Was talking to some Rovers fans at work and they think Clark is gone if they lose on Saturday. Ridiculous!

They want either Mark Cooper or Paul Lambert

Then they're talking out of their backsides.  Sacked for what?  Getting them promoted and on the edge of the play offs?  Deluded idiots with ideas above their stations again.

They are still deluded it is just laughable!

Lambert is talking to Blackburn and QPR!

I still love the story about when they approached Martin O'Neill way back and he instead went to Wycombe, who were then non-league, saying they had 'more potential' - how we laffed!!!

It's just this idea that they are a huge club with a pull that makes me giggle. They are basically Exeter but worse, and that is how the rest of the football world looks on them.

Didn't listen to Radio Bristol, but I assume there were a couple of them looking towards the play offs after this massive win?

Yep.

Earlier this week, after two cup exits, they were going down due to their awful home form, and some were calling for Dopey's head.

Now of course, the play offs beckon !

Nothing else to do so I've got Radio Awful on. Do people actually pay to watch this sh!te ?

I was casually chatting to a youngish guy and an older lady in the café at Southmead Hospital the other day. The guy was on crutches and told us he'd fallen down some steps, at a family party, and badly damaged his knee. The lady jokingly suggested he should 'take more water with it'. His reply was classic. He told us he was unable to drink any alcohol at the moment because of the pain killers he was on. He also said... 'And to make matters worse, I'm a Rovers supporter. It's bad enough watching them when I've had a few, but now I have to watch them sober'.

So in answer to your question, yes people do pay to watch that sh!te, but some of them are more realistic about it. :)

Someone I met up with Saturday evening was telling me they would be going for automatic promotion now - they REALLY are deluded !

Could this be a fly in their ointment? I was sent this today....

Dear Friends

Bristol City Council have recognised the significance of the historic war memorial sports ground, by listing it as an Asset of Community Value. The ACV application was submitted by The Bishopston Society.  Further info at: http://www.bishopstonsociety.org.uk/news/our-news/754-bristol-city-council-accepts-nomination-of-memorial-stadium-as-an-asset-of-community-value-by-tbs

ACV status offers the local and wider Bristol community a stake in determining the future of the Memorial Ground. This is a sensible change of direction – recent experience has seen plans to plonk towering blocks of flats on the Memorial Ground, or replace it altogether with a huge supermarket with all the noise and air pollution that entails. All being well, there’ll be no more disrespectful talk of the war memorial as a problem brownfield site.

Another very welcome development is that Bristol’s Ceremony of Remembrance parade and service is to be held at the Memorial Ground next year. This event is not being held at the Cenotaph in November 2016, due to the remodelling of the centre for Metrobus. Congratulations to Bristol Rovers Football Club for hosting the high profile remembrance event, for which the Memorial Ground is a fitting venue. 2016 will be the hundredth anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, which did for so many of the sportsmen soldiers and volunteer intake.

After the Great War, Bristol’s immediate idea for the city’s first substantial war memorial was heartfelt, insightful and practical – long term good would come of bad. Healthy sport and remembrance have gone hand in hand ever since.

The long history of rugby and football clubs playing spectator sport at The Mem has created a distinct atmosphere to the area. The roar of the stadium crowd can be heard across Horfield and Bishopston, as far as St Andrews Park and Lockleaze. Elderly residents, whose parents contributed to the 1920s fundraising effort to pay for the facility, have spoken of how they take comfort in this ‘sound of Horfield’.

Furthermore, the President of Bristol Rugby Former Players, has stated that “The memorial is not only for those who wore the famous blue and white jersey, but for all rugby players who died for their country.” The Memorial Ground could be adopted as the national rugby war memorial? See this World Rugby Museum article: https://worldrugbymuseumblog.wordpress.com/2015/11/11/a-history-of-the-bristol-memorial-ground/

Meanwhile, the appeal (Sainsbury’s v Rovers) is due to be heard in London on about 26th or 27th January.

A few months ago the "kid in the riot" suggested that land at The Memorial Stadium was to be sold for building and that this would effectively "save the Rovers". Many of us wondered how such a plan could possibly work because any profit from the sale of a segment of land would only be sufficient to pay off MSP Capital and so the other debt and dereliction would remain.

But now new theories are surfacing which could explain what is to happen. It appears that the whole of the site may be sold thus allowing MSP Capital and Nicholas and his cohorts all to have their money repaid leaving a few millions (single figures) for Rovers to contribute a small share towards the cost of building a scaled down and "economy" version of a UWE Stadium which would effectively be owned by third parties.

To many Rovers supporters this is a nightmare scenario because their dream of a showpiece stadium, owned by the club, would be shattered and the landlord tenant situation would once again return. Even worse, in their eyes, Nicholas & Co would continue running the football club in their own inimitable style.

However, there is always a silver lining and so as promised the revised scheme would bring a significant boost to the economy of North Bristol and South Gloucestershire. Led by the increased prosperity of garden shed manufacturers and purveyors of rosettes and rattles,

So, they were given a stadium by Bristol FC's financial incompetence and they've managed to fritter it away and become tenants again.

To lose one stadium, Mr Higgs, may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose two looks like carelessness.

A friend of mine is the chairman of FC United of Manchester.  They have just moved into a brand new stadium that they built, own and paid for.  It is astonishing that a club can appear literally as a result of a chat in the pub and do this whilst the heroes of Horfield are doing the reverse (i.e. frittering away a stadium they (stole) owned.  If I was a gashead (Thank you Lord!), I would be ashamed when I contrasted my team with FCUM

Hadn't UWE applied for planning permission to turn the land into a car park?

They have submitted a plan for a temporary car park but its the part of the whole development that was going to be a car park and potential hotel. It does not impinge or have an effect on the actual stadium part of the development

Apparently, it may not be accepted. There's a problem with the location of the four coats :(

Also, there's apparently an issue with the proposed stadium seating. The club wanted the favoured 'patio seating' range but the planning officials want proper fixed seating due to previous problems at the Mem.....

The chairs of the Rovers fans ran round the stadium...

You obviously didn't read as far as my post two below that one which said The Clash ripped off an Elvis Presley album cover.

Hope it didn't take too long to search for the image to prove me wrong, sorry it was a waste of time!

As a fully paid user of Google it took no time at all so you needn't  worry about my time.

You're right though I didn't see your post, the Pennie Smith image is brilliant. Shame I can't find the interview where she says she didn't really like it as it was blurry ! Wonder if she feels the same now, with prints going for about £4k.

You know it's an iconic image when Micky Mouse copies it !!

That photo on the Clash album is just superb as you rightly say!

See that Chesham got beat at bottom of the table Paulton Rovers today. :)

When you play away at a good club you expect to be beaten. When you play away at a lesser club you expect to win.
