I know what you lot are like.

You're not just looking forward to the Rotherham game and the England game are you ?

You're manically straining at the leash because you simply can't wait to see pictures of the big screen and the hordes of Gasheads crammed into the Thatchers end on Saturday night.

Well here's a sneak preview

???

Have you not noticed the fans in Qatar standing on a crumbling terrace under a rusting roof catching hypothermia? ? It’s the real deal I tell ya!

If only they were able to call on the services of someone with experience of erecting temporary structures who could provide some sort of tent or marquee which would protect the faithful from the elements during the screening.

I`ve no idea who you could contact in such a scenario though. - it`s not something that`s widely used at football grounds.

Unfortunately, the "rep" still attracts racists and arseholes from across the UK*, so, yeah, some of the biggest ******* I ever met when I lived in London were 'Wall fans.

* Take Sidcup-born, Middlesbrough brought up, Wiltshire-domiciled media columnist and wife-beater Rod Liddle. Where else other than a Millwall online forum would you be able to get away with "jokes" about Auschwitz and calls for black people to be "repatriated".

Liddle posted that?   I knew he was a ***t, but not one of such magnitude?

Yep. At first claimed his computer had been hacked, but presented by evidence to the contrary said it was "banter" that was "taken out of context" but he "didn't regret it".

Agreed, it's actually something that they're doing that they can't be knocked for really. If enough people stay you get the atmosphere, extra revenue (from selling out of date crisps), and the chance to watch it with your mates.

It's actually a very good idea

You do realise that the purpose of this thread is to take the p!ss?

Yeah, but every once in a while they're bound to do something positive at some point. I mean you can't be a bunch of fucktards 24/7 52 weeks a year can you? Even an idiot has something decent to say once in a while.

It's fine though don't worry, within another 24 hours they'll probably revert back to type when the screen doesn't turn up and/or work, so all will be forgotten ?

39th anniversary of the 2-1 FA Cup win at Eastville today, goals by Ritchie & Hirst, but if you were there of course you knew that.

Great day.

Bloody hell, 39 years..!!

The persistence of Riley to set up Hirst for the winner...what a moment. Magic.

Terry Cooper coming off the bench , and changed the game

One of my favourite days ever

I was just about to say this. Hirst was at uni at the time. "One nil down, two one up, we knocked Rovers out the cup ..."

PS I was coming on the thread to see if there was a stream knocking about for the Port Vale game. Could do with a laugh.

Personally I think that’s pretty good for them , xxxxxx. Freezing and I wouldn’t have thought many port vale would come down to the footballing Mecca of the country .

Not so good when you consider the magnetic draw of the England game on a ‘jumbo’ screen in front of a terrace to give you that “just like being in Qatar” experience later on. Would have thought the saggies would be out in their billions for that.

They have lost once in their last 10 league games & today was a decent result.

Their “crowds” are ******* pathetic though in that context, as they were home anyone interested could easily be back in their house by the time England kicked off.

Sounds like another one of their scams to me, get the gullible ******** to stay on after Port Vale, flog off any remaining food & booze to them but not bother to get a functioning TV screen.

Cheapskates.

It's free though if you've been to the game beforehand.

That's a nice gesture and if enough stay on there will be a decent atmosphere.

Yep, bet it was rocking when the screen packed up.

I see they've upgraded their fabled Santa's Grotto this year, no expense spared as you can see

Image

reminds me of that fiasco at ringwood years ago where they advertised a winter wonderland with reindeer, turned out to be some chicken huts with dogs wandering round with antlers strapped to their heads

edit. just found this, sounds like real reindeer but read it,sounds  so familiar in every possible way.

Upon opening on 28 November 2008,[1] the park received a great deal of infamy in the United Kingdom due to the extremely poor quality of its attractions; the nativity scene was a crudely painted billboard that could be seen across a muddy field, the 'magical tunnel of light' was a line of trees with fairy lights dangling from them, the ice rink had melted due to a faulty generator, the 'log cabins' were empty garden sheds, the Christmas market consisted of only four stalls and required an extra fee to enter, husky dogs and reindeer were mistreated and tethered in muddy conditions, and Santa's grotto was a very badly decorated cabin.

Children who had looked forward to the event were reduced to tears, especially when Santa was caught smoking. Violence began flaring up between visitors and workers, including an elf who was slapped and yelled at by a mother who complained about the event, two fathers brawling in the Gingerbread house, Santa being punched in the face by a father who became furious after being told his children were not allowed to sit on Santa's lap despite waiting in a four hour-long line, and a worker dressed up as a snowman received so much verbal abuse that he eventually walked off in full costume.[2]

It was actually a quite serious con perpetuated by two minor gangsters. Have a read of this: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/scammed-by-santa-attraction-closes-six-days-after-it-opened-1055550.html

The fraudsters - why does it not surprise that they are related to a Conservative politician? - were eventually jailed.
