It's not as good as the Atyeo or even the late Williams.

Corrugated roof no doubt.

It’s not much better than the old “cow shed” stand at Ashton Gate (the one demolished to make way for the Dolman Stand)

Shouldn't have said that, they'll now be claiming it's the 'shed end' and claim that with Wally supporting Chelsea, everything is brilliant.

As a matter of interest, how long does planning permission take to get? They haven't got it yet!

You really want the builders moving in the day after the last home game. For them to be on standby waiting for planning permission is not ideal. Then the school holidays kick in.

On the plus side for them it isn't actually that big a structure.

My guess is the stand might open without the concourse ready, just the seating? If they get it all built then fair play to the builders.

Maybe there will be a penalty clause to encourage them, you know, 'get it built in time or we will make you watch the games'.

Concourse, you gotta be kidding. Alleyway is the correct term.

The Weal of Misfortune said, "The new stand allows us to add more seating to the current stadium plan and increase the capacity which, following the success of the past two seasons, is something that will enable us to welcome more supporters to attend games."

Two years in which they've never sold out ?

This is a much smaller version of the temporary stand at Bloomfield road isn't it?

Won't take long to bolt that together.

Still needs PP though I would assume.

Now, I've got a massive shed (guy we bought the house from stored his racing rowing boat in there), can I sing 'my garden shed is bigger than that' then?

"Think it’s the least we could do for away fans , so long as we can quickly dismantle it if we ever play the sh1te again ?"

We could do that ourselves and take it back to IKEA and get a refund

Has anyone got an Allen key?

As it can be quickly dismantled, it probably qualifies as a temporary structure.

If so, it's basically still a marquee, just with a tinpot roof.

That would make a good crowd announcement:-

'Will all away fans please stop dismantling the stadium'.

I hope they didn't buy it from IKEA....

That might explain their low attendances. They went to IKEA to buy a new stand and couldn't find their way out.

Erm…. anyone else thinking they haven’t a cat in hells chance of sorting out all the necessary consents by the start of next season, let alone build the thing. Also seems bizarre that Wael is spending money improving The Swamp when his new stadium deal is so close to being clinched.

They just lap it up, don’t they.

I’m no legal expert on planning but my spidey senses are telling me that, “a planning application has been submitted” is different to “planning permission has been obtained.”

Still I’m sure nothing will go wrong ?‍♂️

Well there’s certainly no planning application on the council planning portal. They may have submitted plans but over the past couple of years the council have been very slow loading up onto the portal and then they have a huge backlog reviewing applications.

No chance of getting planning reviewed, approved, construction started and completed by August……unless of course brown envelopes are floating across the council chambers

It's difficult to tell, but is that terracing in the upper back part of the cowshed, or was it seating?

The Bristol Post have managed to capture the thought processes of a multi-billionaire owner of a football club dreaming up his vision of a no expense spared new stand ...

I have a dream -

Or is it a nightmare?

Clearly a fan of brutalism - simple form,...functionality(?),...minimalist(?)

I only went into the enclosure in front of the stand but I’m sure it was basic wooden bench seating.

There were barriers in there so if there were benches as well that would have made it the very first "safe standing" area. :)

Looking at the picture, I don’t think there were barriers. I think that, what sort of, looks like barriers are the wooden benches. Is there anyone who went in this stand who can confirm what it was like?

Must admit in my initial desire to take the piss out of the one behind the goal I completely missed the “structure” to the right, that basically is a bus shelter, isn’t it? Looks ridiculous.

With regards to planning permission it isn’t my field of expertise but I’m sure you can carry on with all preparatory work in advance (if you’re brave you can actually crack on without it at risk you’ll have to dismantle).

There are huge backlogs outstanding as a result of the pandemic but replacing one structure with a similar height one is highly unlikely to be contentious & so provided it does get nodded through I can’t see it being a problem.

Looks absolutely shit, though.

Wouldn't they also have to have some sort of "practice game" to ensure all the exits etc conform to the SAG standard?

I can't see planning permission being an issue, they are only replacing one temporary structure with another, it's not like they are building on empty ground. I am sure there will be a lot of pissed off residents in Bristol if their application is fast tracked though. Still, we know what Wael of Fortune is like when it comes to timescales, and how much slack they are willing to give him.

Ready for League 2 season 24/25 it is then. :)

Only stadium in the country where a team has been relegated by another one wearing their shirt

Edit: ground not stadium
