I'd have been happy with a point pre-game, so that's a good start to what hopefully is an improvement in our fortunes.

Still concerned at our inability to keep out goals, and quite what is going on with our bench; fancy it might be a sign to the board that SC needs some backing, perhaps?

Before the game I would've taken a point but considering we were up with less than 5 minutes remaining, I think it hurts. Maybe tomorrow the lads can look back and say we played well but today it hurts.

Again badically no subs used or used much too late. Sure we could've used fresh legs. I know Pack and Wilbs are tall and can help in the box defensively but we were already quite big back there. An away point is good but considering all things should've had 3.

must win at home to MK dons

Got to be honest, I don't share in the mass moaning but I think Cotterill is being a right Diva with this 6 on the bench b0ll0ck$. We were amateur enough as it was in our pre-season and recruitment full stop but this type of thing just makes us look like a Sunday Pub outfit. We must be the only professional football club in England that cannot fill a bench - except we can because we could stick an Under 21 on there (scrap the Academy if NONE of them are up to it, simple as that).

The 3 that came up are in the bottom 3 no great surprise but we are playing football and will kick on yet.

very ironic but I still think that as time goes on we will settle and our form will come through as we ARE playing football, different to when we were last in the Championship.

Whats the point of filling the bench just for the sake of it ? And why is the club amateur ?

It used to be five on the bench - don't know why they changed it to seven, seems ott to me.

Six is more than enough.

2-2 draw at Ipswich, 6 on the bench doesn't appear to make any difference at all.

But you and others have to find something to moan at I suppose.

We have space so why not give the youngsters match day experience?  Smacks of dummy throwing to be honest.

If you have a 7th you can use it to give a young starlet an experience of first team away games, if you have 7 it means that you can effectively cover every single position and then some. It simply decreases the chances of having to play people out of position. Why in any world would you not have 7 players on the bench? Its Cotts making a point that has already been made. Lloyd Kelly would've been a nice person to have on the bench, he can cover Baker and Bryan.

It's sad that you have to explain this to some people.

7 players gives you 7 options to change things; it's something the opposition have at their disposal, so why limit and deny ourselves that?

We've got a good point today; no question, and while I don't share the idea that a 6 person bench is in any way making us look amateur, it is more than just not bothering to fill it - it limits SC's options, and even if he rarely changes his team's, he doesn't tend to run with a cut-size bench, so I think this is a message.

You're a moaner pal, nothing more than that.

Club amateur, Cotterill a diva etc etc etc.

I think its you that needs to grow up, I'd stop the dummy spitting if I were you - makes you look a bit stupid.

Whatever Clever Clogs, you are the one with the 15K of posts on this forum, all positive of course.

Why oops? 2-2 draw away at Ipswich is anything but pathetic.

Love how people just jump on the team the moment we concede with constructive comments like 'pathetic'

good point away I agree, I just find "in game" point scoring amongst posters amusing as it always comes back to bite people on the ass.

Which ever way you look at it,

Good point.

Annoying to concede another 2 goals . Minus 8 GD in 9 games is poor and you don't have to have an FA badge to work out where the problems are.

Great that Kodjia is scoring regularly, imagine what he could be like when he understands his team mates !

Now that's out of the way I really don't get SC acting like a petulant child with the bench, he's proving nothing and potentially making problems for himself/the team. Cutting his nose of to spite his face, as me dear old Mum used to say.

I'm concerned, but not overly worried. We had a spell last year when we conceded 13 in 7, we tightened up and need to do the same soon. The team needs tweaking not wholesale changes  . A win next week could start to put a different complexion on the season so far, mind you , lose and some peoples heads will explode on here.

its mad that one of the youngsters couldn't be on the bench, very puzzling.think Cotts can be a little eccentric at times, though pleased to say not as much so as 'o dismal!!!

On a different note. Listening to Radio Bristol , the interviews were on.

The Squatters manager's dismal moaning passed me by. SC was ok , we should have won the game apparently.

But bloody hell how boring is Paul Sturrock, he has to be the dullist man in the world. If i had a bridge near me ( I'm at home so doubtful I know) I'd have thrown myself off. There rant over, and not about City

I really did fancy the win, honest guv I did, but by damn I'll gladly take the draw and accept the point with open hands.

Well done to the City lads, you've got to say that's a decent draw against one of the better Championship teams, and all the more satisfying in their own patch.

Now on to MK Dons and the chance to give them a mauling.

Me Very much happy with a point at Ipswich. It's a shame we are still porous at the back, and I'll need to see the highlights before I can discuss how they could've been prevented however a point that was very much needed has been earned.

So what next then? Well a crucial match against MK Dons. Crucial in that

a) we have to win back points lost from Rotherham

b) we have to show progression from last season.

Steve has to get us sorted out at home and make teams fear playing at Ashton Gate. The first twenty minutes will be crucial. We cannot concede during them. If we can make it to half time, then that's even better.

I also hope that Kodjia is going under the radar of those in the market for a striker. I fear a situation could arise a la Matt Smith in that he almost could do too well for us and attract interest we can't ignore.

Well when you consider how much we were going to spend on Gray and Gayle, anything is (unfortunately) possible.

Can you imagine SL sanctioning selling one of our best players if we're still near the bottom? I just can't. Sometimes that's to his detriment. Brentford, for example, would; we often let pride/fear get in the way of rational decision making when it comes to selling players.

(insert players 'jump on it/get on it' name as appropriate)

We've had a patchy start to the season so far many of us are 'confused' by this ....

Its time now for us all to... Jump On It... Jump On It.. Jump On It... (dump the 'patchy' let's get with the Apache..

City - Get On It ..Get On It... Get On It!.....

If Lansdown was willing to spend £9m on a further striker then he clearly there is absolutely no financial pressure to sell one for a similar figure. I cannot see Kodjia going anywhere.

Thought Little could've done more to get in front of Fraser for the equalizer.  Before the game I would've said its a good draw but feels like we can't catch the break we need at the moment. Sure Freeman had some luck in the goal but for the most part we can't catch a break.

Some save from Frankie to keep out our player`s back header.

I reckon Freeman made his own luck, it was a really powerful run and he held off a couple of players to even get the shot in. Good save from Gerken from JK but no chance with the second - terrific finish.

Looked like Pitman could have won it at the end so got to be happy with the point.

Ah well...decent game that one, enjoyed it, that's a good result & actually thought we defended ok, esp in the air. A few things we need to improve on imho

movement off the ball.....too many occasions where players are looking up with nothing to pass to today

calm heads when clearing...understandable but too many panic station hacks clear.

subs.....yeah when the legs have gone(wilbs didn't look like he could get off the ground for headers from about 60)

On to mk. I think we'll win that.

Sturrock has Parkinson's disease, not MS.

If it is then that also affects the motor skills and probably the speech as well.  My late mother had Parkinson's, it is a terrible condition  and makes various parts of your body shake, usually the head, arms and legs.  When she contracted Cancer, the Parkinson's condition disappeared, so it looked like a case of the worse condition taking over.  Still very sorry for Paul and I hope he can continue in his work, as he has a very tough job at Yeovil.

He was diagnosed with it at Plymouth and carried on for a while but I believe the pressure got to him in the end and he moved on. He was always up front about it - no problem with being interviewed about it on the local news - and I think he tried to bring home to people that you can carry on in a high profile job with a condition like that which perhaps helped others who have it. He popped up again at Southend (?) for a while but thought he had retired after that. Really surprised when he took the Yeovil job so I suppose he doesn`t want to let it beat him. Takes some courage to do the interviews I think - it would be easy to pass it on to someone else.

Oh yes, that was a great Arabs team, McAlpine, Hegarty, Narey, Milne, Sturrock, Dodds, Ray Stewart... etc etc.

Not a very well known fact but Dundee Utd are the only team to have played Barcelona in Europe and never lost to them, played 4 won 4 !!

They played them in the 1966/67 Fairs Cup and the 1987 UEFA Cup.

Now, people who know me on here are aware that I'm also a pretty big Jags fan (Partick Thistle) for very good reasons.

Anyway, I've been to Tannadice a few times to watch Dundee U vs Jags and the Utd fans I've encountered are horrible types, real big chip on their shoulders because they aren't from Glasgow - but you can never deny that team they had in the late eighties was top notch...

As regards the bench , perhaps it's just a way to avoid paying another hotel room and meals .

In that case we ought to name just the three subs then !! But in all seriousness you can't use a saving of probably £200 as reasoning when you take into account we have been bidding £7m for players (it would take us 35,000 away matches or 1,522 seasons to balance one off against the other !!).

Just out of curiosity after reading the full Ipswich squad listed in the programme.

We knew about Gerken, Skuse & Pitman, but they also had; Emmanuel, Parr & Crowe.

Just on the off chance, are any of them related to the former City players with those surnames?
