Wanderingred
The blue few were unbearable after that game. The narrative was very much about how their good natured family friendly fanbase were celebrating a heroic late goal, only to be viciously attacked by 20,000 bloodthirsty Neanderthal teds who went straight for women and children. Hollowhead was in on the act as well. It was nauseating. Later that season, we went to the cabbage patch for the first time and turned them over 2-1, with not a hint of trouble that night. That was one of the most satisfying derby victories I can ever remember.

The Constant Rabbit
ย 7 from 10 (realistically 9) - The gas have the worst GD (bar Tranmere, who seem to have hit the wall) 6 points and some kind results (Exeter play Port Vale and Northampton, Port Vale play Newport and Exeter, Mansfield play Salford and Forest Green!!) - and it's autos. 4 points mean 100% play-offs 3 points mean Swindon and Sutton can go past them. It is however completely in their own hands. A loss at Rochdale would not surprise - Dale have only lost 1 out of the last 16 home games. Then already relegated Scunthorpe await at home........perhaps Sir Colin should be calling their kit-man and tell them to leave their strips at home and borrow Rovers away clobber..... ย Tell you what Rovers v Swindon will be proper old-skool in the play-offs. All days off cancelled for Wiltshire, A+S and Sth Wales constabularies I'd reckon - potential for huge problems. ย But looking at the fixtures Port Vale, Mansfield and Northampton have, the auto's are still a silly chance.ย All comes down to Rovers winning both, and Northampton v Barrow (who are safe from the drop) ย What an end to the season. Rovers fans canโt wait to have a go at Tedโs and then play the innocent victim when in reality they are equally as bad and on numerous occasions the instigators of trouble. You seemed to be totally missing my point and then proving it all in the same post! FGR invaded the pitch and a few of them goaded Rovers fans who then in turn ran onto the pitch, the FGR fans who did the goading were pricks as were the Rovers fans who responded. The Rovers fans who goaded the City fans after Beadles equaliser were pricks, as were the City fans who responded. There are obviously differing degrees of severity in those two cases - and I was at both games so am fully aware of how the events panned out- but my point is, some Rovers fans are *******, so are some City fans. Some FGR fans are ******* etc etc etc. The vilification of any one particular club over such incidents is unnecessary and unhelpful. I'm 57 and was brought up on a council estate in east Bristol, pretty much every football fan of my ageย and background has been involved to some degree or at least known of contemporaries or were- or even still are. There is no defending it, People can try andย talk about the camaraderie etc and I really do get that. But whichever way you look at it, it's piss poor behaviour. Sometimes it's downright vicious and appalling - like the evets in the Eastend that day- and sometimes it's trivial and more cringeworthy like the events of last Saturday. Rovers are no better or worse than City, or any other club. FWIW, when I saw the FGR fans running on I thought 'fair enough', then when I saw the gesturing form some (not many) I just thought 'Inadequate *****', which pretty much summed up my thoughts about the Rovers fans who responded. People get very brave in a crowd, we have all seen fans goading each other from behind the safety of fences or police, many will see it as just banter and a bit of fun, I find it a bit cringeworthy - especially from middle aged blokes- but we are all different I guess. 2

Nothing like capitalising on the misfortune that fell upon us. And this is NOTHING like it! (Back to you!)

I used to take it far too seriously back then and I was fighting back the tears at the end. Weirdly enough the journey home was one of the funniest ever, and we were only talking about it last week- but it is a VERY long story, so you'll have to wait until we are playing you again and I'll tell you over a pre match pint

Gert Mare
1 hour ago, Miah Dennehy said: You seemed to be totally missing my point and then proving it all in the same post! Fair enough. I agree, every club has its fair share of idiots...... I'm from a council estate in East Bristol too (probably the same one as you), but the Gasheads I know there always try and take the moral high ground and it boils my piss. Like you, I cringe at the pathetic boneheads. If people can't take banter for what it is then perhaps they'd be better off taking up boxing instead!

It's nice to know, that no matter how low we sink, we still irk you to some degree FWIW, I'm pretty relaxed about it all, I think we will make the play offs , but I have a horrible feeling we will get turned over by Northampton who Barton was VERY uncomplimentary about when we beat them recently. We are a good side though, and if we do make the play offs, I would imagine most other teams would want to avoid us. It's so tight, but Rovers are incredibly spawny (up until 2014 of course ) and they could just sneak into the automatic places. Most Gasheads I know are looking forward to getting Swindon in the final at Wembley as they think it will be a real day for 'the boys' to come out and can't wait for it to 'go off big-time' on the M4.ย

richyy66
Think they will finish 3rd. They are the form team so would expect them to win their last two. Still if not its the play off's and will be my Rovers obsessed Gas Head brother-in-laws second match he has attended in 20 years since i have known him.ย ย The other one was the other Wembley Play Off.
SecretSam
If the Slags do get Northampton, I'd be tempted to toddle up to Sixfields and watch. Cheering for the Cobblers, naturally.

On second thoughts, Sixfields is a ยฃ4.50 dump of a stadium*, and Northampton is the very epitome of a "drive past" town, so maybe I'll save my money. ย *But still nicer than the Slag's Estadio Go Outdoors

Sounds about right, I know plenty that are "die hard Gas" but never go, they seem to be rolling their sleeves up a bit more now tho to show off their Adam Ant pirate tattoo, mate of mine has been to 3 home games this season and was moaning last week as he couldn't get a ticket for FGR due to all the partimers being out
