Does anybody know what state the Memorial ground stadium is in?

I've not been there but from clips of the games (by their entertaining blogger) it looks pretty old but I didn't know how bad it was; I remember the state of the Goldstone Ground away for a midweeker before Brighton moved ground; it was crumbling with huge sections roped off for safety reasons.

As The New Stadium has been the goal for a few years they will have done the absolute minimum maintenance so I was wondering how the stands are holding up.

I believe they're propped up with hired plastic chairs

The ironic thing about the Mem is that despite it's utter crapness most of it isn't actually that old. The side stands were built by the rugby club in the 80s and 90s and the archaic looking clubhouse end was built by the sags after they moved in.

More "Retro" then? As in "Retromingent"?

I'm sure the club house end was already there? However their fans had to raise the money for a roof for it.

Trying to post a link to the front page of the Bishopston Society website but 'upgraded' forum won't let me.

Does this further hamper the Mem/Supermarket plan?

I doubt that it would make any difference. All it means is if the site is going to be sold, the Bishopston Society (or any other local group) would have 6 weeks to make a bid  and 6 months to raise the money. It's unlikely that the Bishopston Society could raise the market value of the site, and even if they did, Rovers would just get the money from them instead of some other party.

Bit it might add another 6 month delay.

IF (and its a big if) they won the court case against Sainsburys to force them to pay the contractually agreed price, would Bishopston Society need to pay this level, or  the Lower present market value?

Nick: if we lose the appeal would you consider your position untenable and will you sell the club?

I don't think it would make much difference as even the lower value (for housing?) would still be a big sum for a local volunteer society with less than 200 members, and no history of raising big money. They might be able to convince a few extra people / organisations to commit, but would only have 6 weeks to put their bid together. A lot of organisations are good at talk, but when it comes to hard cash, the interests vanes.

Apparently 12 investors have approached him in the last 2 years...

"With our fan base and planning permission for a 22,000 seat stadium on the outskirts of the city, the club is potentially an attractive proposition for investors."

Clutching at straws there.

The club that hasn't had a five figure average home attendance for over 40 years. Massive potential.

That capacity keeps going up! 20000, 20700, 21000, 21700 now 22000. Not that it will ever be built anyway.

I expect you can hear the roar of the crowd from your place can`t you? It must be terrifying and the house must shake to it`s very foundations. I`m surprised you can get insurance.

Horace has very keen hearing and he claims to have heard a groan about 28 minutes ago. At least ten people, he reckons...

Did they lose then? I was expecting their obligatory penalty to save the day for them, again.

After an heroic struggle, the Wandering Minnows had to concede to the might of Stevenage by the odd goal in three. Hardly seems a fair contest, does it? :(

Listened to the last 20 minutes whilst in the car. Judging by the level of bias and downright slating of officials from the commentator, it seems that anyone setting foot in that ground becomes possessed by the blue fog of entitlement.
