Granty
Following on from the thread regarding footbal hooliganism (sp), if someone does get banned from a particular ground or a number of them, how is this enforced. Are we relient on the watchful eye of the guy's at the turnstiles, the police looking on the off chance or do you have to report somewhere before a game takes place. Just curious to find out how it's done (if it is at all that is). G.
Guest WillsbridgeRed
In my experience the football "spotters" do an excellent job of routing out people on bans. They have a huge book with thousands of pictures in it - Which i expect myself, and many others feature in when having our pictures taking for simply taking a train to a match
Granty
exactly my point, it seems a very sloppy and random approach to take. I too have had my mug shot taken a number of times, normally when eating a pie when placed in the away end (I guess this could be just for marketing purposes and nothing more sinister !!) What happens to these mug shots when they are taken then ??, are they kept if you (not personally) cause trouble and then ditched if you behave?. EDIT:spelling again
Guest GUERNSEY TAFFY RED
After recieving a ban myself (not for hooliganism, may i add), i was informed by Keith Drasey that prior to kick off, the grounds cameras scan every row and every stand for known banned supporters. If a banned supporter is spotted he is then evicted from the ground and then faces a possible life ban from the ground.
Guest Hodges17
What was the ban for, if you don't mind me asking? Just wondering what you can get banned for.

Guest Hodges17
Standing? that's harsh. i've never been in a ground where i havent seen people standing in a seating area. was that City that did that to you?
Guest Neo
From programmes I have seen on hooliganism it is based on spotters (for such things as local bans); if I was ejaculated on Saturday and banned, then I think it's down to local police to identify me on camera. For serial offenders, they normally have to report to a Police Station at a given time which means they could not possibly get to the game. I often wondered if somebody had to attend Bishopsworth Police Station at 3:30 pm (for arguments sake), there isn't a lot stopping him from being around the ground an hour or so before and after kick-off (kick-off as in match; not Hen & Chicken!) Happens quite a lot down the Gate, even if there are 1000 away fans standing in the Wedlock, stewards are more likely to throw out the bread and butter of the club. Guest Hodges17
that's ridiculous. it's not like your throwing punches or bricks is it? did you just get thrown out or were you banned for a specific period of time?
Guest GUERNSEY TAFFY RED
I was escorted out of the ground and then issued with an indefinite ban, but i appealed against this and the ban was reduced to 3 games. However during the ban i was not allowed near the club, not even the club shop. I still feel bitter about this, even though it was a year ago. Guest Hodges17
don't blame ya. What a way to treat a supporter. as long as your'e not pushing or being violent i really don't see the problem.
Guest GUERNSEY TAFFY RED
Just annoyed by the stewards who seemed to have double standards, if you kick one out for standing, you kick everyone out.
Guest WillsbridgeRed
Thrown at for standing! I've been so drunk at football grounds I've had to cling onto crush barriers for dear life, and noones ever said anything, even though this is a criminal offence. Against QPR in div I dropped my season ticket out side, could barely talk when trying to sort out trying to get into the ground and not a eyebrow was lifted! Talk about wrong priorities! Guest Hodges17
or you just don't kick anyone out. there not causing trouble. most stewards are good-for-nothing jobsworths with nothing better to fill their time anyway. they just enjoy the little power trip they get out of it. Club and Country
At the Cardiff game last year, i was talking to a copper, and he had about 4 pages of known faces from both teams, I'm think you will find the police study these alot before the game, and generally know who the main people involved are

Well they don't do a very good job watching the screens then, I know of a few people that are banned from the gate for life and still get in whenever they attend matches and have never been thrown out after either. bucksred
To add a comment to the stewards debate, couple of seasons back in the Atyeo, (think it was the Wigan game) a couple of guys got chucked out, just before half time, I think for chanting "stand up if you hate Man U", or thats what someone near them reckoned, -adds to the ambeiance of the occaion does it not, if true. Explains the dead atmosphere a lot of the time. The East End petitions make more sense now I got chucked out of Stamford Bridge for celebrating a goal Chelsea scored against Spurs in a FA cup game years ago- celebrating a goal fer Chrissakes, a rare thing that season for Chelsea!!, and likewise got reduced from a season to 3 games- needless to say I aint ever been back, likewise my mate, a then Season ticket holder who got lobbed out for the same thing And no I aint proud of it, just p*****d off-It aint big or clever
