One of my lowest points ever watching Rovers. I used to take it far too seriously back then and I was fighting back the tears at the end. Weirdly enough the journey home was one of the funniest ever, and we were only talking about it last week- but it is a VERY long story, so you'll have to wait until we are playing you again and I'll tell you over a pre match pint :)

Blimey Miah, some if us are getting on a bit and can't wait that long!

It's so tight, but Rovers are incredibly spawny (up until 2014 of course ;)) and they could just sneak into the automatic places.

Most Gasheads I know are looking forward to getting Swindon in the final at Wembley as they think it will be a real day for 'the boys' to come out and can't wait for it to 'go off big-time' on the M4. ?

Nice quiet pint in the lamb then if that happens. ?

CSE Grade 3 I'll have you know!

I'll give some basic arithmetic a go though. If the year is 2022, City have been around for 40 years, is that right?

That’s excellent. Now let’s stretch your abilities a bit and not use multiples of ten. For instance, if the year is 2022, how many consecutive years have Rovers been a league club? ?

What they mean by that Gert is they expect the engine of their Y-reg Escort to give out on the M4 and they can then regale their mates in Fishponds about how they were part of the "100,000 locked out".

or run out of petrol at chippenham swearing blind they got to wembley and back on a tenner last time

Regardless, we've played our home games in Bristol every one of our years.

Which reminds me, I need to pop to Tesco

If the Slags do get Northampton, I'd be tempted to toddle up to Sixfields and watch.

Cheering for the Cobblers, naturally.

You'll have no chance of getting a ticket, Northampton will have to give Rovers three stands minimum to cater for their massive travelling support.

Because they’re obsessed. “What’s the Bristol City score? What’s the Bristol City score? Literally every minute” - quote from neutral Aston Villa ground hoppers.

they used to put it up the on "electronic" scoreboard when we conceded ...expect they still do if they got one

I was working a late shift at Bookers in Emerson Green, and I refused to listen or know the score as they were obviously  "through". But as the shift wore on it was noticeable that the there was no noise from the warehouse floor (unlike the first leg). I thought it was strange, but clocked out slightly early so that I wouldn't be stood in the queue with the few "jubilant" Fewers. Imagine my shock, awe and delight when I got home to find they'd royally ****** it up !

In recent times they only go up if we do, so it might be a good omen for it to be the season when they were coming for us, but didn’t.

The best one was when they had the open top bus tour for finishing 2nd in Non League football (Barnet - who were Champions didn’t have one at all by the way), but Rovers had to have one because City had one and hired a red bus for the occasion. ?

Perhaps we should have one for avoiding relegation as we wouldn’t want to be left out either…..we’d be guaranteed a better turn out than the Sags though who would probably make up some excuse like the cricket was on.

If they do make the playoffs their opposition could well be Swindon & Mansfield (and if either of those beat them it would be hilarious) or they could lose to Sutton who were non-league last season.

Hardly the Champions League semi finals is it?

the prelude to that should be a rovers win tomorrow with northampton, port vale and mansfield all losing. Box seat Gas needing a win from their last game to guarantee promotion. Then they're winning by a single goal going into the last minute of added time in their final game, with the northampton, port vale and mansfield scores in their favour for good measure. And then ...

Northampton, in the play offs?  What could possibly go wrong?

I was chatting to a mate recently & he said after his playing career John Gayle moved to Bristol & he actually played 5 a side with him.

He said they expected him to be far too good for them as an ex pro but in truth he was ******* awful & couldn’t control the ball to save his life.

Did pretty well that night, though.

Where is @Shaun Taylor - is he still celebrating the midweek win over the veggie munchers?  I hear that FGR threw everything at goal in the 2nd half, so a good result.    A fair number of teams still in the mix at the moment - so many possible scenarios, it certainly keeps things interesting.

I'm still around? We have to win today to take It to the last game at Wallsall next Saturday and hope that other results go for us. We're looking at a near sell out today around 13,000 with  less than 200 Barrow fans.

Have your club resorted to continually reducing the capacity of the venue until they can claim a "sell-out"?

Who was it on here who put their hard earned cash on those ***** to go automatically? Show yourselves ??

I put £100 on at 5/2 for them to get promoted (not auto) to make the pain a little easier. I do not want to pick up the £350 believe me, this is one bet I definitely want to lose

They did, and held Joey aloft on their shoulders. All brown nosing the Messiah. They’re coming for us again now. 30 minutes ago they were ******* bottle jobs. ?

Typical. We win 5-0 and that’s just completely ruined the day for me.

Me too. They are like an annoying wasp that needs a size 10 on it. Northampton will beat Barrow, so let's hope they **** up the playoffs, and this Anderson kid tears his hamstring next game. He's the only reason they are where they are.

At least if they do go up we can enjoy them getting spanked on a regular basis by all the proper teams in League 1.

I guess for them, domestic violence is ok if it gets them a fourth division promotion…

Both playing on Monday. Salford v Mansfield, Port Vale v Newport.

Unfortunately, both are away at title chasing teams on the final day. ? Our best hope lies with Northampton. All they need to do is beat Barrow and that’s that.

A nasty thing to wish on a decent young player with genuine prospects..

Pathetic comment ..

Same as Tammy's goals kept you up - most teams outside of the Premiership benefit from loan players at some point.

Why on earth would somebody wish that on a youngster who's just starting his career - for me, that's crossed the line.

The vast vast majority of us would entirely agree. Surprised you are not all needing medical attention from going from might be missing out on the play off to a decent shot at auto in the space of ten minutes. Football eh.

I think I speak for us all, in that we would accept him being sent off and being banned for the play offs.

Now where have we seen this before? Celebrating a week before the season has ended?

I swear last week the same bunch of to$$ers were moaning like hell about FGR fans celebrating on the potato field because they got promoted?

Lifting your manager onto your shoulders in celebration of winning one game of football against Rochdale, to take you to the dizzy heights of 72nd in the football league, in a division that Nailsworth have just been promoted out of…

…..might just be the very definition of tinpot.

I mean if a gas fan cannot get a buzz out of a game like today then they need to get another hobby. You would think however that a manager (and with their history...) would wait until the last match of the season is finished.

A very interesting post.

When you have sobered up, you might care to reflect on what you are wishing on a young player and retract your comments.

Interestingly, several posters on this forum have suggested he would be a useful loan signing for us next season.

That would be embarrassing, wouldn’t it?

Oh dear…. How utterly tin pot. I’m almost embarrassed for them. I honestly can’t think of another fanbase in English football that are thick enough to celebrate like they’ve won the league when there’s still everything to play for. It’s not even in their own hands ffs!

No team talk required for Northampton, Port Vale or Mansfield’s players next week. Just show them this.
