Well done to them for engaging their fanbase early on in this process. Naturally it is easy to engage a fanbase when it consists of a few hundred people, all of whom belong to a single family. But, to those few lost souls the badge is no doubt a potent symbol. It's right and proper that a club, no matter how small, should undertake this process properly.

My gas mate who used to post on here (redneetot) was at that game

He always says to me that

Spurs 9th goal scored by Hoddle was a good 2 yards off side and should not have counted and it totally changed the game

He said he felt they were still in it until that point!!!

Presumably on the basis that 8-0 is always a dangerous score line!!

Who celebrates 140 as a landmark date? A club that doesn't think it will make it 150?

Cynic.

I'll have you know the material associated with ones 140th anniversary is Unplasticised  Polyvinyl Chloride (uPVC.)

Our North Bristolian brethren have a long and intimate association with that material, some might argue to the point of fetishistic obsession. If that isn't worth celebrating, what is?

Looks like the Fewers are having a vote on if they should change their badge.

Hopefully, when they come up with various designs there will be a vote which we can collectively manipulate to ensure they get the worst of them.

I think the middle add board sums the place up perfectly.

I'm going to miss that crest. It is, like the Rovers kit and ground, one of the worst in the league. To align their brand with their current values, though, they could use an image of an aging saddo checking for City's score on his mobile. Like the photo our friend Miah uses (no offence).

They unique I'll have you know.

(Uniquely shit)

Again...?!

I mean, surely that's the only wat that their current effort got the go ahead...?

Surely they wouldn't have thought that a camp rapist & thief depicted on their club badge would be a good image - without us gert 'Ted's sobitaging the vote to get it put there..?!

Why do they even need a change?

I think their badge is their identity

A camp pirate on a really cheap blue and white circle; tacky, cheap, outdated.

The pirate being someone of, generally low intelligence & ill repute stealing other people's property.

Pretty much sums them up nicely.

"piracy" is an act or robbery or criminal violence.

Makes alot of sense in explaining their past and their current managerial appointment.

Interestingly, pirates lives by some rather obscure rules & codes - including a strict 8pm bedtime..!

I'm not sure this statement meets equality regulation, you seem to have made a generalisation that does not include all protected characteristics! Can I suggest you remove any gender specific reference?

Being a manager of a football club (allegedly) should show and be a good example to the rest and not to incite hatred such as putting the **** off sign but then again what do you expect from a brainless moron that has behaved and acted violently through out his career.

You have a picture of said sign, as I couldn't see that,

These people are still human and being a manager doesn't stop you from going to other matches,

Despite was sort of prat he is, or are you saying that a manager or a coach are only able to watch their own club?

I didn’t say that if you read carefully but nevertheless anyone can support or watch as many clubs as they like.

The pictures of said sign is well documented.

I take it you are not familiar with the recent history of fan violence in France? Marseilles fans have been notorious for a long time in any event.

So. Ashton vs Rovers tonight. What do we want? Mass brawl and points deduction for both teams?

Rovers to lose handsomely against  eight men, then Ashton to fall over and graze his knee quite painfully whilst running down the touchline towards his legions of adoring fans.

I went on their web site looking for an announcement on world events and just found this instead:-

Club Re-Brand Consultation

7282 views

As Bristol Rovers approaches its 140th anniversary, it provides the perfect opportunity for a period of reflection as we celebrate our history but also look to the future.

Over the past few years, we have attempted to make improvements across all areas of the club to modernise, professionalise and, ultimately, drive the club forward.

freshersfair.thumb.jpg.401651a606f3b33f8609fcd99e316c5f.jpg

The current crest is also celebrating its own milestone, as it has been in use for 25 years.

Lots has changed over that 25-year period, not only for the club, but also in wider society and now feels like the right time to work with you - the supporters - to review this and see if we can make any improvements or changes to better represent the club.

We would, therefore, like to start a consultation process to gain some initial feedback on the current badge and gather possible new ideas as to how we represent ourselves as a club moving forward.

As part of this process, we are very shortly going to be getting in touch with fans to invite you to take part in a survey and share your views. Once we have collated initial opinions, we may then create a small focus group to discuss ideas and concepts further.

Working together, we can redefine what the future of our club looks like.

This is brilliant work. Congratulations. I am now the crazy English man sitting on his own in a cafe drinking beer and laughing hysterically to himself. So thanks for that.

Controversial late winner for Ipswich. Ashton runs up the touch line celebrating, Joey bag knocks him out.

From the horse's mouth, so to speak.

Forget balloon festivals and the like, it is the cold, wet and a possible long walk that deters our Rovers friends, especially the teenagers, from filling out their ground.

Firstbus are looking to remove non essential bus services, which could impact on travel times to the Mem and additional costs for users.

I cannot guestimate the number of people who either will be unable or unwilling to take much longer and expensive journeys to get to watch Rovers, but if it is cold and wet and the only other option is by foot, or taxi, it may put off a lot of teenagers, who we need to grow the support of the club.

Poor teenagers.

When I was a teenager, I wellremember walking to Ashton Gate on Saturdays after school, rain or shine, down Jacobs Wells Hill, along Hotwells Road etc.

I can remember walking the length of the Portway on New Years Day to watch City v Swindon (82/83 ish..?)

Mind you, if Roverzzz were playing in the street outside, I'd draw the curtains.

So when they said before that "if they play in the streets we will watch from the pavements"', they forgot to add, "as long as it's outside my house" ? :)

What is the record defeat in L1.  Ipswich taking that record against the Sags would do nicely.  It would be even better if Mark Ashton took the piss, Joey gave him a slap and found himself being charged with GBH.

I seem to remember Man City beating Huddersfield 10-1 in whatever League 1 was called at the time many years ago so 10-0 would do tonight.

Was going to mention that.

“If they play on the street we’ll watch them from the pavement…..unless”

1) There’s no comfy seats to sit on

2) Champions League on the telly

3) Bike ride somewhere in the Westcountry.

4) Tokyo World

5) Snow

6) Heavy rain

7) rain

8 drizzle

9) any clouds

10) Hot weather

11) Card only payments

12) no pornography at half time

13) ‘shitheads’ waiting outside

14) big Coronation Street storyline

15) full price tickets

16) cut price tickets

etc.
