Lets remember that Chesham are not only in the Southern League Premier, but they are 17th in the Southern League Premier, having conceded 25 goals. Good job we didn't play Weymouth or another team at the top of the table.
Of course our team today were a disgrace, set up badly by Clarke. We started at walking pace and later progressed to a slow trot. Passing was poor except for Sinclair who managed at least 40 passes backwards. And he should have pulled Gosling off after 20 minutes, absolute disgrace. Harrison, again acting like a petulant child falling over at every opportunity. Thought that they would tire in the second half but they didn't because for all our huffing and puffing there was no quality. I expect Chesham will have harder games against teams in their own league than we gave them.
I have always been a big fan of DC but if he cannot improve the team or at least get them to win at home then I would say thanks Daryl but goodbye

Living on the dark side and a fair few (misguided) mates that are gas, I can't help but take the piss without mercy. That said, I do dislike them intensely but not as badly as they dislike us.

It's great to be a red in east Bristol tbh, loads of kids wearing our beloved red shirt and loads of old school gas twisted with jealousy!

All that said, I would rather see a young 'un in a gas shirt than a Man U / Arsenal one. Obviously, I would report the parent for mental cruelty but support a local side rather than a team on sky IMHO.

Jumpers for goalposts, white plastic garden chairs for seating, Santa's grotty grotto, you can take the club out of non-league but you can't take the non-league out of the club, Nick Higgs the lawyers' pension plan, horse-punching.

Big up the Rovers!

If you had to come up with a comedy version of a local rival then they would be pretty close to it.

The popcorn is on standby for their next jolly jape.

The only emotion I have for them is pure and utter dustain.

id love to be one of you chaps that just say I don't care about them, they're an irrelevance etc.

but I can't, I just ******* hate them , and not afraid to show it :P

I absolutely agree with you. However, I've endured plenty of league matches against Rovers including (I hate to say it) times where we have been beaten by them plus times that we have given them a good hiding (the Christmas game in 2000 being my favourite). With this comes a natural rivalry. I do wonder whether for the younger generations, it is possible without these experiences for the same passion to exist. The worry is, as funny as their demise has been, the longer it lasts the less people really will care about them.

I give it "Ten Minutes" or so until this thread is invaded.  I thought I didn't care until I realised just how amused I was when they dropped out of the basement last year.

I was having this discussion with a Sag mate on Facebook last night...he is always very quick to bite and didn't disappoint when I commiserating them on narrowly missing out on taking Chesham to a shock replay!  My last comment in the thread sums up how I feel about them nowadays...

Naturally a little bit of context is missing, but you get the gist I'm sure:

".......The original post was because despite the fact the Gash haven't been actual rivals for some fifteen or so years it still amuses me as much when they fail miserably as it does you when we fail. It just so happens that it hasn't occurred so much to us in comparison over the last two years. Are you telling me you'd keep your mouth shut if the shoe was on the other foot and city had lost at home to Chesham? Of course you wouldn't, and neither would I expect nor want you to. That's what the rivalry, such as it is, is about. As I was posting it I guessed you'd get the hump. It wasn't the point of me posting it. I'm a city fan with city mates who would share the humour, but I'll be bollocked if I'm gonna moderate my posting just so a few sensitive souls don't get upset! Do that, and the rivalry dies there and then. See ya tomorrow night! smile emoticon

It's a bit like marriage. You fall madly in love with someone, and commit yourself to them until death, and then after a few years they really annoy the **** out of you, but you still can't help but love them.

I think you can justifiably claim "unreasonable behaviour" over the last two years as grounds for divorce.

I'm kind of old school in the sense of being City.

Bristol R*vers, to be fair to them, have provided me with something money can't buy.

Long may real football exist!

My worry is that, at some stage, they will stop ******* everything up on a reasonably regular basis.

It seems to me that their current rate of approximately 2 or 3 disasters (either on or off the pitch) a month is probably unsustainable in the long run and is also now being taken for granted.

It's was only days between getting spanked at home by bottom of the League Newport before it was revealed their players come and support us in their spare time.....in the blink of an eye they're now getting beaten in the FA Cup by Chesham.

The 'Gift' may need to spread out their embarrassing failures over a slightly longer period of time otherwise I fear that Piggs, Dopey and the rest of the blue few will eventually run out of things to cock up.

Very true Peter. At the moment we are drowning in the sticky-sweet honey of their latest pratfalls and disasters.

They need to start spacing them out a bit so we're not expecting them all the time.  They can start by behaving like a normal professional football club for the next month so that we can have an element of surprise when Higgs' doomed stadium appeal goes belly-up.

No, Peter. I have every confidence in their ability to pull rabbits out of the hat and the ball out of the back of their net. The Gas is a gift that never loses its play value.

Are you hintin Nicholas blew it on an ostentatious car in an attempt to cover up his inadequacies ?

Two defeats, five wins and one draw in eight matches. It's not that bad really. There are however areas for improvement.

Goalkeeper Situation
I don't think Nicholls is a bad keeper, I don't think Chapman was a bad keeper, I also don't think Mildenhall, Puddy and Preston are bad keepers. There needs to however be some level of consistency. The Goalkeeper situation should have been solved in the summer, the goalkeeper (if a loan for a season) needed to be in during pre-season working with defenders and how the team plays. At times there is a clear lack of communication between the back four/five and the keeper. This needs working on. If we are to continue with Nicholls he needs help with his confidence. If we don't continue with him I'd like to see a permanent goalkeeper signed in January to stop this daft revolving door situation.

Centre Midfield
We don't have an out and out attacking central midfielder. It's very rare that we see midfielders strike the ball from outside the box, find through balls to strikers and create chances. The midfielders we have are all seemingly deep lying which, is fine when wingers are on form but the wingers can be in and out quite a lot. I'd like to see a midfielder who can chip in with goals and assists brought in (easy said than done).

Shooting
As alluded to with the midfield situation we need to bloody shoot. We have players with the ability to hit ones from 20+ yards but how many times in the last season and a half have we seen it from open play. Strikers currently seem to want to take 2/3 touches when one would suffice. We're not working on instinct and over thinking chances. Just do it, do it simple and get a shot away.

Plan 2*
We're very one dimensional at the moment, away from home it works due to opposition teams playing high lines and coming at us. I'd like to see Montano given a chance and potentially a new striker signed with something a bit different (the three currently being used have been OK but are quite similar in their play). Until January with Blissett seemingly done I'd like to see Lucas given minutes to see if he can make a difference.

 *Amended for clarity.

You're right.

Sack Clarke, don't appoint a new manager, spend the savings on strippers and coke.

Ran into a few sags yesterday, boy were they not happy bunnies, and after an exchange of banter shall we say, they started getting personal infering that I along with all sheeds were infact dicks. Now then ,I said, don't start getting all bitter and twisted, oops too late I added with a smug smile, this was met with the usual deafening silence. They really are as an angry collection of social misfits as you could ever have the misfortune to meet,I think they may of been bullied when they were younger.

A good job we were not playing Cardiff that Monday - City Superfan Ellis Harrison would have missed the party !

Was talking to some Rovers fans at work and they think Clark is gone if they lose on Saturday. Ridiculous!

They want either Mark Cooper or Paul Lambert

Agent Cooper sounds good to me...... he nearly completed his mission at Swindle but left them in a fine position......
