LJ Retirement from playing

just out of interest does anyone know why LJ retired from playing? Was there an injury involved or was it because he was so keen to get on into Management? I had a little look around the web and couldn't see any reference to an injury so assumed it was the latter.

Don't know either but I also assumed the latter! Either that or he just knew it was never gonna get any better than Kilmarnock!

I suppose so, he doesn't appear to need the money as it's common knowledge that he has done well in property development, I guess he thought he might as well get on with his preferred career rather than ligging around the lower divisions for the next 4/5 years then trying to find a job.

Heard somewhere that a knee injury made his mind up for him to go into management, I could be wrong, just heard it somewhere.

Someone I know, who's ITK, said it was because Johnson knew he was coming back to manage City and he wanted OTIB aficionados to ponder about the mystery for years

From what I've been told, LJ only ever had eyes for coaching and even during his playing career would pick managers and coaches brains for ideas. I guess he got to an age where he was ready to begin his career and an injury may have been the final push

After he retired he went travelling around the world to educate himself further. Doesn't really shed any light on the orginal question tho.

Must have been a quick trip!

left Kilmarnock end Jan2013, applied for Oldham job end Feb, appointed Mar 18.
