They’ll be in for Greenwood next.

Just a small point I guess, but are you aware Mason Greenwood had all charges against him dropped by the CPS? Yet you chose to associate him with certain activities to make a case as to why Rovers may employ him?

It’s always dangerous to call out people online when you have no evidence of their alleged misdemeanours, especially when they subsequently have all charges against them dropped.

A work colleague of mine got into serious bother when he re-tweeted a false allegation against an MP - the politician concerned instructed his legal team to go after everyone who had defamed him online - on every social media platform ... it’s the way of the world just now ... it’s a minefield out there ...

We, and anyone else, are absolutely within our rights to mock.

This signing completely contradicts the image they have of themselves.

Whether the CPS dropped the charges or not is largely irrelevant in so far as it concerns the truth.

As I am sure you are aware, the reason the CPS sometimes decide not to prosecute is generally based on whether they consider a conviction is likely and, occasionally, whether proceeding to trial is in the public interest.

In the Mason Greenwood case, not only did the main witness, i.e. his girlfriend, refuse to testify, but she was also back living with MG and, indeed, was pregnant with his child - she may now have even given birth.

If you have seen and heard the video of the ‘alleged’ assault, I am sure you will be able to judge whether or not MG is the sort of young man you might welcome as a son-in-law.

I must admit this signing made me have some degree of pride when reading through gaschat, a number of them rightly not happy.

This is my favourite input though…

apparently he’s comfortable with it if he just spat at her!

Hadn't Simpson been prosecuted though?  Not excusing it, (can't, it's indefensible), but if someone has served their sentence, the slate is supposed to be wiped clean.  Also, the victim on the Simpson case was saying it was over-hyped, this victim is putting herself through the ordeal of a trial.  Not saying Simpson was OK by any stretch, just that this is a different situation.

Indeed.

And let's be fair here, I expect that the majority of Rovers' playing and coaching staff have never been in court for assault.

The Evening Post should be highlighting the good guys that they have on their books instead of repeatedly focusing upon the many criminals in their employ.

I suspect that the BEP sports department is staffed by City fans given how often they keep printing stories about Rovers' players and staff being arrested.

This guy certainly seems to not have a lot in terms of experience or qualifications for an in depth role at a football club.

Small world, isn’t it?

Was just looking up something about their Chief Scout Christopher Spendlove & the court case that saw him get off & Barton’s good mate Andrew Taylor sentenced to prison for the manslaughter of a policeman, and you’ll never guess who appears as a defence witness? Eddie Jennings..

Lovely people.

Not a Merseyside crime syndicate, no, not at all..

You know that thing people say sometimes about how you’re never more than 6 feet away from a rat….

This Gashead is literally saying that at the Mem you’re never more than a few feet away from a Wife Beater or a ‘Paedo’ ?

That would really fool them! "Big game down at the Mem????"

I find it encouraging that so many of them are seeing it fit to admit on their forum that their kids want to go to Ashton Gate because all their mates are.

It shows just how much their fanbase must be ageing with little or no new blood coming in to follow them.

It does seem like the only young fans that they get these days are those who have been forced to go by their deluded parents.

They’re forced into a Rovers baby grow before the umbilical cord has had a chance to be cut.

“I took my boy from when he was 18 months” and there you have it. So desperate that they’ll drag a baby there before they even know what day of the week it is?! ?

From Swiss Gas, who I am sure is very close to @bert tann.

From the newspaper Schweiz am Sonntag

“Former Serbian under 21 international Slobodan “ big head” Lob is set to sign for English League 1 side Bristol Rovers. The attacking midfielder who can operate on the far right or far left was released by FC Sins following an incident in a Liga 3 game against Kickers Luzern when he was sent off for stabbing an opponent to death. Sources close to the deal say it will not be affected by Lob’s upcoming appearance before the European Court at The Hague where he is accused of crimes against humility.”

A Fewer (and I have probably mentioned this before), who I used to use the same pub as, was struggling to get his kids interested in following Rovers, they'd watch sport on the telly, but for reasons he had nothing to do with, got in to Basketball.

He has taken them to a few Flyers games and reluctantly admitted him, the kids and his wife all really enjoy it.

He draws the line at taking them to Ashton Gate for football or Rugby (which I can understand), but the kids just hate going to the Mem. Possibly because it's not a nice environment to watch sport in, but I would hazard that they have been spoilt by looking at tentless stadiums on the telly. Either way, they are showing no interest in going to watch Rovers.

Er. . . I wouldn't use the term rocking as that implies a sound solid structure. I'm thinking bellowing as in flapping tents in the wind. The only thing rocking would be the webbed feet morons to and fro & frothing at the mouth until they're stuck to a window.

From henceforth they’ll still be BRFC, but will be officially renamed Bristol Remanders FC.

Top 6 guaranteed as they’ll bully and assault their way to the top of league one.

The ground is being renamed ‘The Priory’

What a basket case of a club! The gift ?

Sometimes it's easy to think we might overreact to the happenings at Rovers because of our rivalry.

But on this and Barton and even as far back as Agogo they come out of it looking pretty effing appalling.

The @jbcfc__ twitter account has been finding some absolutely ridiculous tweets from Barton that demonstrate his misogyny is deep routed.

I'm fairly confident that if such a man led this club we'd be far more vociferous in our condemnation. I think the response to Danny Simpson showed that and his case was far more nuanced than that of Brown and Barton.

The growth of the women's game and female participation in the men's game have been absolutely brilliant for the sport over the last few years. Clubs like Rovers remain a massive hindrance to that progress. Absolutely despise them.

Glen Humphries?

The sad fact is that society is littered with people who have a propensity towards violence. I suspect every team has had such a player, we just didn't always get to hear about it.

Obviously posted in jest, but (on the subject of his child wanting to follow City) I thought this was quite amusing:

For heavens sake … he is only seven - you haven’t had him around that long.

Drive him to a camp site in South Bristol and swap him for a puppy.

You will forget him in no time - think of all the fun you can have with a puppy- will be great at ball games as well and definitely more loyal.

In a few months time when we are riding high in L1 you will have forgotten what all the fuss was about.

A vile bigoted bully. I'd not engage with Bristol City for as long as someone like him remained in charge or the owners who employed him.

I'd like to also add, the owners, who continually cast a blind eye to anything that goes on and therefore condone it as well. Any parent taking their children to a place knowing all that must seriously think again.

Family club, I don't think so.

I don't support any one man at the club now or who has ever been at the club. I support Bristol Rovers and I always will. There may possibly  come a time I no longer attend matches- although I doubt that- but I could never describe myself as an 'ex-supporter', it kinda goes against everything about what being a fan of any club is. City fans have the expression 'City as ****' and I totally get it, I suspect you don't or ever will.

Nope I’m just sick and tired of what the club has become and cannot or will not ever, ever support anything to do with Joey Barton. The latest news just backs up my view. This isn’t the club it was when I first became a fan. It’s a rich man’s plaything and he doesn’t give a toss about any of you.

All banter aside I’d have serious concerns if this was the way things were going at City.

Looking at it without blue-tinted specs it seems like the only way Rovers can mount a serious challenge in League One is to pick up flawed players on the scrounge and put some sort of rehabilitation spin on it. Smacks of a club without a pot to piss in who will sink as low as you can go as long as it’s done on the ‘cheap’.

At the same time the lines being fed to the supporters are that the club is on the up, serious about a top 6 challenge and hard to hold back Wael from splashing the cash on players.

The fruit market appears to be another non starter and it’s all about trying to find someone else to fund it or lease it for years for free and the only progression appears to be the consultancy that Rovers are ‘talking to’ have paid to assess the site. This is how it appears to me. Just feeding the fans bullshit and then not too far in the distance there is yet more controversial news that reflects negatively on the club.

To top it off you keep giving us Ted’s plenty to take the piss out of. Must be uncomfortable to be a Gashead, humiliating and embarrassing.

Not surprised that you’ve become disillusioned by it all fella. It’s hard to completely give up on a club once it’s in your blood though. Red or Blue!

So ... fixture release breakfast was ok.

TG happy with Pompey and Barnsley up first.

Two possibly three in by Monday as mentioned above... Was very clear that Club are aiming for a top six finish and will be recruiting players that will have the ability to get us there. WAQ is fully supporting financially. He has seen the quality of what has been signed elsewhere we were not in for any of them.

Apologies from me to Eddy Jennings - Even on the morning of his wedding he was trying to tie up a new deal and gave himself the challenge of getting the player over the line on his wedding day.

Everything on course for the new stand - We should not believe what we read in the media as all things are progressing well.

Everything felt a little rushed today but TG was coolest man in the room - we are in very good hands.

Also learnt today from an attendee that our highest paid player as things stand is Big JM - by some distance as well. Made me think even more that AC will need parity or will almost certainly move on as his salary was far lower.

A few highlighted bits here. Let's see how things unfold then shall we?

Why do they just lap it up continuously without question?

******* braindeads the lot of them.

Unfolding nicely as predicted (already)......

So far the "Top 6" signings include

  • A has-bean "Ex-Sheed"
  • Someone who threatened to walk when he was last at Rovers
  • A woman beater

The new stand is.......not there

In very good hands - Everything on the cheap, zero morals, divided fan base, some fans giving up on the club altogether etc...but at least the players have some footballing ability so everything is sweet.

When will the penny drop for the rest of you Saggies?

The gift!

There is more chance of plaiting fog than that stand being anywhere near in place by August given how long planning is taking. Absolute farce.

Taking a wider view, things like criminal violence have punishments as a deterrent to stop people doing it in the future. One of those deterrents is limiting employment prospects but in this regard it seems Rovers don't care. If City acted the same I believe I would feel the same.

Credit to FP for saying what he has. I am not Bristolian but would stick my neck out and say I reckon there are probably a lot of Rovers fans who feel the same about Joey and some of the other staff. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance but maybe not a 3rd or 4th. There really are things more important than football and Rovers would gain a lot of goodwill by clearing out that bad feeling around the present culture, set an example from the top. It is not as though Barton has them on the verge of the Prem.

Re Fordingbridge as a place, I agree with others. Had a great sunny lunch stopover on the way home recently, right on the river. Nice place to live.

At least you can now see through the bull like we've been seeing (and pointing out on this thread) for years.

Yet it's barmy how a lot of Gasheads still believe every single line that they are fed and lap it up continuously?

Rovers will never evolve under it's current ownership. It is merely existing hand to mouth from one year to the next. I think there is more chance of Rovers going back to League 2 (and possibly even the conference) than actually having their own ground and having a stable footing.

The sad fact is that society is littered with people who have a propensity towards violence. I suspect every team has had such a player, we just didn't always get to hear about it.

I go back a very long time & I’m not sure Humphries was ever charged with anything, though am fully aware of the rumour.

I don’t think it can be seen as a one off here (even if it was, as was evidenced by Danny Simpson I’m extremely uncomfortable with it), Barton surrounds himself with these types & it doesn’t take Inspector Morse to work out why.

Morning Chaps/Chapesses,

Long time no speak. Thought I’d drop in to see what was happening, bit quiet in the world of BRFC isn’t it?

I’m officially done with this club now and consider myself an ex-supporter. Done with the constant bullshit from the Merseyside Mafia and every decision that’s made being further and further away from the club I grew to love, that used to be a genuine family club (stop laughing).

Barton can do what he likes for all I care now, the reaction from a lot of fans shows me they deserve him and his band of merry *****.

Rivalry aside I hope you’re all keeping well, and if anyone can help change my profile name from ‘Fordingbridge Pirate’ to ‘Former Pirate’…!

Much love,

FP

Fair enough but times change and you will find that the club you always supported will return in the future.

You're just pressing pause on your supporting, and I, as a City fan, have done the same in the past.

If it was just a rumour, I unreservedly apologise. My memory isn't what it was, but I thought I remembered him being charged.

Fair point. The longer it goes on though the wider the disconnect I feel. Not sure if that gap can be bridged when Barton goes.
