When will League 1 teams start playing "proper football", it's embarrassing for Joey to keep losing to these shit teams, he would rather lose to good ones. Err, I think that's what he said.

Anyway, he's off to Hearts or Leeds or somewhere to prove his point. Or not, as othe clubs don't run the same rehabilitation programmes as the Gas.

Or, celebrated like they’d just beaten a team that is managed and supported by complete classless winkers…

Or celebrated a first home win in ages at their last home game of the season so thanked their support (which is the truth). We r not talking celebrations like Swindown winning the league in November FFS.

One of their fans said that right? I mean no professional would talk like that openly about another set of professionals would they?

A 'team like Shrewsbury' who are six points and three places above them?

What the hell do they put in the water over there?

Yet another inferior team beats them but he still can't help himself.

Cotts should of said post match that Rover's won't get out the division playing tippy tappy football but he wouldn't do that as he has class, he's not a disrespectful ****.

They could still finish below Cheltenham ffs.

What a gift.

It would be great if someone had the time to put together his bitter comments excuses after every defeat they endure. Has he ever said it was a poor team selection, poor tactics or God forbid praise the other mob. The list would be endless.

Happy Sir Colin Daniel Day fellow shitheads.

I’ve had 2 divorces and there are City fans in the Mansfield end singing City songs at us.

Geoff? Can you not be biased to they gert Ted’s just playing commentary of their match instead of us poor poor victims who were safe last week at Wycombe?

Geoff: Try tuning into the right frequency mate.

2014 - It was all ground ground ground and they forgot about the team.

2023 - It’s all ground ground ground and they are forgetting about the team.

5/3/14 (Sorry, force of habit!)

Ah, the memories. I was at my son’s own football match and was doing a jig on the touchline when the FT score was confirmed; the other parents were asking “was that your son who just scored?” To which I replied nope, the Gash had just been relegated to the non-leagues, to universal American perplexity.

Little did we know that afternoon the fun was just beginning; the scenes on the pitch at the Pisspoorial afterwards, their pathetic attempts during the summer to get their relegation overturned (“wYCOMBE aRE cHEATS!”), hilarious defeats to such colossi of the game as Altrincham, Bath and Braintree (with their ********* embarrassingly causing trouble at the latter), and meanwhile we lay the ghost of 1990 and - the ultimate bit of trolling - picking up the EFL Trophy while they were out of the EFL.

Absolutely, completely, utterly, ruddy marvellous.

Apparently, the scorer of Shrews first goal was an ex-rovers player. According to Joey Bag, he showed disrespect by goading the blue few after he scored.

Disrespectful and oversaw a shambles as captain….yet after the game at the Mem earlier in the season, Barton publicly said that he said to Leahy he wanted to re-sign him.

The trouble with this headbanger is that he courts controversy whenever he opens his large mouth. This filters down to the feeble minded bonehead who thinks its fair game to constantly verbal abuse ex players or think its funny to give ex players death threats. Its small wonder that the lemmings follow and do exactly the same.

What I find strange is that his employer turns a blind eye to all of this, which in itself is quite revealing. "Family"  club, you're having a laugh.

There are ex-City players who'd be booed or jeered (for various reasons) if and when they return to Ashton Gate. Others, like Josh Brownhill, get the respectful welcome of someone who had been a model pro for us - and he of course reciprocated that respect by clapping City fans.

But I could never imagine City fans singing songs hoping for the death of one of our ex-players or posting that they want him seriously injured or to fall ill.

That level of unpleasantness seems to breed among the swamplike conditions of the Mem, and you are right to note that a disrespectful a-hole like Barton encourages the mentality.

Decided to watch their highlights to check on the goal celebration. I was expecting Leahy to pause facing the Rovers fans and dish out some words but he just turns from the far post, runs past them looking/pointing at them then celebrates with the home crowd adjacent to that end. Something you see every game. I am sometimes critical of goal celebrations being over the top but there is nothing for JB to get upset about.

As for disrespectful, coming from him? What can you say?

BTW, very good saves from the Shrews keeper 2nd half to keep them ahead, Rovers had the chances. See Joey? Not too difficult to be objective.

He really is a bitter little whining James Hunt isn’t he.   He never ever stops digging at others to deflect his obvious deficiencies.  A match made in heaven with the blue few.

It’s a perfect fit indeed. He has worked those dullards out a treat though. I do wonder if he means all of this guff or is just saying it to keep the bestist fans in the solar system on his side .

Maybe he knows they love to play the victim and cook up deranged theories as to how the world is plotting against them , so he is playing to that with his rants.

"Joey Barton said ex-Bristol Rovers captain Luke Leahy was "disrespectful" to his former fans after celebrating in front of the away end during Shrewsbury Town's win at the New Meadow on Tuesday."

......but he has never been "disrespectful" to any of the teams that have been better than his shower this season???

Sam Frost uncritically reports all this shit as well.

He is undoubtedly the most biased & sycophantic reporter the Post has ever employed (last night’s HT Tweet was a real gem) “Rovers the better side despite the score line, should have had a couple of penalties, I can see them winning this one”.

He’s moving on at season’s end, that’s either because he’s been hired by Kim Jong-Un or he’s finally breaking free of the Merseyside crime syndicate.

I heard Kim Jong Un considered his reporting to be too biased, and therefore likely to lack the level of credibility North Korea looks for in their reporting.

So he didn't want to play him as he didn't want to risk an injury from a glorified Rugby team, yet he brought him on anyway on 57 minutes.

The actual state Barton gets himself into with his post match lies and delusions is brilliant to read. Is there another manager anywhere in the football league who gets as bitter, and simply cannot handle a defeat with any grace.

Another game, another loss, and another load of excuses that doesn't include Joey Barton as part of the reason why they lost. It's uncanny how it keeps happening, they keep getting beat by teams that are always worse than them, yet these worse teams have all finished higher than them after a full season. Uncanny I tell thee.

Yes, I fondly remember the "hoof it and chase it football" that Cotts had us playing in our promotion season.

I never really warmed to him and thought he shot himself in both feet come the end, but he showed that with the right players at his disposal he could play any brand of football effectively. Barton seems to be judging on reputation rather than facts.

Barton is better then every other manager in that league - in his own bizarre mind.

This sums him up.

Joey Barton gives middle finger to Spurs fans after being spotted ...

The bloke on the right is doing the "we are not worthy" gesture with his hands.

Only problem for Barton is that it doesn't appear to be aimed at him ! ?

I think someone from the Spurs end asked how many years Barton's next stretch will be. JB reckons 1, his mate got him down for a 10...

Attendance stats; the last time rag-arsed rovers averaged over 20,000 was in 1958. All of those people from 65 years ago will come back if they ever get a decent stadium, fact.

That cannot be right. didn't Joey say they have 10,000 Gasheads every week and with a new ground they would have 17,000 because they have the fanbase there. I mean the poor Saggies wouldn't be making up attendance figures would they, it's not like they have previous for it.....

What's funnier is that you know they revel in this "little old Rovers stuff", a new ground where they will get an initial uplift from novelty alone, would have them posting about, "glory hunter's", "Johnny come lately's" and bemoaning "how special the atmosphere used to be".

IIRC they’ve got:

Gibson (DF, Everton)

I think 3 of 5 are regular starters

There will be another load next season too, along with more freebies who will last a season or less, it's a great business model for the ongoing success over there. The self confessed genius knows what he is doing as he has offered advice to other managers/teams/players etc etc. How any club or manager thinks that is feasible for longterm success I don't know, but haven't they got rid of the academy or Al Quidi no longer wants it?

It will be rinse and repeat season after season, and if they did manage to go up they would be screwed to get the next level of loans where they have to pay serious money for, or actually pay decent wages and fees for another set of players, as they won't have their own players ready to make the step up.

I honestly think if they managed to go up it would be a bigger disaster for them rather than staying where they are in League One.

The view of them going back down with a record lowest points total would be spectacular!
