I don't believe the Gas have intent towards a new stadium. If they did they should have made a huge play a few years back for the land adjacent to Gypsy Patch Lane and the A38 where the Village hotel and gym, plus a number of car showrooms now stand. Easy access to the motorway, a local rail station and on a bus route would have made it ideal. They could even have used Stoker's as their pub.

They need someone else to pay for it

To be honest with 3400 in the new stand, the potential for at least 5000 in a redeveloped Thatchers end and 1800 in the West / East stands that gives us 10000 seats and approx 3000 standing left on the sides - good enough unless we hit the championship at which point rebuild the East.

Stadium been a distraction for years ..... would rather see progress on the pitch.

Now it’s

“Team team team but they forgot about the ground….”

Although there are some sensible people on the Rovers’ forum who realise how shambolic the club is, there are still a lot who are totally deluded - e.g.

“I think we knew that Wael and co were hard bargainers after the UWE collapse.

That's a good thing, we want a good deal for the club ultimately.”

How can anyone believe the UWE and Fruit Market stadiums have fallen through because of Wael’s negotiating skills?  They’ve fallen through because, as always, Rovers don’t want to spend any money.

They just don’t want to believe it.

So they’ll just carry on blaming Shitheads for everything.

Goodnight Irene.

So they had a chance at the UWE,  12 years ago. That one they wouldn't have owned and UWE would have taken a cut in revenue.
They didn't like that as money from the Mem would have been their input into the ground.
The Fruit-i-had , they wouldn't have owned ( long lease ) and CONYGAR would have had a share in revenue.
The sale of the Mem going towards the build .
So that sounds the same to me , only they would have been in years ago.

Now they are going to redecorate the Mem, which they could have started 10 years ago .

absolute shambles FC ?

BRF see how incompetent

When is that? I think we need to repost that article from a few pages back that was from the mid 60s, in case some of their younger fans think that this kind of flim flam is something new in their history.

There’s a couple on gas chat already saying they didn’t want to go there shit location, I’ve never seen a fan base like them, delusional donkey jacket wearing ********

They stopped wearing the donkey jackets on the basis that they were worried some of the Equine Hit-Squad might get confused and lash out.

I see what’s happened here, ”capacity between 17k-20k”…

Well done to the R*vers board for realising that this is no where near big enough and it would leave thousands of disappointed Sags outside the gates every home game.

I don’t doubt for one second they will soon be back with plans for a 75k mega stadium and I for one can’t wait to see the promotional video they release before even discussing this with absolutely anyone they need to!

There surely has to come a point soon when they realise Wally and his new friends are absolute charlatans, and all they are is a property deal gone wrong with owners playing for time ever since. No serious club has the amount of cock ups they have, and no serious businessmen would allow that level of cock ups.

Theres being gullible but their fanbase just abuse the privilege

Latest is they didn't really like the brand spanking 25k fruityhad idea in the 1st place:-

Let’s just rebuild the Mem. Old school stadiums are much more “romantic” anyway. Out of town bowls are boring.

Ironic that the Mem is further out of town than Bristol City FC, Bristol Bears RFC and even than a club who represent a different county, Glos CCC

I'm wondering if Wally has done a bit of a brown envelope business deal with the developers, he then sells the majority of his shares to some gullible bloke on the "nearly completed stadium deal" that will bring them untold fortunes, and then bang, "sorry pal, I cannot believe it's fell through".

Well, we know it works. Wasn't that the situation when he came in ?

Oh yes, the romance of having to piss in a chemical toilet with no light or running water.

I'll bet the ladies must be flocking to the Mem for a chance to wave at some spanner in piss-splattered days, waxing lyrical about the wholesome beauty of their surroundings.

And we maybe slightly late.

Miah - Seasick Steve sang a song about you - I Started Out with Nothin and I Still Got Most of It Left.

Perhaps it could replace the awful Irene song

They released an announcement video for it ffs. £500k to be part of a 12 month review process. ******* hell. It just never ends does it.

To be fair the half a mil was Conygar Investments taking an option on the site, Rovers were just a possible tenant, quite possible Conygar (market value of £60m) has found better ways to make money off the land that doesn't involve a club that can't sell out a 10k ramshackle ground in Filton. In other news here's Conygar share price this year - Rovers did all their PR for piggybacking the Conygar deal in April.

Its a non stop parade of hope and disappointment with the odd prospect of light at the end of the tunnel dangled like the proverbial carrot on a stick to keep the suckers buying season tickets in the vain hope believing that one day..just maybe they will actually do something rather than float up n down between divisions 3 and 4.

I think he meant “ float up and down between divisions 3 and 5.”
