Just out of very vague interest, when was the last time C*ty were mentioned favourably in the Times or any other national newspaper?

Nice little article on our Alex Scott (you may have heard of him, he`s 19 and worth more than all your players, the tip you play on and Wally`s watch combined) in the Times yesterday.

I`m sure if you can steal a copy from somewhere you can get someone to read it to you.

Rovers were actually regarded very well by the local community in Twerton, who were sorry to see them leave. I've always seen Barf as Rovers territory for this reason.

Rovers were equally sorry to leave, as Twerton was the scene of numerous famous victories over ci*y, including the glorious 3-0 victory that confirmed us as champions of what is now L1. However, the 4-0 hammering will always have a special place in my heart.

I was from the Weston area of Bath and know a good many Bath City fans who resented the fact that Rovers pitched up at Twerton Park. Similarly I know of a number of "Liverpool, Arsenal, Man U" fans who temporarily watched the Gas and seem remarkably absent from The Mem

The last time you won at our place! I had hair then, that’s how long ago that was.

Beadle, whatever became of him…oh yes, he came back to haunt the Rent Boys in a City shirt. Once again, a defeat that essentially cost you your place in the division.

Isn’t it a damn shame your beloved strikers keep defecting to us and making you howl and whine like the little b1tches you are?

We did give you Steve “Flapper” Phillips and Fanny Holes in return though. They were great. ?

:rofl2br::rofl2br::rofl2br:

Fanny Holes, indeed !

Course you were, just like you’re loved by clubs and supporters all over the country …… in your own heads!

If you were so popular with the people in Bath, it isn’t far away, so why haven’t they followed you over to the Minimal??

Very true, Bath is hardly a hotbed of Gas, I get the train over to most games and a fair few City get on at Bath. The Gas that I do know rarely go to games.

I'm not advocating banning you for one minute (cos that's exactly what you are after, so you can go back to your chums and boast). Long ago I made this post regarding their alleged attendance at the playoff final for finishing non-league as runners up below Barnet

Using some local news sources and ticket sales up until a week before the match (and then extrapolating) you get to a figure closer to 32-33k

Have just started reading The Hard Yards by Nige Tassell, a chronicle of the 2020/21 Championship season. The opening chapter concerns Wycombe Wanderers, and thus it takes only 8 pages before Bristol Boca Juniors' greatest moment is mentioned. Enjoy.

I suggest they were just being polite and didn't want to hurt your feelings, very thoughtful of them.

3 days before the game Rovers had sold 24k/25k, that’s from their own club.
Basically any claims of them having anywhere near 37k are complete bullshit, but then we knew that already.

… do you really think that Bristol City being mildly less cr*p than Rovers is more important than what is happening in the Ukraine?

On a serious note, there is a subtle yet very important distinction in the addition of the definite article ‘the’ before ‘Ukraine’ which is critically important to the sovereignty of the Ukrainian nation-state. ’The Ukraine’ suggests a region with amorphous borders, such as ‘the Alps’ or ‘the Caucuses’, rather than an independent nation-state like, for example, Spain.

In 1993, Ukraine’s government asked Russia’s government to abandon the Soviet-era practice of referring to Ukraine as “the Ukraine” and instead use only “Ukraine.” Putin continues to use “the Ukraine” inferring that the country is a territory of Russia, giving him justification for his action there. Ukrainians hate it.

We should all use simply ‘Ukraine’. Now please, back to ripping the piss out of the 15ers and @Deluded Sag

Why not start one on your own fans forum about us, pretty simple stuff?

Lack of your own fans on there?

Lack of intelligence on there?

Thread won't be very long due to your own failings as a club?

Anyway, what a weird way to spend a week of your life. Pretending to be a fan of a club you probably hate, just so you can try and wind up some fans of that club on an anonymous internet forum, actually watch their game against Birmingham on a Saturday afternoon rather than watch your own team (didn't miss much as they got schooled by the mighty Accrington). Very odd behaviour, but not really a surprise when it comes to the envious blue few.

What is the capacity of your promised new shiny Fruit Bowl stadium - asking for a friend?

Any road, just like the Third Tier title that historical wring has been righted as we knocked the Gash out of the JPT last time the vagabonds in Quarters brought their septic stink i to our arena with two of the best goals you could ever hope to see in a provincial derby. And this despite us being absolutely woeful that season and having a manager who is only marginally less of a d*ck than Skeletor or Jaily Birdon.

Remind us again how many times you’ve won that trophy? That’s a right, a big, fat lonely zero despite being eligible for each of the lash 30 seasons. You know, since we relegated you out the second tier?

EDIT: Oh sorry, 29, you decided to lose to your beloved Bath in the FA Trophy in 2014-15 as you were no longer a league team. I’ll need to Google to see who won the JPT that year.

Yeah, maybe he can staff Santa’s Grotto.

Chanting Judas is very different from physically attacking someone. The way some of your “fans” have treated this chap for instance for going to a much bigger club.

As I remember it, 'Flapper' Phillips was very well treated by club and fans alike, up until the point when he lost his place as first-choice keeper to an infinitely more talented (not to mentioned dignified and classy) professional, at which point he threw his toys out of the pram like a petulant child.

On an entirely unconnected note, if he was indeed attacked by someone at a gym then that is an utter disgrace and very sad to hear.

If he was that was awful, but it's the first time I have heard that.

We even gave his address out on the internet so people could go to his family home and attack him, his house and his family, and we had fans trying to get to him when he played a game at our ground, sang songs about having a party when he's dead, the list goes on and on......Sorry that was your lot with the lovely Matty Taylor wasn't it (unsure why anyone would be unhappy with getting your club the £10 million fee he was worth.... oh wait a minute)...

People in glass houses and all that...

Ps - how are we "mildly" less crap than you? The delusion of many of your fans is quite amazing.

Only spoke to Phillips once. One lunch time I had gone to the Gate pre season to renew my season ticket. Whilst driving out towards Ashton Road the open top car in front stopped and the male driver signalled another open top car driven by a lady, coming into the Gate, to stop and then proceeded to have a conversation. After waiting patiently for a minute or so I got out and politely asked the driver to pull over in order that I could get back to work. It was Phillips, he looked at me as if I was a piece of sh** on his shoe. I got back in my motor and waited patiently for him to move. It was lucky I was in a firm's motor or I would have rammed the arrogant sod after being kept waiting for what seemed an age before he pulled away. He holds my record for being the most contemptible person, in the shortest contact time,  I have ever "met".

Isn’t that what his solicitor usually says? Or his wife was confused when she phoned 999 in a state of panic & said he’s hitting me, now she can’t recall the incident at all & doesn’t want to press charges, something like that?

Or my brother borrowed my car without my permission & was driving it without insurance or a driving licence.

I had a Twitter debate with Phillips a couple of years back (I'm not on it now) where he got very upset that he hadn't been included in some City Legends event, the long and short of it is he felt he was a City Legend and I felt he wasn't!

I expect you are one in many that don't think he's near Legend status.
If I'm in a good mood when asked, I'd say decent, but not much more.

Phillips was an excellent shot stopper and organiser. Main weakness was crosses, but if he had overcome this he would have been a very good championship-level keeper.

Also appears to have been a difficult character - left Rovers after challenging the management over the keeper training facilities and arrangements. Also left City after falling out with Gary Johnson, although who hasn't?

He actually said this happened to him in a BBC interview on Points West. Hit from behind as well - cowardly stuff.

Well like I said, I believe he was well treated by club and fans; as far as I could make out, his problem was his own inability to accept losing his place to a far better player.

By the time Flapper had moved on to pastures inferior over at the Tinpottery, Adriano Basso (for it was he) had long established himself firmly as 'Bristol's number one', with Chris Weale as the revered 'Bristol's number two'.

Even after the histrionics, Phillips benefited from a generous testimonial, culminating in a well-attended game down at Clevedon.

Which probably tells you the standard of goalkeepers you've had over the years. Phillips was a decent Goalkeeper for mid to upper league one teams, but obviously lacking in several areas. We replaced him with someone who was a good Championship keeper who also lacked in several areas to get the step above.

Not sure why anyone is really responding with vitriol to this stuff as the best he's got is a period of time when they were playing in Twerton and apparently good. A JPT win and having our League One 'Keeper from us when we didn't want him anymore.  I don't even remember Twerton because I was about 5, and no one under the age of 30 can really remember playing them in the league. It's laughable really.

Keepers of the standard of Nigel Martyn? Basso was also grossly overrated - did absolutely nothing after C*ty. Martyn played for England and was recognized as one of the best keepers in the PL.

I imagine some of your older contemporaries also wish they couldn't remember Twerton. C*ty took some real hammerings there and the 1989/90 season is still a source of real and obvious distress and even trauma for them.

I’m giving you more respect than you deserve here, but I don’t think anyone here will argue that Martyn is probably the best keeper to have played for a Bristol club in the last 30 years. Shit moustache, excellent keeper. Basso was an example of player, club and time all fitting perfectly. It’s happened with us, it’s happened with you on multiple players. I’m sure, for example, Tom Nichols never hit heights elsewhere that he did with you. Players sometimes move on and can’t hit those heights again - to not acknowledge that is to not realise a lot of football is psychological.

However, as someone who was at Twerton in 1990 I can assure you I’m well over it as are practically all city fans. To parallel - I got blown out by a girl I fancied in 1990. I got married to a better looking and all round better person since. I see the girl sometimes and she’s still wallowing around saying how she was all that 33 years ago. In reality, she’s lost her teeth, looks ropey and her glory days are long gone. The question is, why would I care when my life has moved on and is demonstrably better than hers by every metric? It’s not a trauma, I just feel sorry for her (and by extension, you)

It's so long ago, that I barely remember when your team were a threat - yet alone a rival - to us.

Still, ancient history is all you have to cling on to, what with your laughable ground, poor support and constant embarrassments.

If you think Steve Phillips is any way a comparable keeper to Adriano Basso, it shows you know as little about the game as most of your fellow 15ers:  the vast majority of whom, haven't attended a Rovers game for years.

Don't cry too much though about your team's constant abject failure and patheticness. Give this disc a spin:
