Β

Bristol Rovers is looking to employ a general maintenance person to help with work around the Stadium and Training Ground facilities.
We are looking for someone who can use pre-existing skills and experience to help with ground improvements, including painting and decorating, carpentry, and general maintenance. You must be able to drive and be available for work during the week.
This is a paid position with full or part-time hours on offer.
ContactΒ louisesmith@bristolrovers.co.ukΒ to discuss hours and pay if this sounds like something you’re interested in. Please do not apply if you are a contractor.

I might apply, I’m quite a handy person.

On a totally unrelated note, can anyone lend me some red gloss paint? Enough to paint a whole stadium.

Lend you? Are you going to give it back after? :)

Now that would be handy if you can find where their home kit storage tent is!

What’s that you say Maya? It’s your family team but you want nothing to do with them?

Another one too embarrassed to be labelled a gashead.

Their record signing was made so long ago, most of our section 82 weren't even born!

I still can't stop laughing when remembering that little fact.

I do wonder if there has been any other club in the top 5 tiers of English football that haven't broken their transfer record since before 1992.

Adopting the Sag ethos there eh Wandering? Don't wanna buy any paint, you just want it for nothing...?

If they didn't get promoted in that first season I genuinely think they would still be there.

Had their keeper been rightly sent off in the play off final after 10 minutes, then you could be right !

They are saying they want an employee rather than to contract the work out. I mean, of all the thigs you could easily take the piss out of us for, that we want to employ a general maintenance man is an odd thing to go for :)

To be fair with the pieces of crap they've got up there, a general maintenance man would have a field day there. Never be out of work up there!

When are they going to realise that they don't have a pot to piss in?

I am sure they realise it, and have done so for some years - they just don’t want (can’t) admit it publicly.

On the contrary Phil, they wear it like a badge of honour….”tinpot and proud” they write on Social Media, β€œwe know our place unlike you deluded shitheads” they say.

That is until we or anyone else points out how shit and skint they are when all of a sudden the rage kicks in and they start spouting that they’ve got β€˜huge’ support, admired all over the World and a mega rich owner who is committed 100% to the Gas unlike SL who, apparently, wants out.

Sorry who t f is this Doris anyhow ?

I had no idea until now, but it would appear she was a presenter of Love Island and is the woman in black in the clip.

She presumably gave permission to City to use it, despite the fewers claiming her as a gashead for years, turns out she is a West Ham fan

I'd rather have an owner who wants out and then leaves us with Ashton Gate, the infrastructure, the training ground, 20k+ crowds at home week in week out, and if built by the time he leaves the new Arena, new hotel, new flats etc etc etc.

Rather that than an owner who obviously wants in, a true gashead, and have the Mem with it's tinpotness and an effort of a training ground, and a terrible following that won't be going up anytime soon.

Tough choice...

Herbert (Herbie) Gillam was a local reporter, specialising on Rovers from way back in the day.

Gillam would have regularly interviewed Rovers manager Bert Tann, who is referencing him here.

I remember Bert Tann (the real one), but couldn't place Herbert, probably because he reported on Rovers - I wouldn't have been interested.

About the same time, the Post had Peter Godsiff reporting on City and Bruce somebody? being the Rovers guy.

Back in my day, it was Peter Godsiff (City) and Robin Perry (Rovers).

Re. Bert Tann (the real one), he used to live in Frenchay, and I had the pleasure of meeting him and his wife one day.

I recounted the story on here some time ago, but suffice to say they were an absolutely adorable couple.

I can only remember Herbie Gillam reporting on City games with his regular phrase "They're holding their own" !

I don't know the address itself, but (coming from Downend) go left at what used to be the Hambrook roundabout, then first left heading towards Frenchay Common then left again to a little cul-de-sac with a number of real stone houses.

A friend and I were collecting conkers around the Common, when my friend got hit by a falling branch.

We knocked at this random house, Mrs Tann patched him up and gave us a cold drink each, before Bert Tann drove us both back to Bromley Heath.

He even laughed warmly when I thanked him, but confided that I was a City supporter.

As I said, a lovely couple.

He used to report on City games on Radio Bristol didn't he? Was he before Phil Tottle? And Colin Howlett did Rovers?

I remember Colin Howlett with his "..a large contingent from Bristol rovers" bollocks. It was probably him that started their over inflated sag numbers

Especially when their new maintenance man starts work with his pot of paint and brush.

It'll look Championship ready.

I hadn't realised that Windyass was still playing?

It's actually very similar, the "Rovers legend" in question is Josh Kay, who scored Barrows goal against Northampton in the last match of the season, meant that the Gas beating Scunthorpe juniors got them promoted.Β

I get that fans might call someone that, a bit like a few on here love Colin Daniels, but the clubs twitter feed referring to him as a legend is very weird.

Regarding transfers, they think they might have a shot at a 21 year old Stoke defender they borrowed before. They say he's upset he didn't get enough football last season at Stoke, but 18 games for a 21 year old seems pretty good to me.

Then some stuff about 32 year old Ed Upson, being a free agent, and some full back who Joey got rid of, now being sought after because he was so good last season in League 2.

It's all go up there isn't it?Β

You’re telling me they all started tugging themselves and they hadn’t even been to the area yet ffs ?? said the day it was announced, as someone who regularly walks/Vois to temple meads past there, it absolutely reeks, even in winter. They are genuinely better off staying where they are.Β

I do wonder what they think when they look south and see 2 new players and both for more than a Tilson.

13 new signings and we all know 5-6 of them will be loans.

We all know what they think when they look South -Β

All funded by the "Rosy cheeked Lady Garden" (not my terminology), spunking millions that they haven't got etc etc.

No acknowledgement of the massive restructuring that's taken place over the last few years, or the fact that we have player assets and facilities they can only ever dream of.

Doesn't fit their myopic agenda does it. Stuck in the world of Windass, Ricky Lambert, Lazarus Penrice, that **** Alexander swallowing his false teeth on the pitch, shit moustaches, 1990, donkey jackets, the Tote End, boob cricket, headbutting mini buses etc etc.

I know what I'm happier with.

COYR!!! ?
