I have no doubt they will get planning , but it puts the whole office in a bad light that they carry on regardless.
If that was you or me, or some chancer they would probably make us tear it down. I hope they really make them jump through hoops just for their arrogance and twattish behaviour.

DOH...........who forgot about the lights ? Another cock-up !

If the lights are partially blocked in that corner the assumption must be it's the same at the other end of the stand. Heading for another classic hopefully ?

Indeed. There is a simple solution - make the floodlights higher…. Which will require planning permission! More entertainment coming our way I hope!

Supporters and Radio Bristol saying how dark it was in that corner due to the lights being partially obscured by the roof of the stand...

Ah they have this covered. If you look closely the roof has concertinas in it. A bit like a horizontal shutter door would have.
It’s probably made by the same company that used to do those awnings that the ex chief of Manchester police advertised.

Just need to train a steward to pull the chain to open the roof up…… job done.

Question for the Class.

With all the chatter, and now they have lost a tent/stand/dwelling , how many seats do they have ?
EFL minimum is 2,000.
The only mention I can find is when they had 12,000 capacity, that is 2,500.
My question is, is that all in their real stand ?
How many seats do they have now ?
All I can see is the new stand will increase seating by 3,000 but I can't see how many they have now they binned the old tent seating.
Anyone ?

So they've got their planning permission now then.?

Nope not yet.

Given they have got this far with the cconstruction - I am really hoping they are told to adjust the dimensions of the structure by a few metres (maybe lower and not so deep?)
We may mock about "meccano", but this does not look like meccano if the need to modify it arose.

That would be amusing - but not as amusing as if their application just got thrown out & rejected, in light of their utter disregard for planning rules.....

The contempt shown towards the rules that everyone else has to adhere to, is surely reason enough to reject any application and should also come with a 10 year ban on submitting any future plans for approval....

Sounds only fair to me..!

Further up the pages there is some confusion about the role of the secretary which I hope I can clarify.

The company secretary deals with corporate governance and is responsible for filing relevant documents at Companies House.

The club secretary deals with football matters and is responsible for filing relevant documents with the football authorities.

The personal secretary deals with personal matters and is responsible for keeping senior management satisfied.

As an example of the latter I've inserted a 1957 vintage photograph of my own personal secretary Marjorie receiving the news that I was on my way back from Liverpool with a point in the bag.

Bert Tann Secretary.jpg

Come, come Mr T - that Marjorie must have been a tad naive - any self-respecting student of Bristol football would know that your lot played away at Liverpool twice in 1957 - and you lost both, 4-1 and 2-0, can’t believe you fibbed to her - how do you sleep at night?! ???

Maybe it wasn't that kind of point he was referring to?  ?

If Bert would have said his delightful secretaries name was Irene....that may have changed my perceptions a little!

I'm disappointed that so many have given up the fight. That competition needs sustained  attendances of less than 100, then there may be a -slim- chance, that we get listened to.

Unfortunately (in my opinion) football's fanbase is changing and the matchday experience is becoming a very different thing, although I do accept that this may well be one some people want. To go slightly off topic, I still find it absolutely incredible, that many Champions league games are played in front of less fans to allow bigger advertising boards, I mean, FFS take that in for a second, what on earth is going on there?

The one thing that hooked me as a youngster and I suspect did most people- certainly of my age, was the atmosphere at a game and  the advent of things like  B teams with a separate identity taking part in senior fixtures does,in my opinion, devalue the whole matchday experience.

We are fighting a losing battle of course, but that still doesn't mean you should roll over and have your tummy tickled.

Must of been an away game for you then?

You can kinda understand why the neighbours are moaning. The height of that stand at the front is taller than the other stand you can see.  Definitely not a temporary structure as they are saying it is going to be!

Temp stands are what the cricket bring in for fixtures at Nevil Road!

Compare this with the drawings that accompanied the planning application. (Page 12). That new stand looks bigger (taller) than the application suggests.

I’m no construction expert but that looks a lot more than a temporary stand, does that mean the fruitybowl stadium is in trouble.

It is very temporary in the sense that it can all be unbolted again

Have they been told to take their drawings down? I think I would have suggested that they have submitted their child's drawing to us instead of the school competition website by mistake. :)

The hard truth podcast new episode out today with Darragh McAnthony giving his view on the transfer window and what went on the last day ?.

In a nutshell made a stupid offer on Wednesday and then on Thursday eventually agreed a fee on Friday in plenty of time. Peterborough filled in the transfer forms to help out(normally the buying club) kept reminding them about the extension etc and nothing forthcoming.

Expects to sell JCH in January for at least the same fee but their will be several clubs after him then.

Worth a listen, he was to professional to call then tinpot but reading between the lines think he was not a happy bunny.

You can unbolt just about any steel construction, but is there a market on eBay for secondhand stands? City gave away their old floodlights a few years ago, but nowadays even non-league clubs tend to design and build their own stands. The Rovers stand has the disadvantage of having numerous pillars supporting the roof, which just doesn’t happen with new builds anymore

This really does make me think they genuinely couldn’t afford him and had no intention of signing him, just wanted to show the ambition. There’s just no other explanation for something being that shambolic. Surely?

“However, the relevant paperwork wasn't submitted to the EFL in time, with Rovers missing out by seconds on securing what would have been a ground-shaking deal for a two-time League One golden boot winner while also smashing their previous record transfer fee of £370,000 paid to QPR for Andy Tillson in 1992.”

“Ground-shaking”? My arse.

32 years and counting since they bought Tillson. He’s now 57 years old so probably younger than most of their back four. They’re coming for us, remember!

I notice that Wael of Fortune had to get approval from the "new owners", so we know he's little more than a man with a nice watch now.

Does anyone know if the watch is genuine or a fake? Perhaps it’s just an outer case with no inner parts.

Out of curiosity I have used an online inflation calculator to work out the value of something from 1992 in today's money.

£370k in 1992 would work out at £773k today, so in adjusted value, signing a player for £800k would not really shatter any records or shake any grounds (assuming they intended to go ahead with the deal).

The calculator works from CPI, not that footballers can be considered as household items! More luxury goods perhaps.

Wow that is now 150 pages on a player we didn't sign. 202 pages on a stand we haven't built and 708 on a stadium that doesn't exist. Certainly exceled (sic) our selves (sic) and don't do things buy (sic) halves ( except for the half built south stand) .... BUT as consolation, there are 3,346 pages on OTIB to highlight all their fc uk ups!

Didn't I read that they missed out by seconds, but didn't apply for the extra 15 minutes that would have enabled them to complete the paperwork ?

If that is true, it's almost like they didn't want to spend the money.........

or didn't actually have it....  :whistle2:

Life is beautiful Sir Col, even when you don't realise it!  Truly, the gASS are a beautiful thing.... to laugh at and who provide - consistently, unwaveringly - an endless supply of face palm belly laughs.

Long may it continue (it won't forever, so let's pile on while it lasts).

There are occasional moments on there where you can laugh with them and not at them!

The day after the transfer deadline farce, when they put that old tent back up for away fans, someone remarked "who says we can't make a marquee signing"!

Bloody hell, Bert. There I was - at work! - scrolling through this thread when the boss looks over me shoulder and says - "Misuse of company IT! You're fired!". Cheers then.

I'm now at the Labour Exchange seeking new employ.  I've already offered to exchange one Harold Wislon for two George Browns and a Roy Jenkins but no dice!

Anyhoo - George Brown, you say? Ah yes, the notorious, pie-eyed drunkard who once propositioned a dark eyed, long skirted beauty at a party and got the reply:

"How very dare you, sir, I'm the Archbishop of Montevideo!"

True story.

Anyhoo again, any chance you've got more of this top quality "niche" material? Perhaps we could take to a sub-forum!

"In olden days a glimpse of stocking, Was looking on as something shocking, But now god knows, Anything goes" as Cole Skuse once wrote.

I would like guess that it was more of a gesture of intent rather than a sign of intent from the new owners.

Faced with having to part with cash they went missing.

If it happens again, they'll struggle to do business with any other clubs.

I've said this further back. Try to make out the new guy has money to get the fans onside another fake sheikh
