread

I understand that, I've been there a few times.Due to other commitments I am not a ST holder (now a member), it is frustrating that club say the game is sold out yet there are plenty of seats of available. Can you make the excuse that hundreds of fans have tickets but have not turned up?

I expect it will be due to the safety certificate that the council were prepared to issue, which might have seen City have to reduce the capacity.

Normally new stands and/or stadiums do a dry run using a pre season game to establish that all safety systems are working ok, but even though they opened the doors in the week for the U18's game, it may not have attracted enough spectators to achieve the right certificate.

sounds like an awful decision, anyone there able to comment?

According to RB commentator  Freeman raise a high foot for the ball and their player was on his blind side and Freeman couldn't see their player stooping for the ball and caught him in the face.  Bad decision by Stroud, but then he is a very contraversial REF!

Own goal by Williams!   Just not our day and the bad start continues

City will be doing what they usually do, I can now confirm; being the last team to finish a match in England if not the UK following a 3pm kick off.

Stroud makes another blunder and misses a free kick award to City. He really is looking forward to a face off with Cotts.

HT. 2-2

Fair to say Brentford's defence is crap; that's eight goals conceded in two and a half games.

Hope we look at this at h/t and feel we can get something more out of this.

Yep our defence is all over the place at the moment... our record CB signing (the unfortunately-named Bjelland) played one game for us and is out for the season; the curse of the new Brentford signing continues. Josh McEachran also broke his foot before even making his debut for us.. It's a Brentford tradition.

Good luck to you guys this season; I'll be following you and hope you are successful

Make no mistake that could have been 4-0 at one point. We had Brentford in a right state. Trouble is we look nervous at the back every time they attack.

Special mention for the ref who's been appalling all game. The Freeman red card the highlight where it looked like an unfortunate clash that was purely accidental.

#26 for Brentford should be playing for Swindon

Cheers for that Tomarse.

Might be hard to call, but think there is any chance we can get more than a point from this?  Or more likely they'll turn the screw now?

This Brentford side resembles NOTHING of last year's. Whatever warburton had instilled this new bloke looks to have ripped apart and shat on with continental cheating. They will not be popular this year if that half was anything to go by.

Two poor goals to give away from our perspective. happy to put down possibly a lack of sharpness than quality to be truthful. But Brentford have been void of purpose, urgency and it's one of the worst displays of gamesmanship I've seen in one half of football. Can see this match lingering in memories for a few years.

Like the way Kodjia has been. He's going to get chances with his movement, if his finishing is good.. Bargain.

Ayling was brilliant in setting up the first.

To be fair; as my fellow Red's pointed out, we've only conceded one less, so we're just as crap at the back!

As long as you score more! And you guys are full of goals.. you'll be fine this season, and will probably finish well above us

kodjia has sounded very promising today, sounded like the brentford cb's were struggling to handle him

Think that's very fair. Remaining grounded as it was only a 45 minute display after all, but his movement gives cause for optimism. I can see why Cotts thinks we might have done a very good deal.
