Bristol R*vers dustbin thread

I have a good friend who is a Man City fan from Manchester who now lives in Spain. He congratulated me as he thought the team and the fans were an absolute breath of fresh air and a refreshing change from the same old same old trotted out by other visiting fans and teams. He was also unaware that there were still 2 Football League teams in Bristol as he thought the other lot were still Non-League. He was genuinely surprised when I told him that although we completely disregard them as rivals, they are hanging on to their League One status at the moment. Mind the ever growing massive Gap!

I like how they go on about 82 and how we should settle debts etc, but as far as I know, Rovers have never refunded bookies and gamblers after their keeper was found GUILTY of attempting the throw a match back in 1963.

Amazing to think that all he had to do was to let in more than they scored and he managed to **** that up!

Still managed to deliberately let in two though, generating a false result.

So, fewers - adjusted for inflation, you owe my old man millions for the acca you ruined. Where does he collect?

Beat them in the league cup too! Junior Bents last game

Yes - was thinking:

March 97 - League 2-1 (Agostino, Goater, Alsop for them, Agent Beadle missed pen)

Coca-Cola Cup Aug 97 2-1 (Taylor, Bent winner in ET, Alsop for them again) - attendance that night 5,872, pathetic from the Fewers.

Nov 97 League 2-1 (Double from The Goat, Tillson for them)

This is the kind of post that makes you wish those firebugs who tiptoed into Bath one evening in the 1990s had waited until their ground was full - mind you, obviously they’d’ve been waiting a long time.

Chelsea was as big as a game as they’ll ever have so bo wonder it sold out so quickly. How many season ticket holders missed out when you played Grimsby at Wembley, scum?

Our ground isn’t a library, dumps on the feeble queefing sounds those fannies at the Pisspoorial make from a great height.

Yes, It’s the biggest game at the Gate since...30th Dec, which sold out. And then 10 days before that - which also sold out. This was always going to sell out too - although apparently there’s a time limit set by Gasshole Waste of Skin on how long tickets can take to sell - ha!

As for fickle, obnoxious c***s - I suggest he look in any reflective surface. Gastards are genuinely nasty people. I wish them nothing but misery - both for their scummy excuse for a football team and in their personal lives.

Love your rant! But the Wolves game on Dec 30 didn’t sell out, it was still three times the average gas crowd though!

There is a big incentive to sell the Mem before April 2019 otherwise a new law could mean that an overseas / offshore based beneficial owner, such as Dwane Sports, would be liable for tax on the capital gain.

If the buyer of the Mem is sympathetic to Rovers it is possible they would provide a short term agreement allowing the team to continue playing at it's present home until a new (economy version) UWE Stadium is ready to be leased.

Wait till February and then register the Mem as an asset of community value, which will push them beyond that deadline!

What really galls Scum fans is not that we are doing so well after a couple of extremely trying seasons (although obviously that doesn't help) but all the positive attention we're receiving -- our style of play, the GIFs, our passionate support, the success of the Academy, our well-run club, our celebrity supporters, the whole shebang.

Back in the day there wasn't much to choose between the clubs but we've kicked on while they've floundered on and off the pitch. 1990, laid to rest, we won the title while they finished second - in the Conference. Their saviour - who was going to at least restore parity - has turned out to be an utter charlatan.

Previously the only straw they could clutch at was that they were somehow the cuddly toy of Westcountry football, whereas we were disliked by all and sundry. I remember some clown called "Centenary Gas" talking about how "not even Millwall" invaded the pitch to attack players, like somehow our fans were the worst on the planet. Bristol City were somehow the bete noir of the whole footballing world, we've got unlimited money to spend - a gaping hole blown through that theory when we come up against a club who really do fall into that category and hold our own.

They feel some desperate need to believe, "Well, they've left us in the dust but at least we are likable." It's a prejudice they've invested everything in, and it's all come crashing down around their ears.

I let that screed of squid ink and lies from that truly objectionable individual on the Man City forum get under my skin a bit last night, and in the cold light of day you can understand why they're so bitter. They've got nothing left, nothing.

I can’t like this post enough.  We are superior to them in every tangible way, so they invented an intangible delusion that they’re “more liked” than us.  The recent blaze of good quality PR has burst that particular illusion and as you said they’re left with absolutely nothing to hang on to.  Hence the childish tantrums and the dredging up ad nauseum of events of nearly 40 years ago.  I’d feel sorry for them if they weren’t such a dispicible rabble.

The opposite of love is not hate, its indifference and that’s what the footballing  world feels towards them.  Utter indifference.

Well the dog stroker is known  for chatting shit . But when he says the club is 30 years behind . Surely the blue few should take notice of this. Instead off trying to take the piss out of us losing in the last minute. To probably the best team in Europe. Maybe they should listen to the ***** they adore.

The gap really is massive now, its embarrassing how they still cling to us. Jealousy does bring the worst out in people,  perhaps that's the reason they're so bitter?

To compare us to each other is abit like a boob job gone terrible wrong.  The right side is big, firm and perky while the left side looks like it belongs to an 80 year old as its sagged so far down its wrapped itself around the knee.

Oh dear lord does their paranoia know no ends?

Their latest conspiracy is that SL is going to build the UWE for Bristol rugby and the BCFC ladies team.

You know what's coming next, they'll be saying 'why not go the whole hog and build the bloody thing twice the size, change all the blue panels for red ones and then it's ready for City when they hit the Prem'?

Spot on! I’ve said it before and I’m terribly happy to say it again....that mob up the road are like an annoying nerdy nephew - you spend all year trying to ignore them but when they turn up at Christmas you instantly realise why you spent the whole year trying to ignore them...they just crave attention and when they don’t get it they trawl through our opponents’ forums seeking attention and love....they even try to satisfy their discontent by telling each other that we only beat Man Utd reserves...Lukaku, Ibrahimovic, Martial, Rashford...etc etc...hardly reserves. Then we only narrowly lost to Man City’s reserves...Sane, De Bruyne, Aguero etc etc...

It’s just hilarious but also a little bit sad....and sad is definitely what they are feeling right now...their ‘billionaire owner’ has not delivered and we’ve charged off into the distance, widening the gap every week with an awesome stadium which includes one stand that could comfortably accommodate their entire average home crowd with space to spare....

They went quiet about our billionaire owner when they thought they had one too. Now that they are starting to realise their owner doesn't have the cash, they are starting to moan about SL again.

At least once they go into administration they'll stop boring on about '82!

I wish they’d stop boring on about SL being a ‘tax dodger’ because of his Channel Islands residency -  when oh when will they realise that Dwane Sports Ltd is registered in Jersey...?!

No they're not! That`s just a postal address. Their actual base is a council lock up down Muller Road. I know `cos Henbury Gas told me.

The family club would never stoop so low as to be owned by someone overseas. They`d rather go out of business than bow the knee to some foreign bullshitter with no money.

I bet they will still go on about it. 15ers are not the brightest people around, they will keep on and on about 1982 even if they go bust and they’ll justify it by saying that City deserved it by overspending whereas they didn’t deserve it because they had crappy owners.

I actually think SL having a stake in UWE would be a very good idea.

At present the U23 side use Failand, Twerton, Clevedon, Weston (or was that for an away fixture?)  Bristol Sport also has to accommodate any non first team rugby games, plus the Women's team (based at Stoke Gifford) are all dotted around.

If a small, say 5000 capacity stadium was built there I think it would prove useful as a home for these sort of sides.

I really wouldn't put it past big Steve to build an athletics stadium at UWE mind. Start a bristol sport club athletics team to add to the portfolio and use it for some football matches.

He'd love Olympic competitors to come out of the Bristol sport stable I'm sure.

I seriously wouldn't build a stable north of the river !!!

And not own the land ? I f there is one thing we've learned is SL will do the best for BCFC. There is absolutely no chance he would rent land when he can own it.

I seriously dont understand why they PERSIST with the fact that they have a better following than we do?

the evidence was clear like 10 pages (or more) back with the historic bar chart.

I said it before, if they claim they are barca with like 20 million people locked outside in the car park, moaning that they cannot get a new/better stadium and facilities, why not build one themselves?

WsM fans did it in the 1980's and no one turns up to watch WsM l.ol.

(can the wording on "l.ol" just be left as "l.ol"? The emoticon doesnt work and its been that way for flipping years now, either fix it or remove the automated word. Without the dot.)

Doesn't that pre suppose Wael & the gas are being truthful re UWE?

Bristol Sport already work in partnership with the likes of Glos cricket, I'm sure a mutually beneficial deal could be struck here.

Come on, admit it. What you mean is SL to buy the Mem, kick out the existing (and undesirable) tenants and move in the U23 side,  any non first team rugby games, plus the Women's team.

He has far to much respect for members of Bristol Sport, to make any of them frequent that shithole.

Yep, I guarantee they will be saying things like that.

UWE had already planned a 6,000 capacity stadium for students before the squatters in blue got involved.

I wonder if the sags problem is psychological? maybe they all need to sit down with a shrink for a while. "So Mr Henbury, how long have you been a pathological liar?" "Since 1883 doc, longer than those darn teds!"

He doesn't own all of the land the training facility is spread over. He has a 100 year lease from QEH.

If you had a 120 year lease over the land, well before that time is up the stadium would be knackered and need rebuilding. So what's the problem if you hand the keys over in 120 years? If the rent/commercials worked, I'm sure he'd have no problem in a long lease.

It is now down to certain circumstances for them now and then comparing it against us. How many they took to a specific game in a specific scenario. They are picking out the odd fixture and then multiplying it using Gas logic to cover an entire season, thus making them more faithful and true than the gurt Ted's.

They are all over social media again. Their relief that our 'bubble has burst' is off the scale. The thought of The Shit having a successful season has seen them almost taking a trip up the The Clifton Suspension Bridge to take a cordless bungee jump, but they are alive and kicking, almost balshy in their celebration of our perceived demise.

Just goes to show that their obsession had reached unprecedented levels.

Just had a quick glance at the league 1 table..they're only 4 points off safety, in the massive heady unprecedented heights of 17th in a league where Shrewsbury are 2nd..

I guess being 5th in the league, one win away from safety in January in one of the toughest leagues in Europe isn't so bad..
