Wait; you're not a City fan?!

Amazing deception at work there, pal; hope MI6 are aware of your talents.

Now jog on back to league one, and enjoy a season fighting relegation.

Byeeeeeeeeee.

we'll see. bye

You'll see, we won't; we'll be concentrating on Championship football - you know; the thing you bunch of dirty, shameful cheats spectacularly failed to win with a bunch of loan players last season?

Enjoy your summer; pretty sure your season will be hell.

Better watch what you say, mind. You could well be dragged into a relegation fight yourselves. All that strengthening you've done this transfer window could help though- oh wait...

Hilarious.

What have I said that I should "watch", pray tell?

Relegation fight or not, we're in the Championship, while your ridiculous team got utterly embarrassed in the play off final, and then anyone with any talent from your squad left - those are facts, right there.

As for strengthening; we've still got the core of the team that blew you away at Ashton Gate and went on to win the title, AND have added a striker who won Ligue II's player of the season last term - you've flogged anyone of any real value, and added someone who played four games for Notts County on their way to relegation, and some lad who failed on loan to Doncaster when they dropped out of the Championship like a stone, so forgive me if I'm hardly jealous of your squad.

You punched above your weight last year, but I highly doubt you'll do that again.

Now, I suggest you get a summer job till you head back to school in September; Mr Power will probably need all the pennies you morons can throw his way next season in order to keep you afloat while you struggle against the drop.

Also what would the rent be? From afar looking in could UWE do anything but full market value? I'm not sure how I'd feel paying or having paid tuition fees to directly or indirectly subsidise a football club's rent? I could see the NUS all over that. There may be restrictions on how UWE are allowed to use their funding too that might stop less than market value.

When my son went to Huddersfield Uni, I had a sudden interest in rugby league as that uni sponsored Huddersfield and had their name on the shirts. I did wonder how much of my son's tuition fees were going to a professional sports club. I'm told the coaches would go to the uni and run PE sessions for the students. Warrington are currently sponsored by the University of Chester, so there are precedents for university's helping local professional sports clubs. That sponsorship money has to come from the university's own income.

Talking of Swindle, what ever happened to the rumour of Cooper going to be an assistant at Wed? Has that died a death?

I cannot quite see them reaching the giddy heights of a failed play off this season somehow. Maybe mid to upper mid table sounds about right.

I think that's the other side of the coin. In those instances the university is buying in services, in the hypothetical here UWE would be selling something, and then could they do that at an undervalue.

I suppose the parity would be in those instances if the payments from the university exceeded the value of the advertising received. Perhaps that's why part of the deal is the coaching.

But like you say, I'd be interested in where my money was going and how it was spent in those instances.

Trouble is, we may end up having to do the same ourselves.

I'm taking this with a massive pinch of salt, as I don't really see how the uni would benefit from a 15,000 stadium? A 1,500 multi usage stadium with an athletics track I could believe.

Well, they are cash rich, and in a competitive market, so this wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Not cash rich, no.

UWE have always had this 'Plan B' up their sleeves

This bit from the evil post is intriguing: "Even if the club was to win on appeal, they would only be awarded damages instead of the multinational being forced to buy the Memorial Stadium." If this is the case; then regardless of the UWE's position, the project is dead in the water as of now.

I was led to believe by someone itk that UWE were gifting the land to the sags in exchange for stadium naming rights in perpetuity. The money from the memorial stadium is needed to finance the build.

Plan B has been engaged...watch this space (probably for a couple of months yet, mind ;) )

I thought Plan B was move to Bath after Severnside went tits up, redevelopment of the Mem and playing in Cheltenham was Plan C, new stadium was Plan D.

A few more plans and they'll be able to spell DISASTER.

But if they do that they might be in for a battle with the nimbys because losing the car parking would mean supporters parking around the streets on match days, and wouldn't the houses also generate extra traffic?

I'm sure they would, but imo (no planning experience) I doubt their opposition would be enough to stop an urban development for housing.

Correct but, would the removal of the existing car park have a detrimental effect on the licence for use as a sports stadium? I use the term stadium loosely.

If it did then Rovers would hurriedly put out an appeal on the social media for someone with an appropriate license to help out on a casual basis.

Just seen this on Facebook (haven't seen it on here), I had to laugh! And they call us obsessed.....

Damn I can't upload the picture, but basically, on 11th December at the mem there's going to be an evening with...wait for it.....Dean Windass!

If I was an easily amused spaz-face, I'd be booking a ticket with a credit card, just incase the hosting company ceased trading and I wanted to claim my money back.

Perhaps we should book Colin Daniel?

The possibility of building flats on the existing car park to fund redevelopment would cause a two fold problem. It's usual practice to build flats with one parking space per flat, so space would be needed for the flats and their parking. This, combined with a bigger stand would reduce parking for football to almost zero.

I believe Rovers previous plans for redeveloping the ground included building flats for students, without parking. This would reduce the problem, but is there much of a need for more student accommodation at Horfield?

An evening with a journeyman ex Striker who never even had the misfortune to don the foetid quarters... Why?
