When Twentyman first interviewed Barton, he asked whether he preferred to be called "Joey, Joe or Joseph".  Barton told him that he prefers to be called Joe, hence GT always refers to him as such.

Odd question in the first place from GT.

No one else in the football world calls him Joe, and no one else is likely to no matter how much Twentyman is fixated on pushing it.

I bet that was the last think JB wanted on his first few days settling into the job - the local sports correspondent asking him complicated questions like that..!

How long did he have to think about it before could answer..?

So used to being called `'the defendant" it would have taken a moment.

They have a goal keeper,

you wouldn’t have thought that if you have seen some the goals the have conceded recently

I took a quick trip to Slagchat to see what sort of meltdown there might be. It seems that the worlds bestest and most liked fans who always get behind the team in adversity were all giving the young keeper a 3/10 and a right slagging. Must have been in the wrong forum? So they’ve got a young ‘un between the sticks who is now probably shitting himself every game and the replacement who has been binned out the squad altogether and will probably throw a few in if he gets recalled to teach Barton a lesson before he ***** off to another club at the end of the season……football genius at work by the special one.

It wasn't in the first few days, it was when Twentyman did a lengthy interview with him on Having a Gas at the start of this season.  GT is a professional broadcaster, and it's a question which I have occassionaly heard him ask other interviewees, I guess if you're speaking to somebody for an hour, you'd want to address them as per their preference.  Maybe that's what the glasses are for, to project a Joe 90 image? ?

Is @Miah Dennehy ok? He seems to have gone missing lately.

I'm sure a couple of months ago I read multiple times how great the football was under St Joey, and some of the most entertaining stuff he's ever witnessed.

TBF I am finding it quite entertaining at the moment myself, so keep up the good work Joey.

The most bizarre poster for years was @Deluded Sag. A fortnight of constant abuse and bullshit and now haven’t heard from them for weeks. Confusing as getting less than 8k of your own through the turnstiles when you are “promotion chasing”.

The subtle difference is.

He was enjoying how they played, we just enjoyed the results. They keep passing , creating chances  , then keep losing. I think we could all be happy , maybe.

I didn't realise how bad JBs history is until I just checked wiki. He would surely be unemployable at a school or college with his history so how does he fit in at a football club?

Probably has to be escorted if and when he's anywhere near the Academy..........taking the piss slightly but it's not as far fetched as it seems when you think their Academy Coaches will have to undergo a full DBS disclosure. It would be interesting to see if they would appoint a Youth Coach with his "record".

Think I briefly met him once, 'rabid gas head' was my assessment.

He's been on multiple times since getting owned a few weeks ago, but stopped posting (cannot think why).

I thought it was pretty much agreed it was Flapper himself.

I didnt realise the upgraded stand that they “should” get is actually a tin roof. They are literally tinpot.

I wouldn’t mind betting that there will be a reduced capacity at the Mem (no tittering at the back) at the start of next season if they decide to break camp.

This report states that they have yet to have a structure designed, modelled, costed and agreed. Once they know definitively what they want, they’ll need to find and appoint a contractor, assuming that there’s not a veritable army of retired construction workers willing to heed the club’s call and do the work for free. If it ever sees the light of day, the club will need to run test events to satisfy health & safety regarding suitability of the new structure. Doesn’t sound like a 6 month job, given that presently it’s just a pipe dream.

I have heard they will stick to the same contractor who provided them with so much experience with their previous big top experience who can turn his hand to anything at the Horfield Circus...

I keep writing serious comments on this thread and then deleting them as the comedy value is so high.

Let's take the point above about health and safety. If they have test events they will need a full crowd to make that work. How are they going to fill the ground?

They’ve been asking that question for years.

Sadly I fear that means that when we eventually do lose again you can pretty much guarantee he will be on here acting the tool before you can say “Tote Scrote”.

That’s fine, he was the gift even when the tables were, somewhat, turned.

The fact they have announced a new stand (of sorts) with no drawings, planning permission or even a decision on what it is, says all you need to know about the announcement.  They haven't even completed surveys to check if they can actually do anything at all!  They have just thrown the dogs a bone to cheer them up with this.

Nobody with any integrity or common sense would announce anything at all until it was at least agreed what you were planning to build and what it was to look like, and indeed whether you could actually build it at all!

The vagueness of the information combined with completely unrealistic timescales of the start of next season is mind boggling from a CEO!

He's just a man who knows his audience.

Much like when Wally announced three years ago that they'd be in a new stadium at the fruit market within a couple of years, he knows that it'll keep the 15ers happy and he won't be held accountable in any way.

Not too unhappy as always felt it is a rubbish location to get to.

South Gloucestershire council are Pro us, there must be a bit of land available that we can use.

We need plenty of parking, and let the fans drink in a stadium bar to maximise revenue."

A mate of mine (sadly a Gashead) has informed me that a group of wives (all Gasheads) are going to Ashton Gate tomorrow for the England Womens game. They have tickets for the Lansdown Stand and have never been to the Gate before. There must be quite a few others going too.

Wouldn’t it be good to see their faces and listen to their reactions as they enter the concourse.

What do you think their first comments would be?

Also to see the husbands faces when they get home and tell them what it is really like.

Bitton FC (based in South Glioucs) folded recently.

Not the ideal venue for Rovers, but a ground that can easily accommodate their "enormous" following.

Mind you, it would take the Blue Few a bit of time to get used to such luxury.

They didn't want it anyway as not enough parking for them! ?

So they want a new stadium so they can do some Championship ready drink driving.

Not necessarily this group but you can almost guarantee one of the Blue Few will go to this and think they're clever by wearing some sort of Rovers clobber and feel the need to post it all over social media as if it's some sort of achievement. Just like when a few went down for their Covid jabs and wore their clown outfits!

"Look at me I wore da famous quarterz at Trashton"!
