A canvas roof is in fact a safety feature. Anyone of average height, jumping up or even standing up in Row G (ie the back row) is likely to smack their head on that roof.

It’s not a problem. With the way their season is going, none of the 15ers are going to be jumping up.

To be fair I Wonder if Steve had a whole host of major problems to overcome when planning the Lansdown Stand

A stand can’t be placed behind the terrace for the same reason as the family stand wasn’t able to as it would block access for people standing on the terrace therefore creating a health and safety risk, putting the stand on the terrace would only serve to lower capacity. The only conceivable way the away capacity can be improved is to extend the south stand all the way across the pitch and give the extra block to away fans. Even this may not be possible however as Wael said a year or two ago that the reason it hasn’t been extended is because their are cables, a screen and an advertising billboard in the way. Tom Gorring isn’t daft, he would have looked to increasing away capacity as a means of increasing revenue and the fact that as of yet nothing hasn’t been done suggests it isn’t possible.

Wael said staying at the Mem wasn't at all feasible - surprisingly it now is the only feasible option unless someone bails him out...

Should be called Walter Al Qadi after Walter Mitty

By that rational, is it safe to assume that literally nothing is “possible”..?

To be fair, though, some of their humour is quite amusing.

Further developments are planned for those on the breezey Blackthorn End and as soon as a sponsor is found they'll be making further additions.

Is that deckchair modelled on that awful Tesco bag kit they used to wear at Trumpton?

The worst thing is a quick google find at least two companies that supply temporary stands that at least don’t have a pillar every 6 foot. Perhaps the red seats put them off

Not sponsored by our council tax payers money this one. Bristol Energy can whistle for my business now ?

Meltdown pre game..

It's hard not to conclude that DC either doesn't give a sh** anymore or just flat out wants the sack. The constant selection of Nichols when we are already struggling for goals is perverse.

Also a Reilly and Nichols frontline shows that he is just throwing sh** against a wall and seeing what sticks. Why is he doing this on the 9th game of the season when he should know what sort of strike partnership works best by now?

If he wants the sack at this point I would be happy to give it to him quite frankly. Bore off with your awful players!

Wonder how many Sags bothered to attend.  Guessing at 8,500 less 500 Coventry minus 1,000 who paid but didn't go, so around 7,000 loyal and true blue few ?.  Could even be less.

Evil Post says 8385 less 1137 coventry = 7248 home.  A fair few may have stayed home in the dry today, so real attendance somewhere between 6k and 6.5k

Cov sold out their allocation I think so about 1100 from them? Probably around 6k fewers (it is raining after all and a lot will still have hangovers after celebrating Wigan`s win into the wee small hours)

“We are bigger and richer than you’ll ever be”

As soon as I scrolled down and saw Wael @ £400 million and inside that top 20 rich list on BP 'Live' rag site I closed it; And I previously found no notation as to how they calculated the wealth sum for each FL league club; no doubt just made up. Is it really just the BP 'Live' site we have for news now? Its largely fake or old news.

Otib is the news now with an honourable mention to the new bcfc.co.uk.

I hear the rumours of the UWE being on again have been going around up there.

Surely they wouldn't have splashed out on new stands if they were moving soon :noexp:

They will just fold it up and transport it to the new venue, one of those pop up gazebos afterall  isn’t it ?

Getting to look like a poor mans Eastville with every new additional stand. Soon they'll be planting flowers behind the goals and allowing dogs to run around the pitch.

Wait for it.

Not before Dopey manually manipulates them all off

Not a good publicity photo. You can't see the concourse, coffee shop, bars, food outlets, big screen and so on.

They must be there because we know they are up there with Spurs when it comes to stadium development.

So I didn’t dream it....they really said that ‘no club except Spurs has done more to improve their stadium than Roverzzz over this summer’???!!!!! I don’t think I have any more laughter in me....but that is certainly worth a guffaw or two!

A Gas ITKr reveals the complications regarding the original plans for a larger tent

‘ Originally the stand was meant to go along the full length of the flat area but the safety officer wasn't happy because although people serving in the pastie huts could get in to the huts there was little space left between the stand and hut for people to served safely. So stand had to be re-positioned over the open terrace. There was also meant to be a stand for away fans but they couldn't fit it into the area allocated ,so didn't bother with it in the end. Had to put a family stand in though because the S.T had already been sold. Basically a major cockup.’

:laughcont:

:laughcont:

Meanwhile ....

‘ For a cup match against a big team, the stand can be dismantled and the capacity increased to what it was, the same could apply for a big league game if season ticket holders are willing to move to the South or Southwest stands to accommodate it. All other times the lost standing capacity won't be needed as its hardly as if we sell out the mem every week, there's not really any problem to be honest.’

One 3-1 victory and they’re “coming for us” all over social media again ?

It’s simple: Gas beat Coventry 3-1. Coventry beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 in the FA Cup final. Spurs are the joint 3rd in the list of FA Cup winners - AND the Gas have improved their ground in the summer more than any other club including Spurs. Therefore they should definitely be playing in the Champions League.

And they’ve got the best fans.

Obviuos.

Well, if that's a "massif improvement", it doesn't say much about their so called stadium does it? it's shelter for the fans, so I realise it's a benefit off the pitch, but how will it be a benefit to the club ON the pitch as they claim?

That ‘stand’ is utterly hilarious, and unlike the other small tent up there, it’s in full view of the TV Cameras so everyone can point, laugh and see what their owners think of them. That structure is their ‘identity’ in a nutshell.

Still, 6th richest club in the country apparently ....that’s what their supporters were saying anyway.

I bet they wished they’d kept their mouths shut now :laughcont:

They never learn.

They often compare their attendances over the last couple of years with our attendances from the early 80s. The fact crowds were down all over the country at the time (including Eastville where they only averaged 5300 in the division ABOVE us) is never taken into consideration.

7248 home fans for a League 1 match is awful, especially for a club who’s fans constantly peddle the myth that they are super loyal and support their team in huge numbers no matter what happens.

If they’d been in our shoes in 1982 after 3 successive relegations, losing matches, staring financial ruin in the face with crowd numbers down across the country I doubt their attendances would’ve got much over 2000.
