Hopefully Furney could be back for the next game against Arsenal on April 14th. Maybe score another wonder goal against them?

A welcome boost.

what a wonderful season of missed opportunity. 😡😡😡

They worked so hard to get promoted last season (always hard when it’s only one promotion spot available), and then playing WSL games at AG too.

We can see from the men’s side, SL is bored of it.

Just sell it / give it away and enjoy Le Mare Golf in Guernsey.  Put yourself and us fans out of our / your misery.

And the worst bit is the big clubs are only going to keep getting bigger and the gap is just going to get wider.

We'll reach a point where the elite women's teams are basically uncatchable just as they are in the men's game.

And we'll look at back at this period and wonder why we didn't go for it.

Standard stuff under this ownership, unfortunately.

West Ham v Brighton today, if the Hammers win it's definitely game over for us isn't it?

Finished 0-0, so there's now a seven point gap between 11th & 12th as City didn't play today.

City's next game is the one that was meant to take place today, away at Arsenal. This will be on April 14th, with no other WSL games that weekend

City U21 beat Blackburn U21 yesterday 5-0. Probably the most exciting fact was that one of the goalscorers was Rachel Furness! Hopefully this means she'll be match fit for Arsenal next Sunday

(Kudos to a fan page on Instagram who were able to confirm the scorers because the club didn't)

I replied to City's tweet asking why there's not a lot of info re. the U21 women on the website etc as it sounds like they're pretty good. Heard nothing back of course. Glad Rachel got a sneaky U21 game!

Final away game of the season at Chelsea selected for live broadcast on Sky, and pushed back to 6.45pm. it's Emma Hayes' last ever Chelsea home game so I expect that may be one reason why Sky have picked it...

More likely they're showing the top two with the chance one of them wins the league that day

Another TV fixture where I fear for our defence

Hopefully not as bad a result as 20/21 season!

If she has popped her shoulder it won't be useful for someone to wrap their arm around it!

I hope it's not the end of her season, though I did worry that was the case when she went off during the game.

It would seem that the deal is a continuation of the present one, and so I imagine that the coverage will be predicated almost entirely to the WSL - the Beeb show about 30 seconds of the Championship leaders at best. I am keen to know how much input the new authorities (New Co) are having in this, seeing as it taking over from the FA. I am also aware that the title sponsors, Barclays, have a current deal for the top two divisions until 2024-25 and am wondering if there is a 'rolling contract' option.

Sky are saying they are increasing to 44 live games next season

Some key points from today's press conference:
- Shania Hayles out of arm sling but not yet match ready
- Rachel Furness in squad contention after playing 45 mins with U21s last week
- Naomi Layzell & Carrie Jones back in training
- In-house 11v11 game took place, Lauren Smith was the ref

Lauren also said that long term contracts have been signed (including herself) so even if we go down we could retain a lot of the squad - in theory I suppose.

That is true! Although I think Shania Hayles contract is up this summer (she didn't sign a new one last summer), and Rachel Furness has a one year contract which ends this season

There are others who signed new one year deals last summer e.g. Jazz Bull, Jesse Woolley, but have an option for another year...

Saw some snippets from Arsenal's press conference this morning (which Sky covered, unsurprisingly)

Jonas Eidvall is serving a touchline ban this Sunday for leaving the technical area while celebrating during the Conti Cup final

Vivianne Miedema is unavailable for Sunday, so there'll be no repeat of her scoring six(?) against Bristol City at Meadow Park like she did a few years ago

Frida Maanum is also not available following her collapse at the Conti Cup Final & continued recovery

A pretty good watch/listen with Liv Clark in this episode of This Girl Can Play. She talks about how she combined uni & football, playing for Wales even though being from Lincoln, being at Bristol City, and even mentions Nigel Pearson & Dan Bentley...

Available on YouTube below or audio wherever you get podcasts from...

Sky Sports remembered that they are showing a game with City Women this weekend, so have released this today...

To be fair to Sky

They've been plugging the game a fair bit on SSN during the week

Obviously more interest today with Hayes and Eidevell having their pre match interviews

Layzell, Thestrup, Connolly? Can't see them wanting to play at a lower level, hope they don't leave obviously.

Layzell signed a two year deal last summer.  As did Thestrup. Can't find anything on how long Connolly's contract is for...

Also available in audio. Recorded this podcast last night with some Arsenal fans ahead of the game on Sunday. Mainly given things from a Bristol City perspective, plus talk about the work I do at the SC&T - including arranging away coach travel with the football club

Mary Earps has just pulled off an absolutely ridiculous save

Not only saved an effort from nowhere, but stopped the ball and clawed it away all in one movement

Not a massive follower of ladies football but I do watch it frequent enough and realise it has come a long way in a very short time and no doubt will keep growing with the right funding , have seen Mary earps a bit more than most and looked out for her due to her city connections , could your answer me this phants is she really that good and also as she is some type of pin up girl for the ladies game as she got a bit above her station ( billy big bxxxxxxs ) if you excuse the pun

I'd say it's a bit of both, she's certainly up there as the best in the world if not 'the' best

Along with a couple of the Lionesses she's definitely a recognised "name" in the wider game and single handedly no doubt put a few thousand on our attendance when we played United  and definitely not just a role model for United supporters but also the whole England game

Where she let's herself down, and did it frequently today is where she so audibly and visibly keeps shouting fxxk off repeatedly when she makes a save

I know what you mean about getting a bit Billy big ***, I think part of the problem is that she is one of a very small handful that are focused on, it was worse a few months ago where she seemed to be at a different awards night / film premiere / etc every couple of days

Fortunately she still comes across as a likeable character, whereas I'd bet a male equivalent would get more stick

Going forward, what will be interesting is how she manages the fact Hannah Hampton is fast approaching her as being as good, and was recently "rested" in place of Hampton for England recently against Northern Ireland

Napier returns from suspension. Stratigakis starts. Struck drops to bench. Layzell, Jones & Furness back in squad but make bench. Harrison missing from squad

KO 6.45pm. Live on Sky Sports. I'll try post updates while I'm here at Meadow Park

Not bad, I live in hope that Evans will do something. Good to see a stronger bench, hopefully Layzell, Jones & Furness all 100% fit.

Yes I did see at a few of them award ceremonies ( nearly every week ) don’t think she helped herself with some of the things she wore ( looked more of a sex object than ladies football player ) yes I did notice the new keeper wasn’t it Republic of Ireland though not N Ireland , yes will be interesting to see how she reacts when the decline comes ( it happens to all ) as she seems to revel in the high society life

I had a feeling I had the wrong Irish team 🤦

Interesting on Sky comms they mentioned Lauren can relax as she knows whatever happens this season she'll be in charge next season

I've got my headphones on and I can clearly hear one of their knobheads chanting 'what the Buckingham hell was that' in amongst the ra-ra public school like singing.

I'm trying to watch this, but it's proving impossible to enjoy. 3-0 34mins.

Respect to those people who follow the side every week, it must be a very difficult watch

Being on TV against Manchester City and Chelsea in the coming weeks the broadcasters clearly won't be getting a great game. Just one side trying to defend and the other scoring at will

And renditions of ‘Bristol get battered everywhere they go’

I didn’t think that was part of the women’s games mantra.

My school did trips to all the games back then

....

Sky just reported that Arsenal had 44 touches in our penalty area in the first half. That's a WSL record

They were proper school trips, back in the days when money and Sky TV didn’t control football 😂
