Astonishing Lansdown meltdown / Playing the victims from user 'gulfofaden' on GasChat

Akin to terrorism mind!

Lansdown hasn’t just been a benefactor to city, which he is entitled to do, but he’s also been antagonistic to Rovers on any occasion he can to win favour with his fan base including the Matt Taylor saga which given the fact we got the exact release fee (which was supposed to be confidential) is akin to terrorism in football terms.

He’s also putting posters on the Glocs road, getting his sponsors to ridicule us through postal campaigns and trying very hard to get a club who for much of his life was a giant firm of bedminster hooligans who regularly smashed up our ground and attacked and threatened our players pegged as some “family club”. They have some normal fans of course but also a giant contingent on cocaine and cider addled specimens which dwarf, and have always dwarfed, ours, even pro rata.

You think he couldn’t see all that victimisation and violence in the 80s and 90s? Was he blind? Of course he wasn’t my. That’s fine, he can still bankroll the club but to do so, and still pander to those guys and continually harrass and target us knowing full well the asymmetric history between us, is beneath contempt.

It wasn’t 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. It was grown men targeting families and players in their own homes.

If he had adopted the attitude of “City is my club,
Good luck to Rovers but I hope we are always above them” then I would have all the time in the world for him.

He didn’t, he, like a playground bully, has been sadistic and provocative in swinging his weight around, to a club he knows can’t really fight back.

And the reason for this? The heinous crime which caused this ire?

We used to beat them a lot, before. When we were in dire straights and on paper we shouldn’t have.

That’s it. That’s what all this is about.

Every bit of that is fiction, absolutely no truth or proof of any of it. Just a total fabricated rant by a supporter of a team that couldn't win a raffle.

I like the "cocaine and cider addled specimens" bit.

Obviously has had too little medication as the paranoia is really creeping in, and all because we didn't like it being beaten by their little team. How many years ago was that then?

To be fair the replies to this guy's rant is almost unanimously one of ridicule to their fellow gas head.

Always a good idea to have a balanced view, on everything. Oh yeah, it's been shut in the UK for a while now!!!

Yeah but no but.

Whenever browsing another forum the only posts that register are the 5% / 10% of loonie extremist posts.

The vast majority of posts, usually reasonable and disagreeing with the nutter, simply fade into the background like ambient noise.

Typical Sag. Projecting everything that is wrong with their fan base onto us.

Does he forget their little video of the chap running over the Suspension Bridge, past Ashton Gate to get to the sister he impregnated in hospital to present her with a ‘Tesco Carrier Bag’ styled baby grow for their offspring before it has a chance to choose a proper club to support other than those desperate and deluded pikey squatters?

In football it’s called Banter. It’s something that historically they were always quick to dish out, but could never take themselves. Instead, when the banter comes back they resort to playing the victim and attempt to take some moral high ground.

You can see the green-eyed Sag monster as soon as he starts off, but ask him if he is a jealous Sag and he’s guaranteed to say ‘no’ and then blurt on about how he is only interested in his loyal, faithful and true family club before attacking the opposition players in the goal net because their team has been awarded a penalty.

Absolute deluded weapon.

Thanks for confirming what we already know about the average Sag supporter and the reason why this thread continues to prosper.

The gift ?

Can’t imagine they will get too many incriminating confirmations.

I’ve got an image of them hearing this info and screaming ‘confirm, confirm, confirm’ whilst frothing at the mouth like some mutant rabid saggy dalek. Sure there is a Chris Morris sketch in there somewhere.

What planning is he on about? Is this something to do with the fruit market stadium opening in a couple of months?

Their new training ground, The Craters, or whatever it's called. The one where they forgot to include enough space for players and no offices so they have had to revise the planning application.

Isn't that the green where the locals walk their dogs to improve the place.

Perving into a bedroom? What sort of buck toothed demented hick are they breeding over there?

A club member urinating against a wall? How nice.

The family club at it again then.

This must be the Championship-ready sprinklers of which we have heard so much.

Tbh I thought they were referring to an automatic watering system for the pitch rather than to the club staff.

Apparently Stendel has a very strong regional accent and the translator didn't understand all what he was saying so the judge got worried his answers where not being translated correctly, also problems with the sound on the zoom,

Rovers fans always patting themselves on the back. We’re brilliant we’re superior to the shitheads were the family club. Then they are all tripping over themselves to back a person who has a lot of previous when it comes to assaulting people. They are such a desperate little club with a little fan base . Bristol Rovers and Joey Barton are made for each other. **** um

Excellent news, means this will drag on a bit longer causing more uncertainty for the massive club, hopefully distracting on field matters

Yep a mid season trial for their manager could be fun!

It has the potential to de-rail a good season or plunge a bad season into utter disarray (again). Is the "genius" that took over on a temporary bassis during the season just gone still there? - i seem to recall his record was crap for the 2 or 3 games he was in charge. More of that would do very nicely.

You have to assume Stendel believe he has a good case, otherwise he’d drop the charges.

He is willing to come to the UK to see to it that Joey gets his justice.

From what I have read that is absolutely right. The testimony of that Barnsley youth coach probably makes it a slam dunk. This is just delaying the inevitable, I think.

Nah, I was there for a glorious 1-3 at Trumpton in the cup in late 1991 - but it was totally overshadowed by the sags winning 2-4 in the return leg with Mehew playing a significant role - gutted - we went out on away goals - way before the shenanigans of the Seal/Agostino era ...

I saw Devon White in the JCR at Longwell Green the following day after the away goals loss.
“You were bloody lucky last night” I said to him.
His reply “Well, who’s playing Forest next round”.
Ooh, you sly bugger!

Talk about iconic City defeats usually brings up Wolves, Cardiff, Ipswich, Hull, but for me that 2nd leg was up there with the very worst experiences.

Fortunately, as far as Mehew is concerned I have an alternative memory. I was at a quiz night at Eastville and Mehew was in a Rovers players team, asked who won the European Chamionships in 1960, he answered Brazil!

It's amazing that there's even a chance he won't do jail time if found guilty looking at his record, a suspended sentence and a prison sentence already for similar offences.

I do agree with him on December 2006 on that list though.

Even as a neutral you would question just how many more chances is he going to get.

Hes been given chance after chance after chance and he's still a thug. It's not a first offence and he has had previous jail time, in my eyes there is a real chance that if found guilty he's going to be jailed and it won't be a suspended sentence.

I think we stuck 4 past them at Trumpton in the Glos Cup in the summer of 1990, just after THAT match.
