I’m guessing we won’t get picked for tv much. Possibly at home to top 3 or 4 for the benefit of their supporters who won’t travel in numbers. Might have to accommodate rugby once or twice though.

I know a fair few Man City/Arsenal supporters who are annoyed that their games get moved for TV, especially if it's an early or late kick off away which would cause travel issues for some. Also, the potential clash with their men's teams playing in Premier League games on Sundays - we don't have that issue just yet...

Being reported that Brooke Aspin will shortky sign for Chelsea when she turns 18. Deal being worked out that would see her loaned back for the 2023/24 season.

Saw this news as well. Although the article I saw did not definitely say she'd be loaned back, but rather loaned out (most likely to City).

I think it's a great move that I'd like to see for Brooke eventually - but she wouldn't get into the Chelsea first team right now. And Emma Hayes has been known for the ridiculous squad depth & loaning out other players

For those that still follow the careers of former City players - Meaghan Sargeant has been forced to retire from football due to injury, and Gemma Evans has been linked with a move to Manchester United away from Reading (who have announced that Kelly Chambers is leaving after 20 years at the club)

As she was only an academy player, hopefully this new move means that City would get compensation if she moves to another club..

Interesting to hear that Newcastle women are going full time.. Nothing odd in that itself but they are in the third tier

Wonder if that’s a concerted push, but also a proactive measure to ensure the transition required for Tier 2 and full-time is made easier.  No point getting promotion with a team of players who’ve no intention of going full-time…and then needing a complete re-build.  It is of course a gamble, but I like the intention.

Got promoted to National League North last season. Will be the first third-tier team to go professional since Fulham in the 2000s, although they had to revert a couple of years later.

Interesting things happening in the North East with Durham training full-time, Sunderland having a hybrid model, and Boro now affiliated with the main men's club...

Some of the players will be there before the film screenings. And those going get a chance to access the stadium through the players entrance at Ashton Gate, a walk into the changing rooms, come out the tunnel before heading off to watch the film

Thursday 17th August, as part of Bristol Film Festival.

I'm going as I love the film (even before I got into City/football)! Anyone else here plan on going?

Interesting it's been worded as a new contract as opposed to an extension - maybe it's better terms she has now. She was already under contract until 2024 but am glad she's committed to another year

As far as I can recall - Vicky Bruce, Brooke Aspin (she'll be 18 this summer so can sign professional deal), Maddi Wilde, Liv Clark

I notice that Vicky is still on holiday in America, did she not get kept on?

In my opinion Vicky Bruce is nowhere near good enough to play at WSL level.

Concerning that we are yet to strengthen the team at all, will make all last season's hard work almost pointless if we don't bring in at least 3 quality players to be able to compete in the WSL.

I suspect that there are lots of conversations going on with womens contracts still painfully short and with the season still some way off, there is no great rush.

Probably nothing in it but Abi Harrison and Ella Powell both liked this tweet.

Whether the likes mean anything or not, twitter tells me lots and lots of players are currently deciding their futures.

Club haven't announced anything (yet). But I am guessing she was given extended leave due to being from so far away. But if she isn't back yet when the rest of the team reported back for pre-season, then that is interesting

I did notice that on her birthday in May, the club didn't post on their social media wishing her a happy birthday ?

Much reported signing come true. Hopefully that's the only thing from this tweet by Emma Sanders that comes true!

Did see that Amy posted last night that she was indeed leaving London City Lionesses, which the club confirmed as her contract expired

Confirmed, At least we get one more year of Brooke. Nice statement from Brooke in the club article.
I looked at Chelsea's article and she's on a four year contract, which I don't think I've heard of in the women's game...

It also looks like they City women have gone on another break as many of them are on holiday

Not surprised that there back on holiday. WSL doesn't start to end September. They be knackered if the recent sessions were the start of pre season.

Not been confirmed yet but last year they were released on 12th July

I was wondering whether to start a new WSL season thread or keep this one growing?

Hopefully soonish then, new thread maybe once the fixtures are out or near to first game of season, looking at a season ticket but depends what the games clash with ..and if ticket is transferable..

I'd be tempted to continue this thread (and rename it nearer the time).

I hope fixtures come out soon - my guess is that they'll be after the group stages of the World Cup?
Women's Championship starts at the end of August and I don't think those fixtures have been announced either

USA won 2-0. Didn't see the game, but good to see Liv Clark start in goal.
Rachel Furness is with Northern Ireland squad currently who face Scotland tomorrow, so will face new teammate Amy Rodgers

I think this may be Anita Asante's position.

The only other staff change I'm aware of (as well as Grace Williams leaving as GM) is Dan Smith who is leaving as Head of Goalkeeping

The plot thickens

She spoke about Bristol City, didn't sound like she has left

We’ve had this one since 2018. Why change?

I see Lia Cataldo has joined Crystal Palace

Something of a return to home for Lia. It was clear that she had dropped down the order here and would have been kicking her heels a bit. Pity, as she is a quality player and I feel she will do well at Palace.

Fixtures are out. First game is at home against Leicester City on Sunday 1st October.
Doesn't say on the graphic but according to BBC Sport, it's not one of the games selected for BBC or Sky - so it'll be a standard 2pm KO (no longer 3pm as not at the RHPC)

First away game is a week later at Spurs

You're right Phantom, of course. I was also looking at the men's dates at the same time. Fourth Round it is at the Gate, then!   :fingerscrossed:

When you see those fixtures written down you really do see how much of a step up this season is going to be. They`re going to have to be on it every game.

My thoughts too, but if we could have picked an ideal first fixture what we got must have near to the top of the list

Is there any way of finding out where the Women will actually play their games ?

Even City will only play a few at the Gate, I was wondering where some of the bigger teams will play City. The Spurs game I think is at Orient, but there are a couple of games I'd be tempted to travel to.

All our league games are being played at Ashton Gate, it's the Conti Cup games that are likely to be at the HPC

Thanks .
That's a shame , I know Arsenal & Spurs play at the main Stadium sometimes, I'd hoped to get a game in.

I'd assume that they will be the "big" games against rivals?

Though when they played the same sides at their "usual" home grounds the attendances were no difference to the other home league games.

I guess it's all about individual marketing
